Technical review needed after Real game

882

The trip to the US to play Real Madrid is core to strategy for Celtic right now.  It allowed the significant North American support an easier opportunity to see the team, keeps the club’s profile high among the game movers and shakers and will have contributed valuable financial resources.

You know there’s a ‘but’ coming, don’t you.

Gary Hooper, Anthony Stokes and Daryl Murphy all picked up or aggravated strains on the trip.  The players are still stepping up their fitness regimes.  Muscles are being stressed, then rested, then stresses a little further.  Returning from two lengthy flights with a high incidence of non-contact injuries suggests we need to review how we prepare athletes for travel.

Do you like the new-look Celtic Quick News?  Some fundamental changes have engineered into the back-end which should make things more solid going forward.  More new features will come on-stream shortly.  My enormous thanks to Kev, who designed the template and everything new in the engine room.

Don’t forget, if you have an article in you for CQN Magazine email me: articles@cqnmagazine.co.uk and let me know what you would like to write about. I’ll be able to give you some pointers. Next edition coming soon.

    CQN fantasy league :- fantasy.premierleague.com

To all those who played last year, its a simple 5 minute job to re-register and set up your team, most of you will have probably forgotten your passwords so just type in your email and a recovery password will be sent to you.

New players just register normally, will take no longer than ten minutes.

I have done a classic league for this year, get as many points and most points wins, very simple compared to last years head to head win, lose, draw system!

To join the league the code is :- 721106-181775

  15. Good morning CQNers,

Some interesting takes on Thatcher overnight, for me though she’s best summed up in her callous treatment of the hunger strikers and Belgrano crew.

    A Thatcher quote…

“I think we’ve been through a period where too many people have been given to understand that if they have a problem, it’s the government’s job to cope with it. ‘I have a problem, I’ll get a grant.’ ‘I’m homeless, the government must house me.’ They’re casting their problem on society. And, you know, there is no such thing as society.

Her ‘no society’ clarion call resonates today where her legacy can be clearly seen seen in bankers, newspaper journalists and the current government.

  16. Last week, Sir David Murray emerged from his bunker to issue a statement via the Press Association. RTC commented in detail regarding elements of the statement here on the Scottish Football Monitor.

I think the statement is a masterpiece in answering charges that have not been made, and accusations not been laid. It also includes a statement which, whilst not original, might be seen as the epitaph for the demise of Sir David’s Rangers – “Tax AVOIDANCE is a right.”

Sir David also risks offending even further the fans of his former team by referring the “new” Rangers and “Rangers Football Club” rather than “The Rangers Football Club”.

DAILY RECORD COMPANY’S BRIAN McNALLY AND SEAN SOUTH

UNREST is growing within the Daily Record over the continued employment of sports writer Brian Patrick McNally.

Many journalists are angry at Brian Patrick McNally’s constant sniping about the standard of sports reporting in Scotland.

They see his criticism as being directly aimed at them and their Sunday Mail colleagues.

Brian Patrick McNally is employed by Mirror Group Newspapers, owners of the Daily Record, Sunday Mail, Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror and People.

Brian Patrick McNally’s job is to cover football in the north east of England for the Sunday Mirror.

However, if his official Mirror Twitter account is anything to go by, he spends an disproportionate amount of his time carping on about all things pro Celtic, all things anti Rangers, along with making barbed comments and outrageous claims that he is such an honest, forthright, responsible and professional sports reporter he could never get a job in Scotland.

Which surely means that he believes his Mirror Group colleagues on the Daily Record and Sunday Mail, including such fine operators as Jim Traynor, Keith Jackson, Hugh Keevins and Mark Guidi, are not honest, not forthright, not responsible and not professional.

    Poppycock!

I have worked with all of those guys and know them to be fine, hard working, honest, committed and professional journalists.

I also have no evidence that any of them have ever adopted the nom de plume – nom de guerre is perhaps more accurate – of someone who idolised Adolf Hitler and who shared Hitler’s belief in the Final Solution, the extermination of six million Jews.

But Brian Patrick McNally of Mirror Group Newspapers, the same company which owns and publishes the Daily Record and Sunday Mail, appears to have done just that.

Despite his bleats to the contrary in a letter to the National Union of Journalists.

I promised yesterday I would reveal two names to join Channel Four’s Alex Thomson in a journalistic Hall of Shame.

Brian Patrick McNally is one of those names.

When I researched Brian Patrick McNally I found many striking similarities between him and the background of someone who posted on the Celtic Quick News site under the name of Sean South.

My perfectly reasonable conclusion was and remains that those similarities stretch way beyond the bounds of coincidence.

I believe they provided proof that Brian Patrick McNally was the Sean South who posted on Celtic Quick News.

On November 21st last year I exposed Brian Patrick McNally as a Fascist idoliser, citing the fact he chose as his nom de guerre, Sean South, a man who history reveals to us was a fully fledged Facsist of the most despicable sort.

