You and I have enough recent experience to know teams we’ve never heard of, or know little about, cannot be underestimated when it comes to European football. We should expect, and will get, a very difficult game tomorrow.
The good news is that Hapoel Beer Shiva have lost goals in three consecutive matches after a solid defensive run which saw them keep 8 clean sheets in 12 games. But they scored four while conceding in two of those games, the only reversal coming at home to Ashdod in the League Cup last midweek.
They shut up shop away from home in their two earlier Champions League qualifying rounds at Sheriff in Moldova after a narrow 3-2 home win, they kept out Olympiakos before winning the return 1-0 in the last round.
Unlike in previous years, we are not facing a team midseason in the playoff round; Hapoel have had a few cup games but will not open their league season until Saturday.
Hospitality for 3 people at Celtic-Hapoel Beer Shiva at Walfrid Restaurant
Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, have given us three tickets for fantastic hospitality at the Walfrid Restaurant, before, during and after tomorrow’s night’s Champions League qualifier. This is another money can’t buy opportunity for three people to watch Celtic in a hugely important game in sumptuous comfort.
Anyone can enter the competition, however, as this prize of so incredible, I’d like everyone who enters to donate a recommended £10 to the good work of the Celtic Foundation.
You can donate at this MyDonate page.
The Celtic Foundation work to improve Health, promote Equality, encourage Learning and tackle Poverty (H.E.L.P.) in Scotland, the rest of the UK and Ireland, and worldwide. It’s your Foundation, you built and maintain its good work.
A few guidelines for the raffle:
Raffle closes at 21:00 BST TONIGHT, so there’s not a lot of time and I’m not expecting many entries. You will not be entered into the competition if you donate or apply afterwards.
Enter with an email address you are going to check later tonight or early tomorrow, add a phone number, if you like.
You can enter two ways:
By making a recommended £10 donation to Celtic FC Foundation here. Then email me at celticquicknews@gmail.com with Walfrid in the subject line, to make sure I can get in touch with you.
Or
By emailing me the names of every Celtic shirt sponsor and official kit manufacturer. Ever. To celticquicknews@gmail.com
One of the above will be pretty easy for most of us. The other will be pretty difficult. Do the easy one.
Great prize. Only open for a few hours so there will be little competition. Go for it!
Thank you, and thanks to Intelligent Car Leasing for supporting our fundraising efforts.

Aguero hat trick.
5-0
Don’t think I can recall a player missing 2 pens and then going on to score a hat trick in the same match.
TT
Lovely wee flick over the head to skin his man out wide by Hendry
Crossan flagged off side… he looks very quick and strong
2 mins injury time
Bourne, your name made me suspicious of your hun leanings
Young Bhoys showing their mettle against an ‘agricultural’ Cowdenbeath.

Whoever spotted the lad Crossan at Dunfermline has an eye for a player.
Celtic Colts
Positives-
Great skill level
Willing to try and take on a player
Great fitness levels
Always looking to go forward
Some strong players for such a young team
Negative-
God they make me feel old…
Good win for our young guns tonight, it will certainly have cheered up Cowdenbeath’s chairman, old whiskers himself , Donald Findlay.
Were Joe Thompson and Aiden Nesbitt playing ?
Does anyone know what the Sevconians are being charged for a ticket for Paradise?
Someone told me today it was £50!!!
Tell me that ain’t so, cozy if it is , it’s a shocking indictment of our board.
What does it also say about the boards attitude to Sevco?
All aboard the OF gravy train.
Hope to goodness that ain’t right!
Anyway looking forward to the game tomorrow.
Prediction Celts 2 Israelites 0

Dirty fife orange bassas! Get it up ye!
Young Bhoys 2 -Dirty bassas 1
Cowdenbeath lost the plot in the second and it was only due to the refs tolerance they only had one sent off.
Young bhoys stood up to the provocation really well.
The problem I have with the flying of the flag stuff – is who do you think you are?
We, as a people, support the state of Israel in every fibre of its being. If you feel strongly about you beliefs do something about it. Start a movement! Sacrifice your life.
To, however, use the unfortunate Palestinian people and their flag as an adornment to you night’s entertainment shows two things. That you poor little privileged Scottish/Irish/British people – feel free to choose – have too much conceit. And that by choosing an easy route to “show your support” that you are weak and cowardly.
For these reasons I ask that you do not fly any flags.

Great result and second half performance from the U20s to beat Cowdenbeath despite getting 7 colours of crap kicked out of them late on.
Looks like we have a steady stream of good strikers coming through and of course there’s young 13 year old Karamoko Dembele. If you haven’t seen his ‘player of the tournament’ performance in the prestigious St Kevin’s Boys Academey Cup in Ireland check it out. Looks like a brilliant wee ball player.
Well done the Young Bhoys ! Let’s get the job done tomorrow night Celtic !!!
QF,
can i ask what “people” you are talking on behalf of
CELTIC U20s v Cowdenbeath
Doohan; Ralston, Wardrop, McCart, McIlduff; Thomson, Ajer; Nesbitt, Hendry, Miller; Aitchison
Subs: Hazard, Higgins, Hill, Murray, Crossan, Archibald, Johnston
Scorers: Aitchison ( 53 ), Crossan ( 71 )
I feel quite confident about tomorrow night.
But the fact I feel confident is making me worried that I might be too confident.
Which in turn is making me less confident!!
Might not sleep much tonight!

Brighton beat Stubbs Rotherham 3-0 tonight.
Bruno, Dunk, & Bong
all played in the Brighton defence tonight.

Rotherham didn’t stand a chance.

OK, I will be quite clear. I get your point but disagree with you. It will not only be a financial cost. IMHO it will be a partial or full ground closure for this one. That will, no matter how you spin it, cause reputational damage in some quarters. It will also up the ante if/when the fans transgress again.
All this at a time when Celtic will be looking to carry influence whilst CL format changes are taking place.

I see the British Legion have mightily pi**ed off thousands and thousands of female volunteers- one of the volunteers on the radio said the legion were suited men who make decisions for themselves and think they can do what they want – that culture ring a bell with anyone ?
Fan a tic, thanks .
Joe and Aidan must be on developement loans at Dumbarton and Morton respectively , allowing them to play in our under 20 games.
Paul McMullan’s loan at St Mirren last season was the same.
The few times I have saw Joe Thompson , his enthusiasm and willingess to get involved in a game, impressed me. Good we have a young player who can play and not afraid to get stuck in. Liam Henderson is the same.

Well done the young lads. the boy Crossan looks a talent. Very strong and direct. Some very good young prospects, nice football, and stood up well to the physical aspect of the game and against strong men. Yes it was men against boys with the boys coming out on top.
Any of the older posters drawing parallels with the Stein era at the moment, in terms of domination in Scotland and a big batch of very talented youngsters going to come through in the coming years.
I think domestically we are heading for a golden era over the next few years, obviously at the European level it will be a big challenge due to the advantage in finance that the big European teams have, but that apart, good times ahead with Brendan at the helm.
