Sunshine getting through

885

The sun is shining on Celtic Park as the Easter weekend gets underway, while Celtic face Motherwell tomorrow, who look like they have discovered the limits of Stuart McCall’s managerial abilities this spring.

After some difficult news this week, here’s a ‘Happy Birthday CQN’ message from Wee Oscar, which he recorded last month; an even bigger ray of sunshine than the one beating down on Scotland.

Enjoy the break, if you’re getting one.

  1. I always wonder about opinion polls.

You may re,ember that they predicted a Kinnock win in 1992. The reason for the polls being wrong was explained as ‘Tories are either too rude to answer questions or too ashamed to admit their prejudices’.

I’m not a Tory but if anybody stops me on the street with a clipboard, I politely refuse.

Same for anybody phoning me up.

  2. An Tearmann:

I haven’t read back yet so don’t know if anyone else has answered this but here’s the lyric.

    SERGEANT WHERE’S MINE?

I’m lyin’ in bed, I’m in room twenty-six

Thinkin’ on things that I’ve done

Like drinkin’ wi’ squaddies and bullin’ my boots

I’m countin’ the medals I’ve won

These hospital wards they’re all drab lookin’ joints

But the ceiling’s as much as I see

It could do with a wee drap of paper or paint

But then again, maybe that’s me

Oh sergeant, is this the adventure you meant

When I put my name down on the line

All that talk of computers and sunshine and skis

Oh, I’m askin’ you, sergeant, where’s mine?

I’ve a brother in Partick wi’ long, curly hair

When I joined up he said I was daft

He says shootin’ strangers just wasnae his game

That brother of mine is nae saft

But I can put up wi’ most things I’ve done in the time

I can even put up with the pains

But what do you do with a gun in your hand

When you’re faced with a hundred odd weans.

    Re Sevco budget

Imagine only having the second largest footballing budget in Scotland to win the second tier

Come on ……give the guy a chance :-)))

    Fascinating …apparently …..

As for their out of contract players….I’m sure said players won’t be able to convince any club to pay them as much as the eejits at Sevco did

Indeed, quite a remarkable achievement by Sallary.

  10. I just had a phone call which means that I will be in my car driving from circa 1.30 to 3pm. Bloody Hell. Will watch 1st half & record second but it will be tomorrow before I get to see 2nd half. Pished Off.

  11. Firstly a very Happy and Holy Easter Saturday

For me, Lent finishes after Vigil Mass tonight, which should be held after daylight finishes ?

Leftclicktic, you had me in tears watching that – post at 10.03

I have already stated, Oscar will be prayed for late on Easter Sunday, in Lourdes Grotto, and through next week, as HCPT group 77 spend a week in Lourdes.

Can I please request though, that those who care too, also please pray for the group of children who not only will be travelling with Group 77, but for all those in desperate need for our petitions throughout the pilgrimage to Lourdes.

I believe there is over 100 kids from Scotland alone, being taken to Lourdes with HCPT groups over the course of the next 24 hrs, and many many in desperate need of our prayers.

Laura, will really enjoy this trip, being her 1st as a full time carer for a needy child.

Group 77 head off Easter Sunday after 10am. Mass

PS, 4 – 0 for the Bhoys in Green shortly

38% of Catholics from the north want to remain part of Britain?

Where did that stat come from?

This so called poll was out months ago and in a TV interview Gerry Kelly just reminded the interviewer that that for 30 yrs the media and pollsters have been getting it totally wrong when it came to Sinn Vein,s political rise. There.s elections coming up here donncha know so expect a lot of rehashed sh:-* t and a couple of royal visits just to keep Norman and Norma thinking they,re still wanted

Aye, I guess a ton loss could be considered some form of victory!

I’ve just been looking at my emails and I’m very excited. I have a mail from the inland revenue telling me I have been awarded a huge tax rebate.

It starts ” dear Applicant”. The thing is I don’t remember applying!

All I have to do is give them all my personal bank details and..hey presto…in 6 days I’m in the money.

I better go and do it straight away…..huuuuup :-))

    PF,

I am referring to below which was previously released as part of the Charlotte Fakes material but has now reappeared via Paul Larkin.

    http://thefrontofthebus.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/rangers-werent-only-ones-to-issue-side.html

Ernie Lynch on viewing it has immediately asked what role Celtic had to play in it.

