Time to call Fifa to account

819

The Fifa Executive Committee meet in Zurich today and tomorrow but it is unclear if the allegations of corruption concerning the decision to award the 2022 World Cup to Qatar will be on the agenda.  The world body are no strangers to allegations of corruption, it seems to be an internal part of the fabric of the game at the top level, they are also extremely experienced at stonewalling such allegations.

The International Trades Union Congress, who are calling for the 2022 vote to be re-run, have called for fans attending games this weekend to turn their back on the field at the 22nd minute, to build awareness of what is going on with Fifa and the Qatari preparations.

When you get corruption at the top of an organisation it tends to undermine process all the way down.  A clean and alert Fifa would give us a far better game.  It’s time we were all asking questions about this.

Congratulations to Mrs Jobo Balde, who won at £50 voucher to spend at Cail Bruich, 725 Great Western Road.  Jobo, drop me and email……….

Seville, The Celtic Movement, is selling like the proverbial……

“I decided to go to the train station only to be told that there were no more trains to Malaga that night and so I was now truly stranded. By chance I met an old man who asked me if I knew where the train station was. “It’s no good mate they are all off—all the trains have gone!”

“The old man laughed and explained that he wasn’t looking to get a train, but just needed to find the station as that is where he had parked his car while he and his wife went to the game.

“We spoke for a few minutes about what had happened to me and then he said if I could get him to the station he would drive me to Malaga as they were staying twenty minutes outside Malaga for the rest of the week!

“I was delighted and accepted the lift and we got to the airport just as the last call went out for my flight. I rushed on board and guess who was there? None other than my mate Jim. I owe that old man and his wife so much for their help.”

    kickinthe…..,

You wouldn’t think that I was born at St.Georges Cross, but left there 60 years ago.

    Like Lionshare today, I am

    now a septuagenarian.

One major advantage we have is that we are contemporary with the Lions.

We were in our prime, when they were in theirs. We could identify with our age peers.

I genuinely feel sorry for the young supporter, who did not witness that team.

No matter how good a player your dads or granddads told you that Bobby Murdoch was, you can multiply that to the factor of x and you would come close.

    He was that good.

The match report tells us Wullie Falconer set up Boro goal for Paul Wilkinson, just before half time. Andy Payton come on 2nd half for Boro, who must have impressed Celtic, as was signed inside the month in a strange swap deal involving Derek Whyte and Chris Morris going in opposite direction

Congratulations….hope you have a swell time on Friday. I have had a few sessions with the lions past and the ones still around…great company and very giving with their time. I believe it was MON that sorted out any nonsense inside CP and took them all out for dinner in his first couple of weeks. Going out for my pals birthday tomorrow, first drink since St Patricks Day…another messy weekend ahead.

For 12minutes Basel were down to 10 men and down 1 nil on the night but

Weefra, last Thursday when I left to head up to Aberdeen the field at the corner of the village (well its not really a village) had one brand new wee lamb skipping about in it. Today I stopped and looked and there were hunners of the wee feckers. I take it the mild winter has been good for the lambs?

I’ll tell you what though, when you see past the cuteness of the wee brand spankin new lambs my only thought is……………………………mmmmmmmm, they look bloody tasty.

  18. Marakesh at 21.32.. perfectly put.. Simple, Honest, Direct.

Radio Clyde, their ‘pundits’ et al, have for years now avoided the simple, yet in their opinion ‘difficult’ questions. The Derek Johnsons and Hugh Keevens of this world, deliberately avoid and fudge this very very simple question.. and in doing so, prolong the argument, continue to support a corpse and stick 2 fingers up to the rest of Scottish Football, who are trying desperately hard to remain solvent in trying circumstances, within the common law, and, more importantly, within the laws of decency, morality and ethics.
