The Motor Neurone fight 6 years after Jinky

824

Last month we heard from one of our community, RalphWaldoEllison (John), whose adult son, Tony Conway, has been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, the same strain of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) that claimed Jimmy Johnstone almost six years ago.

Tony, John and their families now live in the United States, but they, along with Tony’s brother Martin, are travelling to Scotland this weekend to watch Celtic play Dundee United.  They will be here for a total of around 48 hours but I will get a chance to meet them and they are going to the game with Jinky’s son, James Johnstone.

I spoke to James last month and he relayed Jinky’s strong views on research into MND.  The fight against this disease will be won one day but there is a great deal of research and political effort required before then.  Tony has committed himself to this end.

This morning James Johnstone told me: “My Dad was my hero and I took great pride in the way he fought this horrible disease, it’s great to see the same attitude in Tony.  I know how much my Dad loved the Celtic fans and his answer to this would be to help get a cure for MND.  Hail, hail.”

I encourage you to visit Tony’s blog dontshrink.com, learn about the condition and leave him a message of support.  The Celtic Movement began by putting food in front of hungry children 124 years ago and it remains one of the most able forces for good in the land. We can pick up this challenge.

There is absolutely no truth in the rumour that Fragrant Kim the Tim has said she doesn’t want any of Craig’s famed warchest where he keeps all his wealth. When asked about this she replied ‘He can pay all the bills himself. He’s no gettin’ a penny aff me! By the way, embdy got a ladder down there?’

That’s a misquote for sure. The actual transcript should read:

PLANS to regenerate the area around Ibrox Stadium could be resurrected, according to Rangers chief operating officer Ali Russell.

The area around the home of Rangers Football Club – known as G51 – has long been waiting for investment.

Now Mr Russell, inset above, claims in the Rangers Monthly magazine that regeneration of the local community could be back on the cards.

In 2005, plans to build a hotel, housing, a casino and other entertainment venues worth £350million were approved by Glasgow City Council but never fully completed.

However, when Rangers vacate the site after liquidation, the whole project becomes much more viable. An insider at Glasgow City Council stated that ‘several large companies with a parking background were actively looking to help solve city centre congestion by establishing the largest park and ride facility in Europe. Unfortunately, it won’t be able to accomodate a casino or hotel, but then the city is full of these already.’

  10. THE wife of Rangers owner Craig Whyte has launched divorce proceedings.

The legal action by Kim Whyte was initiated at the Court of Session yesterday, sources confirmed.

Tycoon Whyte, 40, has been separated from 42-year-old Kim since summer 2010.

No details of the proceedings have been made public but any such action could lead to Kim staking a claim for a chunk of her husband’s assets.

Last night, a legal expert said: “In any divorce a spouse will seek to recover a fair share of marital property, which usually equates to around one half.

“This would include shares in a business, therefore Mrs Whyte’s lawyers will no doubt be watching financial developments at Rangers with interest.”

Brief details of the divorce action were included in the court’s public listings. The case was listed as Kim Lauren Martin or Whyte against Craig Thomas Whyte.

It did not disclose the nature of the case but sources confirmed the action was divorce proceedings launched by Kim.

The couple were listed at their separate addresses in the village of Grantown-on-Spey, in Moray.

Motherwell-born Whyte stays at historic Castle Grant – which he bought in 2006 for £720,000 – on the edge of the village.

Kim, who is originally from Carmunnock, near Glasgow, now lives in a mansion in Grantown.

The couple were married in Naples, Florida, in May 2000 and lived in the millionaires’ playground of Monaco for most of their marriage until moving back to Scotland in 2006. They have three

    children.

Last night, a spokesman for Whyte said it would not be appropriate to comment on the proceedings. He said the action was “a private matter” and added: “It’s got nothing to do with Rangers.”

Kim’s lawyers, Brechin Tindal Oatts, were not available for comment.

Whyte became the majority shareholder and chairman of the Ibrox club in a takeover from Sir David Murray last May.

The divorce action is the latest of a list of legal and business woes for Whyte.

The tycoon and the Ibrox club are involved in a battle with the taxman over a £49million bill.

And he’s currently being probed by the SFA after his admission that he was a banned director.

Earlier this week, shares in Rangers were suspended after the club failed to file audited accounts to the Plus stock exchange on time. Whyte then dropped the strongest hint yet that he might remove the club from the exchange in May.

He owns 85 per cent of Rangers shares after buying the club from Murray for £1. But he’s admitted Rangers could be forced to enter administration should they lose the tribunal with the taxman.

The tax case is due to be called again on January 18, with a ruling expected in March or April.

Gossip about a move to England

Thought i should share some tales i heard recently from someone working at Celtic Park (and previously Ibrox). To save ratting anyone out lets say its Doris the lady that sweeps the dust off their empty trophy cabinet and previously polished all our lovely trophies…

Anyways we were talking about the state of scottish football and Doris told me that a move to England is still on for both clubs. Celtic are apparently willing to drop down to the english fourth division whereas we are holding out for some sort of re-construction of the championship, or ‘were’ holding out the last Doris heard anyway.

The only stipulation is that it needs to be both of us as they are interested in the old firm not just one club. Apparently Craig Whyte is close to rupert murdoch and had hoped to use his influence to force our way down there. (That last bit sounds doesnt have the same basis as the rest and im willing to dismiss it as rumour)

Also it was heard if it came to rangers folding, celtic would do everything they can to help them survive including putting up cash (under the radar of course) as this is their only way down south to the land of milk and honey!

This is allegedly quite far on and it is believed that both teams are shaping up to ship out which may tie in with some views that Whyte wants administration as it makes it a lot easier to sell this to fans.

Feel free to tear this to pieces and find the flawed logic if there is any but the source is the real deal.

For those who also use other forums please do not copy and paste this as id hate Doris to get into any trouble!

    Wonderful tosh dontcha think?