It therefore followed, I argued, by choosing the Sean South nom de guerre, Brian Patrick McNally was following the same sick, perverted and evil thought process of the real Sean South.

In a letter to the National Union of Journalists, dated 17 January this year, Brian Patrick McNally lodged a formal complaint against me, claiming I had breached the NUJ code of ethics and requesting his complaint be investigated by the NUJ’s Ethics Council.

Brian Patrick McNally further whined in his letter that my use of his middle name had something to do with what he alleged was my obsession with his Irish background.

Yet Brian Patrick McNally has freely used all three names on his search for his roots. Roots which Glasgow born and English based Brian Patrick McNally is proud to identify as being Irish, with his family tree planted in Middleton, Derrybeg, Gweedore in County Donegal.

Not that there is anything wrong with Brian Patrick McNally indentifying himself as Irish and being loud and proud about his ancestral background.

What is wrong is Brian Patrick McNally wanting to have it every way.

He wants to be identified as Brian Patrick McNally and boast about his Irish roots. But he takes exception to someone else calling him Brian Patrick McNally and highlighting those Irish roots.

What he clearly does not want to be is exposed as the man behind the Sean South nom de guerre on Celtic Quick News.

In his letter to the NUJ of January 17th this year Brian Patrick McNally claims I have made allegations which are factually incorrect.

    Which ones?

The ones about him being Brian Patrick McNally whose family tree is rooted in Middleton, Derrybeg, Gweedore in County Donegal?

Or the one about Brian Patrick McNally taking as his Celtic Quick News non de guerre, Sean South, the IRA bomber who Celtic supporters sing in praise of and who his shared his political beliefs with Adolf Hitler?

At any rate, whatever squirming Brian Patrick McNally has had to do with his National Union of Journalist colleagues in Scotland and whatever problems he has encountered with his Mirror Group employers since I unmasked him last November, he deserves to have been put through the wringer.

As for his mealy mouthed whining and crawling to the NUJ, complaining about me?

It was the action of a shabby, cowardly individual. Of someone who can dish it out – as he does with his snide sniping at his Daily Record and Sunday Mail, Mirror Group colleagues – but he can’t take it.

He cannot stomach the truth. Nor, it would appear, can he stand up and defend himself.

And as for the way I treated his contemptible complaint to the National Union of Journalists?

As I revealed yesterday, I resigned for the NUJ, which I first joined in 1969. My resignation was in response to the NUJ’s response to Brian Patrick McNally’s creepy complaint, plus a similar grovel to it by someone else, whose name shall also enter the Journalistic Hall of Shame tomorrow.

It had nothing to do with Channel Four’s Alex Thomson, who has already been dealt with here.

Finally, on the subject of Alex Thomson’s wild fantasy and fiction, I was disturbed to see some Rangers supporters appearing to adopt similar language to that used about me on Celtic sites as they discussed Alex Thomson’s wild claims.

Amazingly there were Rangers supporters out there yesterday who appeared to make common cause with Celtic fans in siding with Alex Thomson by making snide remarks about me.

One even went so far as to claim that I hadn’t posted for a while. As anybody can see, I haven’t missed a day in almost ten months.

I wonder if the same Rangers fans will join Celtic sites in believing Brian Patrick McNally, a man who has taken the nom de guerre of Sean South, a Fascist, Hitler worshipper and IRA bomber?

And will they also ally themselves with the next name which I will place in the Journalistic Hall of Shame?

For a Fascist the State is everything , for Thatcher the State is a chain round the individual’s neck..

  22. The gers are still getting by fine i see without too much further investigation . signing players willy nilly , besides paying off their debts to other scottish clubs ,They will be back in the SPL in no time , players like ian black havent signed up to waste a good part of his playing career coming up through the lower leagues . IMHO the deal has been done . It all seems quiet down hampden way too , regan doncaster and ogilvie still in situ with the heat off them , then we have probably heard the last from the RTC and alex thompson the people who brought all this to the fore . Oh and not forgetting the big enquiry , which the SFA have instigated, and who have appointed the people who will rule . And then sir minty telling us all that they have no case to answer , that there were no side contracts . To be fair it has been a well planned manouvre , bore us all to death with it over the year and a half , cause delay upon delay, buy them time and all will be forgotten . and it has worked a treat . God they can even attract a genuine billionaire , and one who isnt afraid to spend it either . While our lot ,GAMBLE that we will get in among the big boys , before trying to get the players we require to fill the positions that have been known to need strengthening for some time now . Other clubs with ambition would have the players in by now, to ASSURE we got in among the big boys . Many of us on here have cried out for the club to BUILD for europe and up here would take care of itself . But no were still turning up watching some guys who a few years back wouldn,t have got to carry the kit hamper . rant over
