Contrary to our earlier understanding, Rangers did not win a ruling from the Court of Session on who was to be appointed administrator, HMRC and Rangers came to agreement on the appointment of Duff and Phelps, who acted for Whyte during his takeover of the club.
The admission by Duff and Phelps that today’s court action by HM Revenue and Customs was in connection to circa £9m unpaid tax accrued since the takeover in May last year will come as a surprise no one in the Celtic Quick News community. This is why Rangers are now in administration, it’s nothing to do with the big tax case, or indeed, the wee tax case.
Key question is, what will HMRC do now? They’re not going away/. Rangers continued to sign football players despite being delinquent with taxes, and briefed journalists that they rejected a £9m offer for a player on 31 August 2011.
The fact that the business is in administration due to activity carried out under Craig Whyte’s tenure may also interest the Insolvency Service, who are already investigating Whyte’s takeover of the club following information passed by former chairman, Alastair Johnston.

I’m becoming monomanic now so bear with me…(OCD!)
My Granda spoke about Third Lanark and Queenspark vividly…My dad drew reference to them a few times – I know about both teams but they never cross my mind…
How many generations (maybe just years) before Huns are a vague memory for most fans in Scotland…?
Time for a name change me thinks.
Thinking of pablophanque tonight. He would have loved how today panned out.
Maybe he sill did enjoy it.

Right, were are aw these Celtic supporters that want tae see the ragners survive for the sake o scottish fitbaw.
Six buses go from our club every home game, so 6 x 52 approx 312 bhoys every home game yet to hear ONE say we need
a stong ragners, lucky enough to be in the investors lounge, not heard ONE person say we need a strong ragners,
can you see were I’m goin here, show your selves, cause the press say we need them, as Jim Royle said MY ARSE.

Paul 67, well done on 5. As others have said, Tony did not really encourage a sensible discussion. You were introduced as a Celtic blogger? It cant be long until and I look forward to the day when this site and the work you do earns its rightful and respected place in Football media! Ps I heard you thinking, ‘we dont need your stinking Rangers!’ :o) Keep up the great work, it is much appreciated especially on glorious days like this! sTICks
DR hilarious headline,
“SFA must boot tax dodger whyte”
couldnae make it up……….oh…..apparently ye can

I vividly remember March 1994 when the whole country prepared to celebrate our passing.
There were no cries of ‘the game needs Celtic’ or ‘Rangers need Celtic to survive’.
Thats one reason I’m gloating like 67 style tonight. I remember 18 years ago.
The main reason however is that the ultimate shame has be brought to the institution
that shamed Scotland.
I never thought they could outdo Barcelona 72 but they easily managed that in Manchester 2008.
Today the huns reached a new low, and one which will stain them, or their memory, for another century.
A climax thouroughly befitting of a rancid organisation.
PS…can somebody start a debate on todays inflation figures so I can get some sleep.
;-)…..hh
Craig Whyte arrives in London tonight
Who said Raglan Road – Luke?
I usually only play this on Fridays as my time for bed song. And I do have work tomorrow. But I’m not quite ready for bed.
What a perfect meld of music and verse.
Thanks Caeser67, and well done Ian Anderson, best song you’ll play all year.

would like to thank Paul67 and the other guys who work tirelssly in the background to give us all a voice ..an independent voice
when previously we had nothing …other than within our immediate circle or supporters clubs
the power of the new media is awesome and fair play to every one of you for making this place special….it is frightening to think waht can be achieved
my final thought today will be how Jock Stein and his Lions set the bar so high the rankers have choked trying to reach it…and now they never will
god bless all Celts

CW arriving in London tonight
http://i40.tinypic.com/2ueiemv.jpg
haud the bus !
I don’t want to put a dampner on today momentous events but I ask you this – is CW stupid or devious (or both)?
My money is on the “devious.” Administration was his intention from the outset. His work until now has been all about setting the appropriate scene – bring Murray back into the picture and force HMRC to put them into administration. He’s not spent a bean !!
Racking up £9million in unpaid taxes since his appointment as chairman is as clear and indication as any that he was not going to introduce money that would effectivley disappear with administration an inevitability.
It therefore raises the question – where is the Ticketus money?
It seems to me that CW is betting on the demise of the present club but the introduction of newco with, suprise suprise, zero debt and the financial backing that was promised when he purchased the existing club.
Meanwhile, we have ridiculous comments from their fans, crying as if the world has collapsed. Journos demanding that thi “institution” cannot be allowed to die. But let me tell them, that £9 million, £58 million, £75 million, whatever it is, would have been more than welcome to those more deserving than greedy Rankers players and officials. How many apprenticeships could be serviced with this money? How many African schools could be established.
My goodness, that sort of money might even pay for the policing of Orange marches in the summer.
I pray to God that this country does not permit one of the biggest swindles of public funds ever.
I like the name of Glasgow Shamrock for a new SPL team

Definitely mate. Ok bedtime night Bhoys

Heading to Barbers, then Saville row, finally Harley St for Plastic surgery…all part of the Lord Lucan – new identity plan?

