The gift of focus for Ajax

695

The last minute goal fell Celtic’s way at the weekend but Wednesday’s opponents, Ajax, were on the receiving end of the sucker punch, losing to a last minute goal at home to Vitesse, just a week after a goalless draw at home to joint bottom Waalwijk.  The Dutch champion’s only win in their last five games was at home to lower league opposition six days ago.

So what does this mean for Celtic?  It means Ajax have found various ways not to approach the Celtic game.  The last thing teams need ahead of a crucial game is an easy or flattering result, far better to show up your mistakes.

If Celtic take the lead, we might find Ajax confidence sinks rapidly, but they will approach the game full of focus, dangerous and with a point to prove.

It’s Christmas time…….

The Celtic FC Foundation (new name for Celtic Charity) Christmas Appeal has been launched.  The 125 Anniversary activities have considerably reenergised the Celtic Movement in getting back to where is all started – looking after those in need.

The Christmas Appeal aims to provide 150 local families who would otherwise go without, a Christmas meal, with gifts for younger kids.

The Celtic support will be helping people through Glasgow East Women’s Aid, Spirit Aid, the Glasgow Simon Community, Loaves and Fishes, The Wayside Club, Glasgow City Mission and Lodging House Mission.

Details of how to help online, and in person, are available here.

Offensive Behaviour Act

Scottish Parliament Justice Committee convenor, Christine Grahame, has agreed to discuss an Early Review of the Act on the agenda for tomorrow’s Justice Committee meeting.  Three members of the Committee are already committed to a Review, details on how to contact others on the committee – it has to be today, they meet tomorrow – are available here, on the Trust website.

Exactly my point on handing things into the police. If I knew about the laptop I would have tried to find out who the owner was and if not kept it.

He’ll love that the Celtic support are missing ‘them’ and the perceived income associated with them existing, and they belief ‘they’ are needed to have a ‘competition’.

The perception that is the reality, when it isn’t.

I note you went on to say how the disease of apathy in Scottish football is a major issue. I agree.

I think when they died, we lost a vile, cheating team, which can only be positive for the game. Liquidation was their death certificate.

I don’t want ‘them’ back. I’d rather they were replaced by Spartans as they should have been.

Celtic have been guilty in their silence. Why would Celtic not support Resolution 12? Does that not remove any doubt you have?

The old firm is dead! Long live the old firm!

The cheating is now an acceptable part of the…. entertainment. *Puke*

  5. It should be written into the Chinese TV contract that on no account should Kilmarnock home games be shown. The sight of their ever empty stand across from the main cameras is totally depressing.

I have no idea why the smaller clubs don;t move fans for televised games from the stand the camera’s are in to make the ground look busier. The fans themselves must be embarrassed seeing their ground empty on TV.

A more conservative option (not necessarily bad away from home) would be to play Ledley in midfield, and replace Stokes with Sammi (even if that contradicts myself, as I don’t like sammi thro the middle – it might steady the midfield 5)

It would look better. When you think about it in that context though. £2m per season is an incredible deal.

Amazes me the amount of people in here who know what Peter Lawell is doing and thinking, if they played Lawell at poker, they would be sitting with only there under pants on, after one hand, I have not got a clue what he knows or doesent know, but I’d put my money on him any day than the chancres on here who think they can outsmart him, dream on, your out of your depths, but do keep posting, more so the Huns among you.

I’m am going to respond to this post to. Well try.

    1. We were integral in recruiting Reagan and Doncaster with the remit of saving Rangers or at the very least parachuted back into the SPL

Were there any sanctions attached to this remit and if there were, why did they not apply? If we wanted them back unharmed and in place, why would we jeopardise our prospects of that lovely CL cash that DD and PL so crave? The scenario you propose makes no sense unless you imagine PL and DD to be undercover masons undermining Celtic from within. I fear the truth is more complex than that.

    * We don’t know the truth. In the interest of transparency and trust, we should have been told.

For the reasons you gave previously. Simply money (competition).

For the reason I gave previously. The Old Firm is alive and well.

    2. That we helped in devising the 5 way agreement

Final version or some form that was never agreed? If the final version, I revert to my last question- what was in it for us?

*It was never signed by Sevco but the SFA went ahead with it anyway. Celtic stayed silent.

    WIIFU? Money.

    3. That the LNS SPL tribunial was an excercise in theatre

It was that, but I cannot believe PL or anyone at CP sanctioned Sandy Bryson’s evidence or managed to nobble LNS.

    * They took a back seat and stayed silent.

    4. That PL was not too busy over the Wanyama trial

I honestly do not understand the reference. Was big Vic found guilty of something?

    * Did PL have the evidence of why SFA should not have gave RFC a European licence in 2011 but never read it because he was busy with other things?

    5. That we were the architects along with Paul Mc Bride for the offensive behaviour bill

I know Paul McBride was in favour of this type of legislation. The public utterances of the Board would suggest they were not. Either way “architects” is giving way too much credit.

    * The customers need to be made sterile to be more attractive to the global market.

    6. That we were aware of Longmuirs bonus a year before it became public

And what business of ours was it at that time? Why would we have benefited from opposing it or agreeing to it?

    * None if money is more important than integrity.

    7. That we necessitated the need for a new league body to protect dodgy going ons from a defunct body. I.e no accountability. And to help Sevco

Define “necessitated”! Were we the lone voice wanting this to happen and managed to persuade others, against their original will, to go along with it?

    * You maybe right that we are in many ways a lone voice. It is my opinion that Celtic want a Rangers because they want the bigot pound. It’s better to not let them die but gain a position of more power than before to give us a head start. Great in the short term.

You claim the CEO of Celtic likes to play strip poker and is good at it? I find that type of character assassination shocking.

  18. Ohhhh, it’s all kicking off now, cause big Peter had a good day, knifes are out, oh and note the notice it isn’t Celtic we are after it’s the SFA, then the digs come in about the bigot pound, aye right, the closer the AGM gets the more tour showing your hand, as I said make sure your underpants at the AGM.

  19. It’s confession time in the new issue of CQN Magazine!

This is a new feature where we get contributors to this blog to confess and tell us their Celtic secrets. We start off in the new edition with a young SFTBs telling us just exactly what he was doing on the evening of 26th May 1967. This is embarrassing. A secret that not even his family knows. Still, he’ll be glad that he’s confessed!
