Whyte is still the only bidder and he didn’t even bid

1027

It was theoretically possible someone could have bid for Rangers today but it was always more likely that interim-managers, Duff and Phelps, would get offers that were dependent on a remarkably positive upside.

Sure, if HRMC get their bums handed to them on a plate by the First Tier Tribunal (FTT), Craig Whyte decides to tear up his security on Ibrox and Ticketus forget where they put the contract of sale for the next three years season tickets, even I’d bid for them.  Not much, though, I’m only interested in Waitrose Park out at Milngavie.

There is nothing Duff and Phelps can do about the FTT but wait for the verdict.  It might report in their favour.  If so, it’s game on and they will surely invite offers for sale again, until then, they will have to shuffle paper and look busy.

No one has been able to shift Craig Whyte’s security or offered to buy Ibrox from him, so he is the only real bidder for Rangers and I don’t think he even bid today.  Our old friend Game Theory would have us busy planning for a scenario when he exercises his power in this game.  Ostracising him might encourage him to walk away, or it might force him to dig his heels in.

Game Theory would also suggest we don’t play poker when we know the other guy has four aces, they don’t often walk away.

Pay the man or find a way of telling yourself he’s not that bad after all.

  1. Great start to the sporting weekend. That’s one of the few times I’ve watched a full match and what a disgusting songbook from their support.

Apart from the usual loyalist garbage, Jock Stein was abused, Andy Walker’s wife was chanted about, the Famine song reappeared, Bobby Sands was repeatedly chanted about and we’re all Fenian B’s.

    I’m an unrepentant one!

“We don’t need no stinkin’ Rangers!” It would certainly clean up the Scottish game.

  6. Hope me having a ticket for Ibrox next week is not going to deprive any CQNr the opportunity of going to the game and thereafter to come rushing on here to tell everyone of his shock and horror because of what the Huns were singing

Ps Celtic have a final to play tomorrow before going anywhere near Ibrox please discuss

Thought United were awful today and very lucky to win, the Huns were all effort and Aluko apart zero skill, 2 poor teams and not a great advert for Scottish football, still, always good to see the Huns get gubbed.

yeah, big game for the tempers next week. remember the rules, they foul 4 times for a yellow and we foul once, so we are in for a tough game and no football will be played at all, so Neil will go big for next week to scrap a 1-0 and no one killed.

Happy St Patricks Day to one and all.

For the horsey people on here: Three or four years ago, in the last race of the last day at Cheltenham, J P McManus had two horses in the race. One was priced at 6 or 7 to one. The other 50/1. I backed the favoured horse and the 50/1 shot duly romped in. It was later revealed that McManus had fifty grand each way on it. I was as sick as the proverbial Skegness donkey at the Glasgow Fayre.

I missed Cheltenham almost completely this year but did manage to get to a Bookies for the last race yesterday. Lo and behold, J P McManus had two horses in the race – Kid Cassidy at 4/1 (with McCoy on board) and Belvano at 20/1.

Remembering what happened a few years ago, I stuck £20 on the outsider, Belvano. It duly romped home at a canter. J P McManus, very sneaky!

Does anyone know how much jelly and ice cream you can get for £400 ?

They are dying on the pitch as well as off it, the club that just keeps giving- us laughs.

It plain to see that this management malarky is not for the fat tea boy, I had to laugh when the commentator says the goal came about because of mcmoist clever substitution, if I was a Hun I would be asking why he played a youngster at a difficult away venue, instead of an experienced player like aluko.

If that’s the team we play next week we will hammer thems, my only concearn would be thems damaging one of our players with their agricultural style of fitba.

Only aluko and davis look as though they would trouble us.

  14. I realise there may not be answer to this question but would Duff and Fudd be able to pay out a win bonus in the unlikely event of a huns win?

I think the quiz show host will be regretting his “We don’t do walking away” line in a couple of weeks.

Another couple of defeats and I think that the only way he could retain his credibility and status amongst the support would be to hold his hands up and step down for the good of the club. Only, he can’t now after his “iconic line”! They won’t sack him either so he will be left to stew.

Unless he changes it to “We don’t do walking away unless it’s for the good of the club”.

Off field issues have undoubtedly made his job tougher. It would be silly to claim otherwise. But compared to what Lennon was subjected to off the park last season (and this season with the ongoing trial) it has been a breeze.

No amount of victories on the “What happened next?” round can prepare someone for professional football management. His players know that and the brighter Rangers fans know that.

I’m happy to see him squirm though now that he has closed his escape route!

  19. Okay….I’m no legal eagle, but wasn’t there some dodgy legislation passed in the Scottish Parliament recently, supposed to apply to ALL teams? In the light of that, should Rankers not be getting a visit from the police re. their numerous illegal chants today. Or is it true that they ARE actually totally above & beyond the law? I’m only askin’,like…

The Huns will be playing as if there very lives depended on it next week, driven on by elbows and Davis from the middle, it won’t be pretty and if we’re not up for a fight we could get caught out. Personally I’d be happy with no injuries and a draw so we could have a giant party at Celtic park.
