STARFELT SETBACK

CARL STARFELT is likely to be out of action until next month.

The Swedish international centre-back hobbled off with a knee injury just before the hour mark of the 4-0 romp against Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s stunned Ibrox outfit last week.

On-loan Moritz Jenz made his derby debut in his place and kept the position alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers in the 3-0 Champions League loss to Real Madrid in Glasgow during the week.

STRIKER STARFELT…Swedish ace Carl Starfelt races away in joy after heading Celtic’s ninth goal in the romp against Dundee United at Tannadice.

MARKSMAN MORITZ…Celtic’s on-loan defender Moritz Jenz is delighted after heading the second goal in the 3-1 win over Ross County in Dingwall.

The German defender is likely to be back in place when Ange Postecoglou’s men take on Ukraine’s Shakhtar Donetsk in the second game in Group F in Warsaw on Wednesday.

Starfelt, though, is unlikely to require surgery on the knee problem, according to a report in the Scottish Sun on Sunday.

But he will still not be in a position to be considered for midweek in the Polish capital or Sunday against St Mirren in Paisley with both games poised to get the green light.

The 27-year-old back-four operator, who was signed by Postecoglou from Rubin Kazan in a £4.2million deal in July last year, will also be unavailable for Sweden’s Nations League double-header against Serbia and Slovenia on September 24 and 27.

Starfelt missed the start of the season after returning to Parkhead in the summer with a hamstring tear suffered on international duty in June.

He missed the opening day 2-0 win over Aberdeen – where his stand-in Stephen Welsh headed the first goal – and the 3-1 victory over Ross County in Dingwall.

Starfelt returned as a second-half substitute for Jenz for the 5-0 rout of Kilmarnock where he claimed his first-ever strike for the Hoops
