World class deficit of self-awareness

1194

The word of the day is anosognosia, def. a deficit of self-awareness.

While discussing his Fit and Proper examination by the SFA, Dave King told the media that “If the level of detail that was applied to me was applied to Craig Whyte then he would never have taken over the club.  The club would have had a chance.”

It was Dave King’s job to examine Craig Whyte’s Fit and Proper status, not the SFAs!!!  Dave King was on the board which approved Whyte’s takeover.  The SFA were not and should not have been involved in determining the suitability of Whyte’s appointment, which was the exclusive responsibility of the Rangers board.

The SFA subsequently sanctioned the club for failing to carry out its duty in this respect.

Let’s look at that quote again and allocate responsibility:

“If the level of detail that was applied to me was applied to Craig Whyte [by me, when it was my job to do so]then he would never have taken over the club.  The club would have had a chance.”

There is no Fit and Proper test.  Criteria are published to allow clubs to determine the suitability of appointments.  Whyte did not meet the suitability required.  If anyone on the Rangers board had taken the trouble to check Whyte’s credentials (which they had a fiduciary and SFA obligation to do so), and informed the SFA of their findings, Craig Whyte would have been stopped in his tracks.

A note to my friends in the media:

Guys, ignoring stuff like this is why people said you were compliant with Whyte, Green and Murray.  Don’t come back a year from now and say you didn’t know.

Dave King is a gift.  You know what he’s going to do, you know how this ends.

Walk for Tony

As most of you will know, RWE lost his son, Tony Conway, earlier this year to MND.  12 of Tony’s friends are walking 100km tomorrow and Sunday, from London to Brighton.  If any CQN’ers are local, they’re looking for moral support more than money, so here’s the route they’re taking.  They start on Twickenham Road at 9:40 tomorrow morning, hoping to reach Brighton around 7:00 on Sunday.

Tony appears to have inspired a lot of people, which is a none too shabby legacy.

It’s season ticket Deadline Day!!

    I suspect that John Guidetti will turn into another Pierre van Hooijdonk;

A new club and payday every other season.

Then popping up in the press every so often saying how much he loved his time at Celtic, no doubt mainly being defined as a former Celtic player when he hangs up his boots.

Good luck to our scouts and Ronny on bringing in a striker who wants to be here and is good enough to score the match winning goals v the likes of Legia Warsaw, Malmo etc in the CL qualifiers. That’s the focus now, not Guidetti.

  2. I have great memories of my first Eurovision Song Contest.

It was 1961 and a duo of brothers called The Allisons crooned “Are You Sure” to second place.

In actual fact, they weren’t real brothers. It was a marketing ploy.

Oh how I cried when they didn’t win. Second is first last, said my old granny, although she was younger then than I am now.

    Shit I’m old.

I remember that series. Last one I watched was in the year 1402 or thereabouts. (I’m getting on a bit) Anyhow it featured a chap called Tamerlane. Massacred entire populations and even built towers from the skulls of his victims.

I only refer to him because there was a link to Scotland. Yes, indeed, Scotland. Naturally work was hard to find given his history, but he came to Scotland and 3 weeks after arriving he passed the SFA fit and proper person test.

    He did very well here:-)

It’s a great song they’ve got, the land of make believe. A winner if ever I heard one. :-)

  12. My tip for the Eurovision tonight is

    Drum roll………

Spain at 66/1. The fact that they are represented by the rather attractive partner of Man U keeper David de Gea has not influenced my decision in any way whatsoever.

    1/4 the odds 1234.

So, the PGB voted on murray, but weren’t allowed to vote on the king decision …. UNADULTERATED CORRUPTION ………although PL WASN’t allowed to vote , being a non-exec director at the SFA, why didn’t he go public on this before the vote take place ? ……why did he leave it to the PGB members who were denied the vote to complain about the corrupt decision to exclude them ?…… and what happens now.?…ridiculous….

To all those who think we are paranoid……this is what we are up against…..

    twists and turns.

Tamerlane had a currywurst take away in San Francisco.Mighty fine it was too.

  16. Seems the SFA adopted a different approach to the King decision than the one taken re Murray. But what would the advantage to taking the matter to one committee rather than another? What is the difference in membership – and did they believe that the Professional Game Board might have asked some difficult questions?

  17. gordon_j backing neil lennon

It doesent matter how or why the did it, at the end of the day, it is all Peter Lawwells fault, of that we will be left in no doubt by some in here.

  18. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

I was listening to Radio 5 through the wee. The Finnish eurovision entry was a by a punk band, three of whom have learning difficulties.

One of the band members was interviewed. He spoke better English than some natural English speakers. They were performing in the Eurovision semis according to the report, let’s hope Steven McLean wasn’t one of the judges.

Big day tomorrow for us, let’s celebrate in style and hopefully, the stadium does the Broonie on the eigth minute of the game to show our appreciation of our Captain and the great season he has had.

I don’t see anyone singling out Peter Lawwell on Glib and Shameless being waved through. I’d be very interested in Rod Petrie’s approach on this especially given the timing of the decision being set up to boost Orc morale in the playoffs.

A bit more transparency from all SFA board members including Mr Lawwell on this, rather than selective briefings being issued to Daily Mail journalists, would be helpful.

Let the fans understand how and why the decision was arrived at, who if anyone spoke against it, and who was in favour of it and why.

I know of Aberdeen, Partick and Hibs fans who are as sick as we are of Scottish football bending to suit Sevco and are ready to chuck it.

It’d be good to know whether Ogilvie, Doncaster and Reagan are really at it for their own reasons or whether they are useful idiots doing what all clubs (or at least most of them) want in pursuit of the bigot pound.

  21. the glorious balance sheet
