The most interesting point to make about Adam Matthews is that, for another month anyway, he is still a teenager. You and I have seen enough of these games to know that the occasion has a habit of consuming inexperienced youth but Adam patrolled Celtic’s right with remarkable authority last night. All the more remarkable considering this was his first game back after injury.
Football business for 2011 is finished and new signing, Swedish international right back, Mikael Lustig (25), is now available for selection. At 6’3” Mikael has previously played in central defence but Neil Lennon insisted the player was primarily recruited as a right back but, despite the rate Celtic right backs pick up injuries, the need appears greater in central defence. It’s hard to see Adam Matthews losing the right back berth.

Podia are us.
The Celts are here…
Where is Kenny MacAskill?
Right,
off to a wedding. 400 for the meal apparently! Should be quite a celebration.
Jobo
Clyde 1 opened lunch show with PARADISE… Beautiful
Standing up at Celtic Park for Neil Lennon and singing in the rain,
Making huns smell the glove and he´s gonna make sure it happens again and again,
Sally and Whyte they have to be the standing joke of the year,
We give them the run around, they´re lost and down, and cant lodge an appeal
Pay your bills on time, hey,
It´s the same for everyone, you see,
And take a look in my face, for the last time,
I never knew you, you never knew me,
Sing hello hello – goodbye,
Sing hello hello we´ll wave goodbye,
You tried to make it work, hun friends on red alert and putting in the boot to the highest degree
You’re used to wearing less, and now your life’s a mess, so insecure you see,
I put up with all the seasons, but this is one season that’s going to be played our way
[Chorus:]
Sing hello hello we´ll wave goodbye
Under the green and white I can see the make-up sliding down,
Well hey little hun you will always make up so take off that unbecoming frown,
As for me, well we’ll find someone who’s not going cheap in the sales,
A nice little business like that will give us a steady life and we wont keep going
off the rails,
[Chorus:]
Sing hello hello we´ll wave goodbye [repeat]
Hail Hail
hey, lurking huns – we welcome the chase
Daddy started out in San Francisco,
Tootin’ on his trumpet loud and mean.
Suddenly a voice said, “Go forth, Daddy.
Spread the picture on a wider screen.”
And the voice said, “Daady, there’s a million pigeons
Ready to be hooked on new religions.
Hit the road, Daddy. Leave your common-law wife.
Spread the religion of the rhythm of life.”
And the rhythm of life is a powerful beat,
Puts a tingle in your fingers and a tingle in your feet,
Rhythm in your bedroom, rhythm in the street,
Yes, the rhythm of life is a powerful beat.
To feel the rhythm of life,
To feel the powerful beat,
To feel the tingle in your fingers,
To feel the tingle in your feet.
Daddy spread the gospel in Milwaukee,
Took his walkie-talkie to Rocky Ridge,
Blew his way to Canton, then to Scranton,
Till he landed under the Manhattan Bridge.
Daddy was the new sensation, got himself a congregation,
Built up quite an operation down below.
With the pie-eyed piper blowing, while the muscatel was flowing,
All the cats were go, go, going down below.
Daddy was the new sensation, got himself a congregation,
Built up quite an operation down below.
With the pie-eyed piper blowing, while the muscatel was flowing,
All the cats were go, go, going down below.
Flip your wings and fly to Daddy,
Flip your wings and fly to Daddy,
Flip your wings and fly to Daddy,
Fly, fly, fly to Daddy.
Take a dive and swim to Daddy,
Take a dive and swim to Daddy,
Take a dive and swim to Daddy,
Swim, swim, swim to Daddy.
Hit the floor and crawl to Daddy,
Hit the floor and crawl to Daddy,
Hit the floor and crawl to Daddy,
Crawl, crawl, crawl to Daddy.
And the rhythm of life is a powerful beat,
Puts a tingle in your fingers and a tingle in your feet,
Rhythm in your bedroom, rhythm in the street,
Yes, the rhythm of life is a powerful beat.
To feel the rhythm of life,
To feel the powerful beat,
To feel the tingle in your fingers,
To feel the tingle in your feet.
To feel the rhythm of life,
To feel the powerful beat,
To feel the tingle in your fingers,
To feel the tingle in your feet.
Flip your wings and fly to Daddy,
Take a dive and swim to Daddy,
Hit the floor and crawl to Daddy,
Daddy we got the rhythm of life,
Of life, of life, of life.
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

Rangers are bracing themselves for a multi pound bid from Glasgow University for David Healy.
In an age when medical research is hindered by the lack of donations it is believed that a fresh cadaver such as that of Healy could prove worthy of research into spinal problems and liver disorder.
The head of the Chiropractitioners European Legal Team Subcommittee, Cornelius Lennon, commented that the University was misguided and that surely any spinal research would in fact require the presence of a backbone. He conceded that the yellow streak could in fact be liver dysfunction but claimed it was more likely cowardice.
Fresh doubt over the transfer was raised by team mate and countryman Kyle Lafferty but that was quickly dismissed by all parties. Lafferty claimed that Healy was in fact still living. Basic tests however showed that while there was some evidence of involuntary spasmodic movement there were no electrical pulses that could be construed as life or brain function.
Insiders at Ibrox say that if the deal falls through he is likely to get a start against Motherwell on Monday.
This says it all for me :)
Its a sign!

