Week with a sting in the tail

781

The narrative was set for Aberdeen.  After six consecutive league wins without losing a goal, their bubble was burst when they drew with Dundee and St Johnstone, but it hasn’t turned out that way.  They have scored 10 and not conceded in the three league games since.  Out of the Scottish and League Cups, their entire focus is on beating teams less resourceful than them in the league, which is everyone apart from Celtic.

Despite Celtic’s impressive ability to collect points dating back several months, Aberdeen are hanging in there, a remarkable achievement.   The only thing which separates the teams are Celtic’s two 2-1 wins in their previous meetings this season.  From Saturday afternoon Aberdeen’s complete focus will be on their visit to Celtic Park on Sunday.

By contrast, Celtic will return to Glasgow early Friday morning after their trip to Milan.  They will face Aberdeen pretty much as that trip leaves them.

If I was offered a win and a defeat this week, I’d take the win in Milan, but we will need enough in te tank for Sunday’s game.

Thanks to everyone who booked a ticket over the weekend for the CQN11 St Patrick’s Dinner on Friday on 13 March at the Kerrydale Suite.  Anyone still to catch up, let me know, celticquicknews@gmail.com

Amy also ignores her own family history, which if she really did know it, would never have set foot in Ibrox in a million years.

  2. 67Heaven thanks for that, yeah he is our latest recruit, his dad said life memory for him. I’ll pass on your good wishes. Hail Hail Hebcelt

What an absolutely brilliant performance of a lovely song.

Cork singers have a very distinct lilt in their singing voices, which makes them sound sweeter.

Talking is different, though. Unintelligible !!!

    Thanks for posting.

  4. I’ve not read back but I think John and Kris were having a laugh, maybe even introducing a new goal celebration.

    What’s the alternative on it?

Isn’t Amy Mc.Donald the wee girl that Rod Stewart heard busking in Glasgow and brought her on stage at he SEEC to sing You’re in my Heart?

Why should we worry about Aberdeen and be happy if wee get a point a piece ? We are at home we have the better squad so lets go out and put them in there place. We are the Champions.H.H.

Exactly. Beat aberdeen on Sunday, beat st johnstone next Wednesday and we’re 9 points clear with 11 games to go. We can then concentrate on the cups for a couple of weeks.

So much for the Vidic will never play for Inter again rumour !

Media assuming that Shaqiri and Palacio are being rested for Thursday . Another outing for the 2nd choice goalie ( support think he is duff .) No info re Handanovic being fit to play on Thursday ( or not !)

celtic mac … I dont know much about her … suffice it to say, I’ll not be asking her out to dinner …. that’s her told!

Thomthetim … think that was Amy Belle …

JFH … I agree. as demonstrated on the weekend, our fitness and attitude under RD is good enough that we should be looking to take all 3 points, even after a tough Euro game …. If we beat IM, then that should give us a boost for Sunday …. if we lose to IM, then we know that we need to focus on the treble … either way, I’m expecting 3 points on sunday!

Just hinting at needing a boat to get about wae all the rain that fell me thinks :))))

    Till later all

  12. I think Amy MacDonald sang at the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony at Celtic Park, so at least she knows what a proper stadium looks like (last night’s comments re the media zone notwithstanding :-) )

  16. Joe,

    I hear ye.

I think we are good enough to win both games. Certainly the dons one.

I think where any ‘fear’ is coming from is Aberdeen have ran us close already this season. Beaten us twice last season and we will be playing them after an European away game. They are also much improved on last season imo.

Funny results often happen before or after euro travels.

    Re The Soldiers Song:

It’s an old tactic to hurt the Celtic. They try it every now and again.

In the 1950’s the Tri-colour was the battleground, when bizarrely enough Hibernian were the public face of our attackers.

More recently, the caution meted out to Artur Boruc, was a barometer for just how far we have progressed as a country.

This weekend some of the hurting lot have been given credence by a failing media outlet who out of desperation court controversy.

Perhaps, we should be reflecting on their success in generating a reaction ?

Wouldn’t it be wonderful though, if as a result of their venom, our supporters adopted the correct chorus of the Soldier’s Song ?

  18. JTT, if your lurking sorry about Caesar last night:)

Just to put all in the picture… JTT locked his Hackney up after a long nightshift, only for the alarm to go off….that darn cat had sneaked in and JTT thought he had forgot to drop off a passenger :)

    Goal celebration.

    Absolutely not.

Was right behind that goal (had moved up to get out of the downpour). KC completely miscued his shot and fell on his bottom. When the ball went in he started laughing AT HIMSELF for making such an arse of things.

He was starting to get up when big JG flopped down in front of him and IMO was joining in the joke and slightly making fun of KC.

The rowing bit was just an add on given they were in the unusual position of sitting facing each other…a bit ludicrous really.

They were so wound up enjoying their moment … there was no other intent in my view.

Celebrating a goal not winding up or disrespecting anybody.

Yeah I was just going to post about the singing. What a Chanter :) Me and the wife have listened to it a few times already.

  23. Podolski now missed two excellent chances for Inter. They still look much better when going forward. Started slowly but looking decent now.
