‘WE’VE PREPARED FOR THE FIGHT,’ JENZ

MORITZ JENZ is hoping for a capital performance when he is expected to play his 14th Celtic game since arriving on a season-long loan from Lorient.

It will be the German centre-back’s first appearance in Edinburgh when the champions lock horns with Hearts in the 12.30pm kick-off at Tynecastle tomorrow.

He played against Robbie Neilson’s side in the 2-0 win at Parkhead on August 21 after he had scored against Ross County (3-1) and Kilmarnock (5-0) away from home in his first two league outings.

Jenz is anticipating a gruelling and testing 90 minutes and said: “It will be a tough game, we know the atmosphere is very tough and they will be physical.

“We also know they’ve had a little bad spell, but we’ve prepared for the fight tomorrow and we’ll play the way we play like always.”

ON THE BALL…Moritz Jenz hopes to make his debut in the capital against Hearts at Tynecastle tomorrow.

The Hoops prepared for the confrontation with an impressive 4-0 win over Motherwell in the Premier Sports League Cup at Fir Park in midweek that set up a semi-final meeting with Kilmarnock at Hampden on January 14 with a 5.30pm start.

The elegant defender continued: “For us, a clean sheet is just like a goal, so it’s very nice, it shows all our hard work and that we’re working hard to keep the ball out of the net.

“We’ve still created a lot of chances, a huge amount of chances, but just couldn’t take them and I think it just clicked.

“It was taking time, but it was about to happen and once the first goal goes in, for the strikers it’s like a rush and they score more and more. Hopefully, they continue with this pattern.”

Jenz, speaking to Celtic TV, added: “We’re showing that we’re performing well, but I think, in general, we were performing in a good manner.

“We were still creating a lot of chances, we were still dominating a lot of games, it’s just that we didn’t take the chances.

“At the end of the day, it’s all about goals and it’s just good that the strikers are clicking again and, hopefully, they can continue with this momentum going from match to match and scoring a lot of goals.”