I was trying to say that I could not understand why Celtic would have a role.

The letter is about assuring Sevco that Rangers would not have any titles stripped. I can’t understand why Celtic would have an involvement in assurances that Rangers wouldn’t have titles taken. This is because stripping them of titles has no net impact on the longevity and continuity of Rangers. If Celtic believed that stripping them of titles would somehow lead to their total demise, that there would be no reincarnation, then I could understand why Celtic would be concerned.

The only way tha I can see Sevco negotiating their way away from title stripping at that time was by them saying we will walk away and sell the assets.

A lot of aspersions cast on the validity of the 38% Catholics who want to remain part of UK in that survey ie something to do with the term North Irish.

Count me out as one of the 38% in the week that Sec of State Theresa Villiers stated that there was too great an emphasis on “Security Force” murders. If anyone did not believe that there was a hierarchy of victims with Nationalists firmly ensconsed at bottom of pile then that is all they need. Inequalities even in death.

Great read – amazing how differently the fates of Portsmouth and sevco have rolled out. I’ve never known much about business and organisation cultures but that’s as good an illustration as you’ll get . Portsmouth – we will start again and we will do it for the club and nobody else – result : sustainable success. Sevco : we need to be better than celtic at all costs – result : unsustainable chaos. Oddly, the rangers/sevco debacle is much more like the mismanagement of the clerical abuse scandal than any successful community based initiative.

  22. Glenn FFin’ Gibbons:

“If our club ever sorts itself out it needs to ask questions about the ‘signing policies’ of some of these papers. Damage is being accrued. Ironically the historically great platform of the Scotsman is being abused by terrorists to the truth”

    ——

” The insidious message is that all our problems can be attributed to “Huns” being thick.”

    ——

” we know that Glenn Gibbons is not his real name…… his real name is Patrick O’ Malley, now I wonder why he is reluctant to use his real name.”

    ——

“His name is definitely Patrick O’Malley and Jesuit educated I am led to believe.”

  23. I love the final paragraph in the Gibbon’s article:

“Institutional investors collectively make up a large majority of shareholders, but each has actually spent a comparatively tiny amount on acquiring their equity. If they continue to be harassed, they could consider the venture not to be worth the bother, sell off the assets and close down the business.”

Careful what you wish for sevconians…

  26. monaghan1900- His real name is Patrick O’Malley?

I knew his brother Jimmy, he worked in the wire room in the Record, cracking guy, funny thing is his surname was Gibbons.

Must have been 2 for 1 at the deed poll that day for the O’Malleys.

  27. I see Neil Lennon and McCartney beat me to the punch. Well posted, sir. :)

    meansong 1:27 –

McCartney never believed that Oswald killed Kennedy. Macca was much more clued-up than John about how the world works and how to survive. In 1964 Paul read the manuscript of researcher Mark Lane’s JFK book (Rush to Judgement) before it was published and took Lane out to dinner to discuss it further. He also offered to write music for the documentary film version a few years later as a free gift. By that time, American corporate media had begun a Beatles backlash and the Beatles had had their cages seriously rattled by death threats which all of them took very seriously on the 1966 tour of the USA.

McCartney was far generally less inclined to be openly confrontational than John but he had his own way of rebelling, preferring not to cut off his nose to spite his face in the process. The result is that Paul survived while others, including John, got whacked.

  30. Mullet and co. There is a very simple answer to your question and it’s a very scary one too. One we are all hiding away from.

Doncaster was acting on behalf of the SPL not on his own behalf. Celtic are a member of the SPL and in fact a very important member. It is inconceivable that Doncaster would have done this without SPL members not knowing about it. Therefore celtic have been involved and their silence on the matter becoming public(alongside everyone else’s silence) says that they agreed to this monstrosity of an agreement.

It’s pretty scary isn’t it? Celtic complicit in resurrecting the Hun?

What would that mean if it became public knowledge?

Of course all celtic need to do is tell us they didn’t know? That would mean that Doncaster will have to resign???

Oh and shouldn’t all of those discussions have taken place already? If not then celtic were clearly part of this………

    Not good is it???

You see every time I get close to this I realise how contemptuous our board are of us. Isn’t it celtic supporters who are being taken for a mug here?
