I wonder if we will see two rival Scottish Premier Leagues next season? We could see a SPL consistent with the threats made to SFL clubs last week, let’s call it SPL Loyal, with Hibs, KIlmarnock and a few others. They would sit atop a feeder league containing whoever they could attract from the SFL and Sevco, who due to fan power would be excluded from the top division, no matter how few teams that division had.
Meanwhile a rival SPL could setup, let’s call it SPL Solvent, with Celtic, those from the Gang of 10 who realise they are better-off participating in a league which is likely to survive until next May, along with the teams who last season finished near the top Scottish Football league.
SPL Solvent would make no threats to exclude SFL clubs who were due promotion on merit, and would therefore attract the balance of SFL clubs; which is likely to be the overwhelming majority. This league would contain the only club with the ability to underwrite the commitments needed to bring broadcasters and commercial partners on-board. It would also be free of, moral and ethical questions, where clubs are united with their fans on what it means to organise sporting events.
It’s not the worst idea floated in recent weeks.

Re: Jabba…a couple of years ago I was talking to the wee sidekick he used to have on his show (Annie something or other), and she insisted that Jabba was more inclined towards the Tic than the huns.
Never believed her…
Was surfing the Rankers media headlines, they have a new MSM hero, step forward Jabba, a site well known and respected for its intellectual erudite well balanced content, Jabba will fell very comfortably at home with like minded souls

Stupid enough matey to accept an EBT tax dodge.
When are these journos going to get it?
Apparently not only does our game need a Rangers type team to exist in order for the game to be successful, it also requires a Rangers type team to be competing for trophies, and in as high a league position as possible, in order to be successful.
Well, old rangers were only succesful for the past ten years because they dodged millions in tax. Previously they were only successful because they racked up tens of millions of pounds in losses which wer accommodated by a complacent bank. Old Rangers were only successful by running a financially bankrupt model; if we are saying that the league needs a sustainable challenge to Celtic in the form of a Rangers type team, which must be accommodated despite the rule breaches and despite Rangers actually matter of fact going out of existence then the game is bankrupt as it is, rigged in favour of the team to challenge Celtic.
Even if you accept that Sevco is a “sporting” continuation of old Rangers (which is laughable in itself), the offer to SPL/SFL chairmen is to allow a club which dodged millions in VAT/PAYE/NIC, got bankrupt, and re-emerged debt free to be parachuted straight into either SPL or SFL1. Is that REALLY the precedent our game should set? What does that say about the financial credibility of our other clubs, many of whom would surely be tempted to go through similar managed insolvencies? What does it say about the sporting credibility of the SPL?
New Rangers should start in Division 3, if that.
Can anyone enlighten me as to where the 16 million loss to the game comes from ? Anyine got any idea how this was calculated (apart from the obvious, plucked from thin air !)
Thanks
Goodmorning…..
Having just read the excellent rangerstaxcase and the scotsman article with walter myth, I now feel much better within myself knowing how much the myth is hurting.
Once again the myth is given a platform to spout lies, myth’s and made up halfbaked jackanory storytelling agenda driven exhun nonsense.
Its amazing that this self declared bigot still commands any respect at all after he has played such a major part in this corrupt scandal that has brought about the death of ‘ part of the fabric of Scotland ‘.
Now that the myth has shown his face ( we know he has two of them ) after his farce of a take-over maybe now he will answer some questions from a REAL journalist.
Alex Thomson has a few simple questions for you Walter Myth.
1. Did you have an EBT?.
2. If yes, was it after you had left rangers?
3. If yes, for what reason were you due payments by way of an EBT after leaving rangers?.
Im sure the all the stupid hurting exhuns would love to know.
Its not as if your a chancer who knowingly took/spent money that you knew the club couldn’t afford and couldn’t pay back, for your own benefit, which lead to the club’s extinction.
Did you walter?
Won’t be long now …….l cannot wait for the new season to start…..
Wonder when jabba will get his head together and print a consistent viewpoint …… He, and other journalists ?, will also have to rethink their strategy under the new ‘fairness’ structure …….. he, and keevins, will have to start talking about football …… Now that WILL be funny…….LOL
You realize that with their lies Walter Myth Ally The Lonesome Pieman, John Brown and the MSM are setting up a backlash against the people who have stood up for integrity in the game, the Hordes of Broxpox are only too willing to believe the lies and half truths perpetuated by these cheats and if they don’t get the result they desire there may well be a reaction that none of us want to see where threats become a reality on the streets of our fair land….
JackGlasgow on 2 July, 2012 at 11:18 said:
A quick calculation shows that the 16 million comes from the following:
ten million pounds per year swindled from the tax payer by rangers
x-amount of season tickets to ibrox will be lost at another 2 million pouds.
two million pounds from a biannual drawfest in Europe that gets a second Scottish team past the first qualifying round
one pound per year for the anual sale of rangers
and the rest is the lost pie revenue after all you-bot-awrraaa-pies-you-ownehhh-rainjjjuuurrrsss.
Traynor n co seem to realise that the best thing for scottish football is for every club to cut their cloth according to there own income, stop playing a small fortune to players who are earning far more than they deserve and to bring through their own players who are currently being stifled by waste of space players.
For example we should be looking to sign 2 experienced pros to give experience to the current squad and promote the u19s to the 1st team squad and actually PLAY them week in week out in the SPL to see if they are the real deal.
Look at Falkirk last year, a team of wee boys, but they looked a team of good players.
All we are saying is give youth a chance!!!!!!

