The most secure club in Europe

868

Ronny Deila has been talking about a treble since early in the season, far too early for my liking.  History suggests that trebles are notoriously difficult to win, even for dominant teams.  The league is usually won by the best team but it’s hard to win every game in two cup competitions, no matter how good you are.

Despite this, I’ll not bet against Ronny getting his wish.  He needs to win four games cup games, three of which would be at neutral Hampden, with only one game, the Scottish Cup quarter final, possibly being played away from home.

The cynic among you will, therefore, expect an away draw, possibly in some far-flung end of the country, like Inverness.  My money is on a trip to Easter Road.  I’ll be happy to avoid Tannadice, scene of our last defeat and a place they’re understandably feeling sort over the loss of Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven.

People of Kirkcaldy: that whole 1994-Ibrox thing, forget about it, we’re OK.

Well done to Celtic for highlighting their position as the least likely football team to financially default, according the US rating agency, Standards & Poor’s.  Commercial and ticket income across Scottish football has fallen in recent years but that was only going to result in Armageddon if those in charge of clubs put an inflated sense of their own importance ahead of paying bills.

See the photo above sent by Mary’s Meals last week of the school kitchen we funded at CQ10.  Work is already underway to raise funds for a fourth CQN kitchen in Malawi after the CQN11 St Patrick’s Dinner, on Friday 13 March at the Kerrydale Suite.  Email me for ticket, celticquicknews@gmail.com

Sevco are now a sideshow. What is being revealed in this tale is a much murkier scene as the cellar door is blown open and light is shone on the corrupt bodies that have been running Scottish football all these years.

The collusion of the SFA,the media and the politicians in allowing this fiasco of rule bending, rule breaking, tax avoidance and general cheating all in the service of the so called establishment club that died in 2012 is beyond parody.

It is not just sporting integrity that is being compromised here. There is a moral and spiritual vacuum at the heart of this long suicide note currently still in the writing. If Sevco was a dead body recently buried, then what we are witnessing is an exhumation for no other reason than refusal to accept that the death occurred.

Somebody in authority outside football has to intervene to bring some sanity to bear(no pun intended)on proceedings.”

  7. I agree about expanding the league; unfortunately broadcasters will always want 4 CFC v SS fixtures.

16 teams, 4 after 30 games, top 4 split off for further 6 games, giving CFC total of 36 games.

Bottom 12 play each other once more, giving them 41 games.

Quite impressed by Championship this year. QOS,. HIbs, Hearts, faith would hold their own in SPFL.

Peebles was very nice thank you. Drove to those gardens you recommended yesterday after we checked out. But the place was completely deserted. Had a short walk through some of the (muddy) grounds but not a flower in site. But thanks for trying ;-)

Went for lunch on the Sunday to Mercat View on the High Street. Loved it so much we went back there for dinner!

Did you know that the distance from Peebles Hydro to Chez Baldie is exactly (well within 1 mile) the same as the distance from Peebles Hydro to Starks Park, Kircaldy. Now there is a coincidence!

Have you had a direct reply from the Compliance Officer to your complaints .

I have been trying to get a reply since the ‘ Not Proven ‘ farce with the Kris Boyd head butt incident , I have also emailed about the McCulloch incidents but still no reply .

  13. Hi Ghuys and Ghirls

Off to NYC for St Paddy’s week (12-19 March).

Any recommendations to see the League Cup Final?

I’ve looked into The Parlour and Jack Dempseys, any others or which of these two would be best?

    Thanks in advance y’all.

I expect something along those lines BUT at least it would be a reply .

These people need to be challenged as to why they are operating a set of different rules for the NEW club , what annoys me most is that the clubs haven’t demanded change at the SFA.

  16. 67Heaven@9:01

That poster from Phil’s site is spot on about how rotten the whole Sevco affair is.

As for reconstruction, I’d rather keep the 4 games against the other clubs, and the split with the possibility of 3 away games against some, than pave the way for Sevco to play in the top tier for the first time without them having to get there by winning via the play-offs.

There’s no need to ‘fix’ our game.

It’s already fixed, as the SPFL website’s official backing of the Big Lie demonstrates.

No reconstruction or rearranging of the league will do any good until it is based on honesty, fair play and sporting integrity.

  17. Igc-The Parlour is out of town a wee bit but a smashing bar,i always pop in whem i’m there as Kelly is a top man.JDs is near Empire State and heard it’s a good bar too mate.Paddy’s Day Parade in NYC, is something bhoys should try to see if they can,a brilliant spectacle.I will just miss you as i’m over on 19th March ,enjoy the best city in the world HH

I watched the 2000 league cup final in the Parlour. It will more than likely have a cover charge and if you are in early you can have a good breakfast to keep you going. We beat the Dons that day. 10 dollars in I would guess.

  20. SAFE STANDING AREAS

    ———————————–

Celtic were ready, about a year ago, to push the button on the above. Peter had, he believed, given all the relevant and updated details to Glasgow Council, and in turn, the safety people.

Glasgow then performed a volte-face and said that all arrangements must now be proceeded with, through the Scottish government – WHY?

    So what has happened?

Are the SNP in such a huff after their ‘stuffing’, that they are not talking to us, or, as is more likely, are they waiting until the Ibrox mob are in a position to make similar changes – you know the old ‘evening-up’ tripe that goes on.

Such is the state of repair and shortage of cash at Ibrox, if we wait on them it will NEVER happen.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

    Any answers?