A former Saint Stephens Port Glasgow pupil on SSN there.
Scottish Football needs a Strong Rangers.
and to sum it up says
is Rangers fans gonny go to the away games and keep putting money into scottish football ?
they need to he says.
and
when we was at Ibrox, there was a genuine feeling we were chasing the European dream.
————————————–
The soup taker needs corrected ,
the correct saying should have been
“are Rangers fans”
and secondly, as I join the dots, what would make a Port born, Saint Stephens , Shamrock player forsake two equal pay offers from England, to join Rangers back then ?
a second contract , maybe.
hmmmm

Hilarious picture…if he’d been caught in a duty free shop…well then…

The following are wee strategies from Sun Tsu (The Art of War) and still hold true.
Celtic Strategy
When a country is beset by internal conflicts, when disease and famine ravage the population, when corruption and crime are rampant, then it will be unable to deal with an outside threat. This is the time to attack.
Murray Strategy
Delay entering the field of battle until all the other players have become exhausted fighting amongst themselves. Then go in at full strength and pick up the pieces.
Craigy Strategy
While carrying out your plans be flexible enough to take advantage of any opportunity that presents itself, however small, and avail yourself of any profit, however slight.
HMRC
Cornered prey will often mount a final desperate attack. To prevent this you let the enemy believe he still has a chance for freedom. His will to fight is thus dampened by his desire to escape. When in the end the freedom is proven a falsehood the enemy’s morale will be defeated and he will surrender without a fight.
Or it could have been:
With baits and deceptions, lure your enemy into treacherous terrain. Then cut off his lines of communication and avenue of escape. To save himself, he must fight both your own forces and the elements of nature.
in modern parlance – they’re fecked!

Rangers in liquidation?
http://www.photoree.com/photos/permalink/2900760-22508531@N08
Evening guys,
I have lurked for a long time on this great site, many thanks to Paul67 for his great work, but what has made me have the need to post and get my thoughts out there is everyone telling me that I NEED rangers.
I just want to say this to them, I support Celtic because they are CELTIC. I don’t get excited about Celtic because they play rangers four times a season, I get excited because CELTIC are playing. I don’t love and support Celtic because they are rangers rivals, I love and support them because they are CELTIC.
I don’t need any other team. The only team I NEED is Celtic.
Just thought I would say that out loud before I went crazy……..er
bournesouprecipe, that picture is up there with yesterday’s Craig in happier times classic! :o)

Just reading about Paul67 being on 5 Live, my old man text me to tell me the other “Rangers” supporter was none other than a former football coach of mine- who was always nothing but a prized erse.
He was always a Jambo, who is obviously able to afford the fare for the bus strip to Castle Greyskull now. Walloper.
Delighted for him, and many others of his ilk around Scotland and elsewhere right now.
They are hurting badly…
Hail Hail,

If Whyte was truly as shrewd as many make out.. He would have approached Lenny!
Lenny has fantastic ability to turn that around!

I’m not too worried. There are now too many people, bloggers and “proper” journalists following the money that I don;t think it will be possible for him to pull a fast one.
For example, if he has squirrelled away the £20ish million ticketus money and the £9m unpaid tax and the £5ish mill Jelavic transfer money…he will have to pay it back to someone (Ticketus, HMRC, his own company, Rapid Vienna/Dundee Utd/Hertz); and the huns will still owe money to HMRC and others, will still be sending out more money than is coming in, will not have the benefit of season ticket income from the 23000 STs sold off, will not have income from catering (sold off already), merchandise (sold off already), and will have to (God forbid) cut their cloth accordingly. Like the rest of us.
I would settle for them starting again in SFL Div 3 (provided their application and business case is better than Spartans’ or Gala Fairydean’s) and meet again in 3 or 4 seasons. Maybe a warm-ball draw in the fourth round of the 2013/14 Paddy Power Scottish Cup, for a reminder of what it used to be like to have a team that really hated us, but we had outgrown their hatred and replaced it with dismissive superiority. A bit like Man U – Man City from 1975-2010.
Paul… When’s the vision of the future of Scottish football article?
It’s going to benefit everyone?
