The most secure club in Europe

868

Ronny Deila has been talking about a treble since early in the season, far too early for my liking.  History suggests that trebles are notoriously difficult to win, even for dominant teams.  The league is usually won by the best team but it’s hard to win every game in two cup competitions, no matter how good you are.

Despite this, I’ll not bet against Ronny getting his wish.  He needs to win four games cup games, three of which would be at neutral Hampden, with only one game, the Scottish Cup quarter final, possibly being played away from home.

The cynic among you will, therefore, expect an away draw, possibly in some far-flung end of the country, like Inverness.  My money is on a trip to Easter Road.  I’ll be happy to avoid Tannadice, scene of our last defeat and a place they’re understandably feeling sort over the loss of Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven.

People of Kirkcaldy: that whole 1994-Ibrox thing, forget about it, we’re OK.

Well done to Celtic for highlighting their position as the least likely football team to financially default, according the US rating agency, Standards & Poor’s.  Commercial and ticket income across Scottish football has fallen in recent years but that was only going to result in Armageddon if those in charge of clubs put an inflated sense of their own importance ahead of paying bills.

See the photo above sent by Mary’s Meals last week of the school kitchen we funded at CQ10.  Work is already underway to raise funds for a fourth CQN kitchen in Malawi after the CQN11 St Patrick’s Dinner, on Friday 13 March at the Kerrydale Suite.  Email me for ticket, celticquicknews@gmail.com

Eateries – recommend Coia’s Cafe in Duke St, 15 min walk tops to the ground. Brilliant place full of Tims.

Nonsense but don’t let that hinder your agenda.

Safe standing requires approval from GCC Safety Advisory Group, that’s not been granted hence the delay.

You are the one talking NONSENSE – do your homework and check back to Peter Lawwell’s last announcement on the matter.

Your’re another where so little knowledge becomes a sever liability.

    CHECK THE FACTS!!!!

  3. DRs 12 worst tackles in football….

Can’t possibly be valid when Souness only features once. One of the worst thugs to ever ‘grace’ the game.

And as I recall, the featured Souness tackle wasn’t a ‘tackle’ at all.

A tackle is a feature of the game (usually) where 2 players vie for possession of the ball.

In Souness (featured) case, the ref had already blown for a foul and therefore the ball was out of play. Souness then walked up behind McCluskey and sank his studs into the exposed rear of McCluskey’s knee. A ‘tackle’ which could have crippled McCluskey for life.

Also, the ‘tackle’ by Livingston player v Hearts wasn’t a tackle either.

The player was clearly trying to kick he ball clear, totally missed the ball and IMHO accidentally ended up putting his studs in the face of the Hearts player.

I haven’t gone through the rest of the listed tackles but as I said, if Souness only features once, it can hardly be deemed valid.

  4. Should read ‘severe liability’ – but the other works just as well – sever your liability as a poster of tripe!

  6. The reason many people are turning to the SNP is simple – everyone knows that they will stand up for Scotland’s interests.

Scottish Labour Branch office through their actions over many decades have disillusioned so many people that people are turning to an alternative.

Did Commons assist Celtic to success in the two domestic cups…with both the finals played at CP?

What exactly did Commons assist?…success in a one horse league?…a series of skelpings in the CL?…what?

You shouldn’t have tio pester them. In the past it appears that a single complaint from a TV viewer prompted the Compliance Office to investigate and take action.

Any u guys recomend somewhere to eat close to the ground

KFC is only a 5 minute walk from the Celtic End / Jock Stein Stand @ Parkhead Forge, the kids generally love that.

    Read this:

Responding to Mr Kennedy’s letter, Jamie Hepburn MSP said:

“The Scottish Government position remains that under the current arrangements it is for local authorities to ensure that stadia within their areas offer safe accommodation for supporters when granting Safety Certificates in accordance with the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975.

I can therefore confirm that under the approval of any application for standing in a football ground lies with the relevant local authority.”

  17. beatbhoy : Precisely.

I must admit, I love the way Souness, having possibly taken away any prospect of the Aberdeen player having a family, then turns around and points to a minor blemish on his sock as some sort of justification for his action.

A true hun. I am sure he is still idolised in many a lodge.

  18. Alfie

GCC have continually muddied the waters, approval must come from their Safety Advisory Group.

  19. Regarding the rejection of Celtic’s proposal for safe standing on 13th August last year GCC said this may be a matter for the Scottish Govt.

However in a letter to Charles Kennedy MP, the Scottish Government Minister for Sport, Health Improvement and Mental Health, Jamie Hepburn MSP said that it remains an issue to be resolved by the local authority and not the Scottish Govt. That was the case on 15th December last year – http://www.charleskennedy.org.uk/kennedy_keeps_up_pressure_for_safe_standing_for_football_clubs

Ball’s back in the GCC court, as far as I can tell.

    Sky Sports – 11/6/2014

Celtic’s plans to install safe standing Parkhead areas have been delayed following a meeting with the Safety Advisory Group.

    Peter Lawwell – STV 13 August 2014 & Clyde 1 11 August 2014

“Surprisingly, we have also today been informed by the Safety Advisory Group, chaired by Glasgow City Council, that this may be a matter for the Scottish Government,” it read, “and yet we have previously been told by the Scottish Government that this is a decision which must be taken locally at council level.
