Tomorrow Celtic have a Scottish Cup tie away to Peterhead, currently second bottom of the Third Division. Peterhead have recorded their only two home wins of the season in the last two weeks, so Celtic’s scouts will have seen them at their best, but the break from league action will allow Neil Lennon to rest players who have been carrying niggling injuries, including James Forrest, whose terrific form could be jeopardised by the stresses of carrying such a prominent responsibility for Celtic.
The game in Peterhead will also give fringe players an opportunity to shine. I suspect Paddy McCourt is still carrying the can for hitting the post against St Johnstone in August, the day it all started to go wrong. We’ve missed him. Emilio Izaguirre and Kelvin Wilson would also benefit from 90 minutes football as the squad reassembles itself, although the game might come too soon for Kris Commons.
News that Beram Kayal’s injury is likely to keep him out of action for four months was sickening. This is the third serious injury Beram has suffered since joining Celtic 18 months ago. I read a bit about grade 3 eversion ankle sprains yesterday. He’ll need the best treatment and recuperation in the days and months to come.

I think with Beram’s style of play, it may be something we might have to put up with. He is usually everywhere in the middle and getting stuck into the nearest opposition player, and I know I wouldn’t want him to change as he is easily one of our best players!

Well Mr Keevins if a compromise is reached for Newco here is what it must be:
1. EVERY single trophy they won while operating the EBTs must be stripped from them and given to their opponents in cup finals and their 5 star nonsense is gone and their directors and managers and players must all stand in the middle of the park and publicly apologize to every single side they play at home for the season. They are the peepel afterall.
2. They can play in the SPL with a 25 point deduction for every year they used the EBT scheme. 13 years or more? How many was it? Harsh? You bet but look at the revenue clubs like Celtic, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs etc etc have suffered due to their cheating.
3. Rules must be put in place so that NO Scottish club can ever spend more than they bring in and they cannot EVER use a dodgy tax scheme – failure to correspond to this will result in automatic demotion to division 3
OR
They can start in division 3 and two clubs come up into the SPL.
To hell with the TV deal. It is a pittance in any event.
A Rangers working their way up from the bottom will benefit the coffers of 30 Scottish clubs for at least 3 years so it is time.
Only these measures will suffice. If the Italian giants can get booted down the leagues so can a gang of villains like them.
Their history is wiped and their fans will suffer the humiliation they bestowed to Scottish clubs by winning trophies they had no right to be anywhere near.

98. A club making payment of any kind to a player, either amateur or professional, must obtain from the player a written receipt for the same showing details of the payment, and any club under the jurisdiction of the Association must produce such receipts to the Association when called upon to do so. For a player registered by means of a Full Professional Form, a club must produce on request receipts for the wages paid to him in terms of his agreement lodged with the Association.

And so begins the biggest battle any of us has ever seen. For the soul of our club, for the future of Scottish Football.
In the years to come, when people ask you what you did to stop it, what will you say? Will you say you did nothing, because nothing could be done?
If you believe that you are not thinking things through.
The things we have talked about are now being openly discussed on radio, by people who would have lived in denial forever until the wolves were howling outside the door. Do not listen to ANYONE who says Rangers “must” be saved, that it is a done deal, that the conclusion is foregone.
It will be a scandal on an epic scale. A company engaged in tax fraud, skipping on its legal and financial responsibilities, annihilating the reputation of Scottish football by being allowed to do so. There will be no recovery for our national sport, not for decades, if it ever recovers at all.
How can our club demand of the fans that we pay season tickets for our club to take part in this debased charade, where the two team (really one team) status of the tournament is written in stone? Would the same arguments be made all over again if NewCo Rangers faced relegation?
Too big to happen? It has happened. It happened to Leeds after administration, when the full consequences beyond clear.
The rules are clear. As I have already stated, the second Rangers goes out of business, if it’s close season, the top team in the First Division (or the relegated team) automatically takes their place. It is that simple. Will that club vote to let them back in? Would it even be legal for the SPL board, or clubs, to vote on this, with a clear commercial interest at stake?
It will take not weeks but probably months to sort out the financial future of Rangers, whether a pre-pack or not, because the largest creditor (HMRC) can oppose any pre-pack move where the new company and the old company are effectively the same. How can argue different if they are playing in the same colours, out of the same stadium, with the same infrastructure, based in the same league?
So yes, it will take MONTHS … if it is allowed at all.
In the meantime, clubs will have made plans and budgeted for the season ahead. The SPL will need twelve clubs in the meantime. In order to allow NewCo Rangers a place, someone else will need to be denied one.
Will they allow it to happen? Will we?
Everything that is good about football in Scotland is under the severest threat. If this goes the wrong way and results in what Keevins calls a “diplomatic understanding” we should IMMEDIATELY offer our resignation from the league, start petitioning UEFA for somewhere else to go and share with them, and the world, each and every thing we know about the running of the game here.
There is no “diplomatic understanding”. We had better cast aside subtlety and call that exactly what it is. A dirty, grubby, stinking, rancid, corrupt, destructive and suicidal back-door deal which legitimises cheating and fraud.
This is a scandal, and it must be called a scandal. This is defrauding the tax payer and cheating the football public. It is destroying the credibitiliy of the national sport and shredding fairness. And all that before it denies another club their rightful spot in Rangers place. If this happens, Scottish football joins the ranks of the walking dead.
I want no part of such a filthy arrangement, not for me or for my club.

Interesting that there is, de facto, a Football Creditors Rule operating in Scottish Football in terms of SFA Article 108.1 above, albeit that it relates to player registrations exclusively rather than all assets generally as in England.

As a poster wrote earlier, there will be no vacancy for them to enter the SPL straight away as a newco.It simply can’t happen folks…as much as clyde with guidi, soup eating hugh,dawwal and the rest of the clowns want to tell us that “scottish football needs a Celtic and a rangers in the league or it will die”….my opinion is then, let it die! and let the scottish media go with it!…Celtic will be fine! our custodians have made sure of that!
I’m convinced that it’s only a matter of time before we move league..we won’t just flounder because they arent around.
A line which someone wrote on this very site has stayed with me through all of this, “whatever part of Celtic is dependant on there being a rangers, then I am more than willing to lose that”….Let them drown in theyre financial mess! They deserve no better in my opinion.
This latest tv deal will become void, if and when they go bust.That will then be Reagans responsibility to negotiate and try and get some form of deal which can be split up fairly at the end of the season.

Thank goodness for we Fergus in 1994. I cannot imagine that consortium at the time taking over the realms of the newco, and Celtic losing the History.

If the SFA own the player contracts and, in an administration/liquidation can sell those contracts for the purpose of paying creditors, like HMRC, people are going to argue that those players can be included in the pre-pack.
That would cost whoever bought Rangers more money than they might otherwise wish to pay. Correct?
Plus, whoever is appointed as administrator/liquidator is legally obliged to get the best price for those creditors. Correct?
So, whatever happens here, it is unlikely NewCo Rangers would have a first team squad worthy of the name. Is this also correct?

Hmmm….. had forgotten about Paddy hitting the post in that game, you hadn’t or Neil Lennon’s acidic criticism, about a Paddy having a ‘whole goal mouth to hit’. Didn’t put that single miss down to why, he features in the side so seldomly.
