Time to call Fifa to account

819

The Fifa Executive Committee meet in Zurich today and tomorrow but it is unclear if the allegations of corruption concerning the decision to award the 2022 World Cup to Qatar will be on the agenda.  The world body are no strangers to allegations of corruption, it seems to be an internal part of the fabric of the game at the top level, they are also extremely experienced at stonewalling such allegations.

The International Trades Union Congress, who are calling for the 2022 vote to be re-run, have called for fans attending games this weekend to turn their back on the field at the 22nd minute, to build awareness of what is going on with Fifa and the Qatari preparations.

When you get corruption at the top of an organisation it tends to undermine process all the way down.  A clean and alert Fifa would give us a far better game.  It’s time we were all asking questions about this.

Congratulations to Mrs Jobo Balde, who won at £50 voucher to spend at Cail Bruich, 725 Great Western Road.  Jobo, drop me and email……….

Photos are in from CQteN, great work by Geo, as usual. Click on the photo to see hi-res. More to come:

Seville, The Celtic Movement, is selling like the proverbial……

“I decided to go to the train station only to be told that there were no more trains to Malaga that night and so I was now truly stranded. By chance I met an old man who asked me if I knew where the train station was. “It’s no good mate they are all off—all the trains have gone!”

“The old man laughed and explained that he wasn’t looking to get a train, but just needed to find the station as that is where he had parked his car while he and his wife went to the game.

“We spoke for a few minutes about what had happened to me and then he said if I could get him to the station he would drive me to Malaga as they were staying twenty minutes outside Malaga for the rest of the week!

“I was delighted and accepted the lift and we got to the airport just as the last call went out for my flight. I rushed on board and guess who was there? None other than my mate Jim. I owe that old man and his wife so much for their help.”

The bottle allegedly hit one of the Rapid Vienna players although it clearly didn’t but he feigned injury to such an extent Uefa ordered a replay at a neutral venue

Weefra, I don’t have to think differently, they make me happy when I see them, cute as hell but I’m under no illusion. They’re not pets, they’re my dinner.

The best lamb I ever had was when I lived in in Belgium (it probably originated here in Scotland). It was like a beef fillet but smaller, I’ve yet to find out where I can buy this here. I think it might have been the centre cut that you get in lamb chops but it was in one piece. Maybe just the way the Belgian butcher displays his skills. Mrs acgr still rants about it.

    mighty tim,

I left St.Georges Cross in 1953, for Cadder, from where I got married before moving to EK.

Amongst the many famous people who attended St.Columba’s Primary School, was our own mackjay1.

I went to St.Augustine’s Secondary in Milton, where at that time, both BRTH’s parents worked.

His dad was the Science lab technician and his mother, a PE teacher.

Not sure if they were married then,as she was known by her maiden name.

Thom it was a great bus indeed. It was my old uncle Robert that ran it from the day it started until he died they then named it after him before it eventually became the Garscube Emerald.

With the Scottish Labour Party now coming out publicly and saying the Offensive Behaviour at Football Matches Bill, which has criminalised ordinary decent football fans, should be scrapped, underlines the pro active and pre-emtive stance taken by our Club at demanding this hideous, unworkable Bill be reviewed immediately and amended so that a workable, fair and more importantly clear Bill can be agreed and accepted by everyone. Well Done Celtic FC for taking the lead in having this horrendous piece of legislation brought to the fore and pushing for its demise.

    Hail Hail!

I made the point at the Supporters Forum that Celtic had to make the OB a political issue.

Coming out with their own statement was a start but if they managed to get Labour on board then that is something to applaud.

Every country has their own ways of presenting their food, we do cuts that other countries prefer to dismiss. However, you can be assured that Scottish produced food, be it veg, fish or meat, will be to the highest standards to accommodate the Food Standards Agency standards. Night night. :-)))

Couldn’t, agree more there was something about that whole episode that stunk to high heaven, I am note sure but I believe the members supporting us couldn’t,t make the appeal due to adverse weather but the meeting still went ahead in their absence effectively without a recognised committee in place. This that were present were strong supporters of rapid, if the meeting had been held over rapid would have lost, quite appropriate considering the-subject matter of lead article

Thom I went from 71-75 mate. McAvennie was in my year. I ran about Skirsa St and played football at the Vaila St pitches. Drank in the Inn Mallons and the Glen Douglas. Used to go on the Danny Holland bus from Mallons. My sisters still live in Tresta rd. Both grandparents, parents and brother all buried in St Kentigerns/Lambhill.

Weefra, the Belgians certainly have a better way of presenting their lamb. Don’t whatever you do, ever post that on an Aberdeen supporters forum though. Passport control will be inundated.

Bada Bing made a good point earlier about fatboy “tapping up” players. Is this allowed now or is the useless whispering fanny thinking about signing non professional players.

These are the kind of noises that were coming out of the red brick shitehouse right up to the day they made us happy in 2012. They were still adamant they were bringing Daniel Cousin in two days before it all went so brilliantly wrong for them.

Has this imbecile got any idea what’s going on or does he simply kiss the arse of whoever is standing at the top of the marble stair on any given day?

I know we’ve had a fantastic laugh at his utter ineptitude but personally, I can’t wait to see the headline “McCoist Sacked”.

I think it is best to keep the Legned’s apprentice in situ for as long as possible, aye him being sacked would make a Brilliant headline but they will get absolutely, I mean absolutely, did I say absolutely? nowhere whilst he remains there. He is a sleekit wan, exposing the sleekitness for the whole World to see whilst acting the innocent victim, that the press in MSM Scotland are portraying. Ye couldnae make it up. It is Make believe Nonsense that All MSM outlets indulge in.

  27. A Ceiler Gonof Rust on

Petec, how you doing bud. I get all that about the useless apprentice but if the hun management do what they should and sack the despicable fat boy, they aren’t exactly going to be bringing in Jose or Pep. FFS, what decent manager would take on this basket case of deadbeats and mercenaries?

I’m past the point where he’s brought us so much laughter and would love to see him get what he actually deserves, i.e.his jotters.

    Hootenanny ya bam.

  28. A Ceiler Gonof Rust on

OK, I’ll concede that it’s been great watching the huns having the pish ripped oota them with consecutive useless managers taking them for circa £25’000 pounds a week.

    Every little helps.

  29. A Ceiler Gonof Rust on

MurdochauldandHay & Wee Oscar, that sounds expensive. Wayne Rooney spent ten grand getting a baboon’s arse transplanted onto his head. I can save you a fortune with my neighbour’s cat and some superglue. £6.50 for the glue and the job’s done. You can even choose between three colours. I’ve got black, ginger and a kind of greeny blue. Say the word bruv and I’ll get me gun oot.
