The most interesting point to make about Adam Matthews is that, for another month anyway, he is still a teenager. You and I have seen enough of these games to know that the occasion has a habit of consuming inexperienced youth but Adam patrolled Celtic’s right with remarkable authority last night. All the more remarkable considering this was his first game back after injury.
Football business for 2011 is finished and new signing, Swedish international right back, Mikael Lustig (25), is now available for selection. At 6’3” Mikael has previously played in central defence but Neil Lennon insisted the player was primarily recruited as a right back but, despite the rate Celtic right backs pick up injuries, the need appears greater in central defence. It’s hard to see Adam Matthews losing the right back berth.

Hah hah luv it. But why on earth would you use the force to break your seat 2 miles before getting there. If you weren’t such a young padwan 20 yrs ago, you’d have known to use the force when you had gotten 2 miles AWAY from yon seat, no? Use the force wisely you must.
BTW, I don’t think we have a hope in hell of getting payment for this month’s damage, unless we take them to court. We could certainly try, but they couldn’t fit us in what with the 200 other companies pursuing them just to get a fraction of what they’re due from the dirty shameless thievin aholes.

hen1rik,
“Surely the board won’t fail us again”
I don’t see it like that. last year, 1 trophy and 1 measly frikn point from winning the title as well. A failure ? I suppose it was, bloody narrow one though.
Think about the players we have, the board must take some credit. OK maybe they do need to show a bit more courage at times with signing targets (hell I dont know what actually goes on behind the scenes but I am sure there are a myriad of factors that have to be taken into account) but Neil does have hungry YOUNG and VERY GOOD players at his disposal. Augment our current squad with a couple more players soon (and constant additions over the next few years), I’m sure we’ll reap the benefits for many seasons to come.
As for selling what we do have ? One of us here appears to be banging on about it, selling them to lower EPL clubs (couldnt possibly be higher quality teams could it ?). Strange musings for a so called Celtic fan.
Spot on matey I was just referring to the fletcher scenario and I just feel at that time big sammy etc wasn’t scoring and with us bringing in new faces might have helped our cause and we couldve put them to the sword but again your post is spot on.
greenjedi. I thought Hooper worked as hard as anybody on Wednesday night.
I believe his problem wasn’t effort but decision-making.
From the first moment when he tried to control a Sammi knockdown in the 6 yard box with his right foot instead of poking it home with his left, to the crucial chance in the 2nd half when Samaras opened up his stride, left Clubfoot greetin’ with snot running down his top lip back at a Drongan bus-stop and hit the byline, only to see his cutback reach no hooped shirt a few yards out because Hooper had made a major error of judgement and scuttled to the far post behind Huns when he should have been slicing across McGregor et al and knocking it home at close range.
Just one of those nights for Gary, encapsulated in the wrong offside call when his timing had been spot-on and put him clear. He probably guessed then it was not to be his day. But to call him on effort? No.
Cultsbhoy
Nicely done.
Of course, we could look at your post more closely for debate sake, (now that I’m up and showered) and ask why the ‘cash rich’ EPL clubs didn’t take
Adam Matthews in the first instance, you could even be forgiven for wondering why nobody at Cardiff had the gumption to offer him, or Joe Ledley a ‘decent’ contract?
Maybe they are not as good as we think, and there is an Adam Matthews around every corner, of Cardiff et all.
Why did they miss an arguably even better Bosman in Charlie Mulgrew?
Now that Adam Matthews has played a handful of good games for Celtic, it won’t make ‘EPL Superstars’ suddenly jump up and want to pay x millions, for somebody they missed out on, costing nothing, don’t get caught up with Daily Record style coverage, of Wanyama, Izzaguirre, Kayal, Hooper who are all leaving any minute as well 24/7, – aren’t they?
You need to look no further than Henrik Larsson on a question of who played where, for how much and for how long.
It’s a Celtic thing.
Probably posted earlier, Sion have been deducted 36 points for fielding ineligible players by the Swiss FA.