A red card every day of the week…
Thanks Mate for always posting up the highlights..
Matthews is a terrific young player; hopefully we’ll have him for a few more years as the EPL sides will start sniffing about him.
Och does that mean Mathews is gettin sold!?
bigjie
that was an assault
do that in the street and you`ll get lifted
Yesterday was my birthday and I spent last night in section 111 watching the most comfortable 1-0 win over them that I have seen in twenty odd years as a season ticket holder- if Carlsberg made birthdays…..
Paul you are correct young Adam has a composure and pace similar to a young Daniel Fergus McGrain. If we can keep him and at the same time win trophies we could be seeing a future legend.
On another subject I would hope that all supporters with Sky TV will be now tuning in to ITV via channel 993. The more we cut out advertising exposure on STV the sooner they will see the error of there ways. If there is a similar avenue to veiw ITV on Virgin or Freeview then please use it.

Average age of the team was 22.7 years or so I was informed.
The two eldest Celtic players were Brown and Samaras at 26.

thanks for posting that, I was at the game last night and was nt sure if it merited a red as im at the other side of the stadium. first ive seen it as the BBc highlights did nt show it. Red card everyday of the week, healey had one thing on his mind only and that was to hurt James
We’ve got Joe Ledley.
From the Record…
Bwaaaaahhaaaaaahhaaaaa!!!!!
KYLE BARTLEY watched Rangers surrender their lead at the top of the SPL then threw down the gauntlet by questioning whether Celtic can handle the pressure of being out in front.

was right in front of me in the main stand , i felt sure it was red at the time and still feel the same , ref bottled it .
Mind The Gap!!!
Healy should have had an early bath for that assault .
Collum bottled it big time .Jellylegs and Edu should have been given yellows for deliberate hand ball also .
IMO Collum aided them in their usual thuggish tactics all night .

I assume that as the offside that wasn’t and the Healy assault aren’t included in the BBC Scotland highlights they will be shown as part of the post match discusiion.
…….I had to give up reading some of the schtufff from last night……
Some michty strange reactions indeed. Strange in that last night’s resul thas to be seen in context of some of the the most elemental challenges we as Supporters of Celtic have hadto face in a year like no other….
Michty strange indeed.
My flu addled body whooped for joy. Plain and simple.
I don’t actually mind the fascinatingly byzantine back-stories or plot extensions, indulged by the odd one…or two.
I do appreciate they have a job to do after all is said and done……..
But they must appreciate that it is increasingly obvious( and has been for the relatively short period they have been presenting their “material”) that Victories for the Bhoys just don’t seem to resonate with them as much as defeats or media-lead controversies against Us or our Own do.
Funny that.

