Efe Ambrose is quite rightly receiving praise for an impressive debut on Tuesday but these are still early days, our comrades from Fife didn’t present a great challenge. Berman Kayal also put in a sold shift and, for the record, I’ve been more impressed by him than the even more lauded Victor Wanyama, when both have been on top form, but I would not consider either for a start in Moscow.
With five days until we play Spartak it was more important we saw Joe Ledley, if only briefly. Joe will need 90 minutes on Saturday. Even if he gets this he might still be short of fitness for the Champions League. The most important result from Saturday will hopefully be Georgios Samaras coming through 90 minutes without incident.
Along with Scott Brown, Georgios is one of only two players with Champions League experience prior to this season. He was also absolutely critical in Celtic breezing through the qualifiers. Fir Park is a tight, agricultural, field compared to the expansive artificial surface of the Luzhniki, but it will be a good proving ground for anyone hoping to impress Neil Lennon with their fitness.

I’ve got no time for Elbows – he embodies much of what is wrong with current football. Likes to put it about and feigns injury on a regular basis. And he’s a sh1te player, who has finally found his level in the fourth-tier of Scottish football.
But if you think his challenge on Kayal was malicious you have never played the game. It was a 50/50 ball and Kayal got came off worse – nine times out of 10 he would have got up unscathed.
Neil Lennon is aware of what a nasty challenge involves – he would not have shirked out of commenting on a malicious challenge if he thought it was one.
markderrybhoy wee prayer sent up for Karina and your mates family. And another one. take care.

Hardly electrifiying stats. Just read moneyball and feel a lot of us are letting our gut feeling rule our heads on Sammi’s, albeit improved, performances.
For me he doesn’t bring enough to the team to counter balance how exposed we are on the left when he plays and I don’t see him ahead of Hooper, watt, lassad, Miku or Stokes up front.
It will be interesting to see what team Neil puts out tomorrow will he risk Broonie and Sammy ? will he play efe ? This is the first time in a long time he only has one first team player that is injured so a big squad to choose from. H.H.
KFC,
Just to clarify, did you ever think he brought enough ?

kdc as well
kdc- The stats are only part of the story.
Sammi is one of the few top international class players we have.

He is also an outball for us, give him the ball and he can cause panic in the other team. And he is very good defensivly. esp at set pieces

Just called ticket office – sold out for tomorrow. Kinda expected it when I knew I couldn’t get there yesterday. Ah well just need to try to pick one up there.
If anyone saw the incident in the Orc “match” against Motherwell where Elbows rams one of the M/well players, it will show you what he is. The M/well full back, a black guy goes for him chest to chest. Elbows quickly slinks away. A coward of a man, and well suited to where he is.
Personally, I can’t think of a worse place and MIB for a match prior to a CL game. We will get kicked all over Fir Park and Collum will let them away with it.
From the turgid pages of FF:

Do we have a real chance to develop a real footballing philosophy, that would be a lasting legacy? By that, I don’t mean simply use Auchenhowie as a conveyor belt of young talent. I mean develop a style of play to be adopted by Rangers teams at all levels, so that when youngsters are ready to make the step up to the next level, they will already know what is expected of them, and they will not be required to adapt their style of play, or be daunted by making that step up.
I fully expect us to be back in the top tier sooner rather than later, and it would be nice to think we could use the time away from the pressures of competing to win a place in the Champions League, or actually playing in Europe to develop footballing values that will stand us in good stead for decades to come.

Breathtaking arrogance and total lack of humility.

I think the time has come for outside appraisal of referees. EUFA could set it up—no point in the SFA doing that particular piece of business. International overseeing of referee performance is the way forward. Bring the good things from other football nations and eliminate interference a la Dallas.

How can you have an ‘old firm’ cup tie when one of the clubs who formed this rivalry no longer exists?

Astounded to forehead ……. They just don’t know what is going on ……… LLLOOOLLL
So we’re comparing baseball to football now?? one of the dullest “sports” about where the game can last 4 hours and can end with a score of 1-0… give yourself a shake mate! how many assists to an assist does Sammi create? quite a lot you’ll find
KevJungle – Murdo..10 men Championees..1979
Posted it last night with credit to poster on CM. Afraid I’m not that creative!!
I really don’t want us to meet the zombies. The draw isn’t even made and the “old firm” patter has started already.
If we end up drawing them, then that will be the cue for more Chucky rantings. Neil will be constantly asked about how much he misses the fixture. There will be plenty of “for the first time in their long history” crap. Attention will be deflected from the real issues, the game will probably be crap as there is no real pleasure in humping the undead.
Thanks for listening. I feel better now.

I heard what he said on the telly yesterday.

No, if I’m honest. I was one advocating his best position is left wing/left of a front 3, but hasn’t set the place on fire now he’s starts there.

this is where we could be letting our gut rule the head, I can see the argument “causes panic in a defence”, but where are the assists and goals to back this up. Could be argued he’s an outball that carries the ball a distance then peters out or makes the wrong choice with little end product. Is he efficient with the ball, have we got more efficient/productive options in the squad?