Jabba claims
But research has shown the game will lose £16million if Rangers are dumped in the Third Division
Has Jim traynor seen the result of this research? the clubs preparing to vote at the SPL/SFL meetings claim they haven’t seen the research and thereby had a chance to evaluate that research, now surely Jabba isn’t flying a kite here on behalf of Sevco? he wouldn’t compromise his journalistic credibility would he? maybe for succulent lamb

I did not know his Grand Mother is Polish Jew.
How much of that so called £16m is actually gate money lost a ipox? I’d say that would account for about £15m of it!!!

Re Trayor:
In football as a whole £16m is peanuts. It is the proce of integrity and as UEFA are so strong on it and have a few bob, why not ask them for a loan on soft terms to be repaid over 10 years from the pot Scottoish clubs earn from UEFA competition?
In a way UEFA created the circumstancesthat ruined Rangers and Scottish football with itwhen they allowed clubs to dictate that winner and top finishers take all.
There is more than enough dosh in UEFA competition to go around and UEFA should be asked for £16M as the price of the integrity Mr Platini, rightly, says is so imprtant to football.
But hey that would wipe away any last vestige of any argument for not applying the rules and their consequences to Rangers as was.
Traynor & Co – avoir de la merde dans les yeux

In my life time, there have been a great many Rangers` peepil in positions of power in Scottish football. Never a peep (il) about it. Now, we have three or four Celtic folk holding office. Well, let`s see.
From RM. Before long they’ll be blessing themselves when they score:
“Light Blue Moon Rising Perhaps an opportunity to change our style of football
After watching a supberb Spanish team win the Euro 2012 with a superb exhibition of fast accurate passing with skilful movement ,perhaps if we are playing our football in the 3rd division next season, whoever is in charge of the club at that time ,will put in a plan and develop the young players ,who will make up the majority of the team, to play with the same philosophy . We would have 3 years to train and develop and introduce the culture of playing in this “Spanish” way and by the time we get back to the SPL we will be a real force playing attractive passing football and ready to take this style of football into Europe .Lets climb out of each division playing passing football thats attractive on the eye and who knows perhaps out of the darkness of this time a Light Blue Moon may rise ? What do you think ?”

Charity is winner in 14th AICSC Dinner in Dublin
By: Newsroom Staff on 02 Jul, 2012 11:29
THE 14th Annual Charity Dinner of the Association of Irish Celtic Supporters’ Clubs took place on Saturday at the Citywest Hotel Saggart Co. Dublin and once more the event was a resounding success.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon attended along with Hoops stars Anthony Stokes, James Forrest and Tony Watt with this year’s AICSC event raising much-needed cash for The Irish Kidney Association and Down´s & Proud.
Once more the hospitality afforded to the visitors was second to none and plans are already underway for next year’s function.
The AICSC also presented Celtic with a cheque for 600 euros to go towards the recent visit of the Thai Tims to Glasgow and Belfast.
On the night, more than 6,500 euros was raised for charity.
Neil Lennon said: “Once more it’s an honour for myself and the players to come and represent the club in Dublin.
“As always, the welcome we received was fantastic and I’d like to thank everyone involved, not just for a wonderful charity evening, but for their continued support to the club.”
Meanwhile Celtic and its worldwide fan-base continue to prove we are more than just a club
This might be controversial, but I really hope that with a new dawn and the ashes of Die Hunnen beneath us, we can move on with some of the songs that continue to be sung at away games.
The young team, time and time again at away games, put our good name at risk with singing songs (albeit songs that we can argue about on how legitimate they are but nonetheless) that have been deemed as outlawed.
We should not give them anything to chip away at us with.
bed.
I have high hopes for Tony Watts emerging as a real talent this upcoming season.