Derby Day produced quality garbage
By jim Traynor on Dec 29, 11 06:59 AM in old firm
THE plastic bags and food wrappers which tumbled and cartwheeled all over the pitch should have been a sign. The final Old Firm match of 2011 was pretty rubbish.
Hopes that it would be a cracker of an encounter were blown away in the wind as soon as Joe Ledley scored. The first goal was always going to be the winner in this encounter so it was a shame that the first goal scored was actually missed by the officials. How much they really knew about it can only be speculated upon.
Of course allowances have to be made for the atrocious weather but it should also be accepted the 90 minutes lacked enough poise and control to make them pleasing on the eye.
The high winds and teaming rain did make Parkhead treacherous and unsuitable for proper football but it shouldn’t be too much to expect players at this level to be capable of running with the ball at their feet. Or finding team-mates with passes and headers.
The game was scrappy and played in bursts but far too many players had touches which were too heavy and more than a few of these so-called professionals couldn’t spot even the obvious passes.
More alarmingly one or two were even incapable of selecting the correct limbs at the right times.
Not that Celtic were complaining about any lack of co-ordination or subtlety at the end of a match which stretched their winning sequence to nine matches. They will enter the new year top of the SPL and no one, not even Neil Lennon, would have put money on that just seven and a half weeks ago when his side were trailing Rangers by 15 points.
They are two points clear and that represents a 17-point turnaround, which according to some was half expected. Nonsense !
But even though Celtic themselves are proof that even leads which yawn as wide as the Grand Canyon can always be bridged Lennon’s group don’t look as if they are capable of staying there. More importantly, however, Ally McCoist’s side appear well equipped to fight their way back to the top.
SLEEPING
He is in need of reinforcements and is likely to get them. Or to be more accurate the right kind of help because he is likely to lose two or three players when the transfer window opens.
Nikica Jelavic, it is thought, could be the first to be sold off for at least £10m to bring in some cash for player recruitment. The rumours of Didier Drogba replacing Jelavic refuse to go away.
West Brom’s manager Roy Hodgson was in Glasgow last night to watch the Croatian striker as was David Moyes, of Everton. But they didn’t see Jelavic do much at all, apart from watching him stand up top pleading for deliveries only to mis-control them when they did arrive, which wasn’t often. Sadly and possibly a testament to the standard on show no other players are on the EPL radar.
Rangers owner Craig Whyte also watched from the comfy seats although even he’d have been uneasy watching his team try to cope, not that Celtic were absolutely dominating. But they always looked more likely to win and after Joe Ledley had escaped a sleeping Kirk
Broadfoot to head in the game’s only goal seven minutes into the second half Rangers offered very little.
That was largely because very little was seen of another of Rangers’ supposedly best players. Steve Davis was fairly anonymous and given the number of matches this season in which he’s played the role of Invisible Man proof might now be required just to make sure he really does exist. Although it will be argued that Rangers with the more skilful players were penalised more than Celtic due to the atrocious weather conditions.
McCoist had said he was going to Celtic Park to win but he’s far from stupid and knew his side would need more than their fair share of good fortune. However, he soon discovered any luck meant for them had also been blown away in the wind.
Only six minutes had been played when Lee Wallace’s header from a Sone Aluko right-wing cross bounced down, up and well over Celtic’s line but referee Willie Collum waved play on believing Fraser Forster had made a wonderful save to the astonishment of everyone in the stadium.
The ref’s error was possibly understandable because it did look as though Forster’s right arm had qualities of elasticity as he reached way behind himself almost one yard before scooping the ball away. Dig in for the barrage of calls and demands for goal-line technology. Frankly, some of us would rather have a bit more technique within both of the country’s biggest clubs and maybe then Carlos Bocanegra would’ve managed to get a boot instead of a knee to a Jelavic header midway through the first half.
And before that, after only seconds, in fact, perhaps Gary Hooper should have tried to control a Charlie Mulgrew free kick with his left foot rather than his right. He didn’t and a chance was lost but Celtic won and nothing else matters to them now they’re back on top for the first time since April.
They won’t be bothered in the slightest that the game could would have greatly enhanced had someone come up with a spark of genius, a moment of breathtaking creativity. Even a touchline nose to nose would have added something but no, both, managers behaved impeccably.
They embraced at the end and there was even a whisper in an ear, this time Lennon to McCoist, without the flare-up. But that’s not to say the game was without malice.
David Healy, a late sub, lunged at James Forrest, who was fortunate to escape serious injury. Healy deservedly recieved a yellow card because his tackle was unnecessary and dangerous. This might be considered a harsh, possibly even cruel question but what exactly is Healy for except to wind up Celtic fans as some kind of Über Rangers fan ?
As for McCulloch? Rangers appealed his red card against St Mirren on Christmas Eve so they could play him last night but the big fellow has slowed down to the point where the end is fast approaching.
He has done his bit for his team over the last few seasons but injuries and age appear to have caught up with him and McCoist knows the midfield player is another who will have to be replaced.
The question now is: How much of the money will Whyte make available to save Rangers’ title hopes, or have they already been stuffed into one of those bin bags which were rolling across the sodden and scarred turf long after the players had left?
We should have the answer soon enough but although only two points separate Celtic from Rangers it already looks as though Lennon’s side finally have what it takes to become champions. They now appear to have the belief which carried Rangers to a magnificent unparralleled three in a row against all the odds.
Afternoon bhoys, the sun is out quite warm, and hun free as usual.
Paul67.
I think young Adam has progressed much quicker than Lenny may have anticipated, he now will have a problem holding on to him I fear.
………………………………………………………………………..
After watching the game again, I retract my post from last night saying collum was ok, in saying that, I did say he was better than I expected him to be, and they should have been down to 8 men.
At the time I thought elbows tackle with Beram was 50/50, he tried to do him.
Laugherty made about 5 tackles that should have seen him get a yellow, the one where he raked his studs down Broonies ankle was shocking.
Healy’s was a straight red in any other league.
Anyways, nothing better than hurting huns.
bigjie,
Thanks for the two additional pieces of footage. Both make me confirm my initial view: Hooper was onside and Healy should have been off
