Values not politics.

522

I don’t know if Scotland have ever worn a poppy but I suspect the SFA have been landed in this issue against their will by association with the FA in England. Fifa have indicated it is a political symbol and prohibited its attachment to football shirts. The FA and SFA plan to disregard that ruling and wear the poppy anyway.

Deliberately defying the rules is laced with Moral Hazard for the SFA, which will not be lost on the decision makers at Hampden. For years to come this act will be cited as evidence of double standards. It provides evidence for those who object to its very recent inclusion in football ceremony on the basis that politics should have no place in football.

Of course, declining to follow the FA’s lead would be a political act in itself, but one which fell within the rules.

I’m firmly of the belief that politics (as opposed to values) should have no place in football. I know this is a utopian aspiration, as sport and politics are inextricably linked, but only because trumpets continually insist on making them so.

Can I still wear my Reggie Blinker wig or is that now considered cultural appropriation? Last place I want is to be is in Honey G’s pigeon hole…..

Why are we having this issue so soon? Is it that difficult to keep within the very few rules of the blog?

    Macjay1,

    OK, I’ll try again.

Mrs.May telling FIFA to put it’s own house in order, on the day that she has been stopped from undermining her own House, wherein she presides as the unelected PM.

    Irony or what?

The rest of my post should be self explanatory.

    =====================================================================

But she WAS elected by the members of her own party in the time honoured tradition of her party in the House of Commons.

    The Mother of Parliaments.

If you have concerns about the method used by the Conservative Party after the resignation of the previous incumbent to elect its new leader , then do you have any comment about the election of Comrade Corbyn ?

I would hope you would have the consistency to express your concerns in that regard.

    *******

First of all, My whole point is non party political.

I left Scotland 38 years ago, therefore I also left behind my vote.

I do not believe in representation without taxation, therefore I keep my nose out of another countries politics.

One this occasion, I am commenting on an individual, who actually wasn’t elected to her PM role. There was no election- it was a walk over as no one stood against her.

To attempt to subvert the rules is a dangerous position for anyone to adopt. For a political leader, it is both dangerous and madness.

To undermine the authority of a country’s Parliament, is akin to an attempt to establish a dictatorship and an end to dictatorship…..no matter what country you live in.

Your Corbyn comment went way over my head and sounded petty and not worthy of any respect I have for you.

As for the populist jingoistic jibe to FIFA. Bad and all as they are, it is ironic that she attacked them for quoting their rules, which apply to every form of adornment to a football kit, when she made an attempt to subvert the corner stone of British democracy.

However, what worries me more, as a member of the human race, is the gradual lurching towards war, that the world leaders are leading us to.

The rise of nationalism is a red flag, therefore, more than ever, we need a strong, united Europe.

America has gone crazy and GB is following in it’s wake.

That should worry us all, even if you live thousands of miles away.

I’m distraught when I go to Hoxton and Shoreditch now, some legendary parties and clubs down there before the hand knitted bearded organic mob moved in and destroyed it.

It’s cool – was the pie at least a tip of the hat to your warehouse conversion appartment that is in an old pie factory?

Where have you gone Jo Inge Berget????

  18. Wot no PIES??????? ( £2.80 Jungle Prices )

You have my sympathy without a pie, or at least the very thought of a pie, to be consumed life would just be too horrid to contemplate.

  19. Brick Lane has been ruined – full of Sugar Puffs munchers.

Handy for Rough Trade though. Spent a fortune last time I was down there..
