UnCommons Moneyball gem

857

Someone made the point to me over the weekend, 30 goals, and counting, from midfield, rivals 53 from Henrik Larsson as a central striker.  It is an unnecessary burden to compare Kris Commons to Celtic’s greatest player in four decades, even Henrik couldn’t compare to the memory of Henrik, but the history books will show for decades to come, Kris Commons is a rare gem, a Celtic player for the ages.

He’s the definition of a Moneyball player, he’s a great multiple Player of the Year and he’s ours.

Enjoy watching him.

Issue 20 of CQN Magazine, CQLisboN is out and enjoying great reviews. You can check it out here, for free, now….

  5. clearly celtic plan to buy quality young players, developing them and sell at a profit.

for this plan to work those players require to preform for celtic domestically and in European football. Q. are celtic better prepared for C/L qualifiers that was the case last year? my opinion is yes

over the last two years celtic have made good money from C/L participation and players sales. celtic have also been very active in getting other players into the squad during that time. the purchases of Leigh Griffiths, Stefan Johansen, Hólmbert Friðjónsson, Teemu Pukki, Amido Baldé, Nir Biton and Virgil van Dijk is testament to that fact.

at the same time celtic have spent money developing and upgrading corporate areas, the kerrydale suite, family stand, elevated disabled seating area and accompanying refreshment area, bought old school and spend several million pounds developing the celtic way and reduced season tickets (2 years running).

celtic have identified and progressed proposed standing area and the new building to house the celtic museum, superstore and café all at a cost of several million pounds.

anybody that thinks GCC paid for the developments around celtic park is living in cloud coco land.

I am not a board apologist and get annoyed when our best players are sold but so long as I see profit used to develop the club I will be happy. to suggest our club is somehow amassing massive profit and not reinvesting is mischief making.

to my mind celtic are balancing budgets between the football department and infustructure projects that will potentially yield rewards for us supporters both on and off the park

we are the champions of Scotland because we have the best team in Scotland that play in the best stadium in Scotland were the best fans in Scotland have access to the best facilities in Scotland, One day we will be able to shop in the best club superstore in Scotland and will be able to enjoy the best football tour in Scottish football.

    dreamer……………………

we are a massive club that plays in a massive city at the centre of sporting activities and facilities. our board have to be thinking about how to tap into this

  15. Heard Jim Naughtie this morning on Radio 4. He was giving his appraisal of the Independence Debate. I hope to Ghod, if we do vote Yes, that he gets to run the BBC (or whatever it becomes here) from Pacific Quay. A class apart from anyone who operates out of there at the moment (and I am aware that he is up here regularly on secondment).
