World class deficit of self-awareness

1194

The word of the day is anosognosia, def. a deficit of self-awareness.

While discussing his Fit and Proper examination by the SFA, Dave King told the media that “If the level of detail that was applied to me was applied to Craig Whyte then he would never have taken over the club.  The club would have had a chance.”

It was Dave King’s job to examine Craig Whyte’s Fit and Proper status, not the SFAs!!!  Dave King was on the board which approved Whyte’s takeover.  The SFA were not and should not have been involved in determining the suitability of Whyte’s appointment, which was the exclusive responsibility of the Rangers board.

The SFA subsequently sanctioned the club for failing to carry out its duty in this respect.

Let’s look at that quote again and allocate responsibility:

“If the level of detail that was applied to me was applied to Craig Whyte [by me, when it was my job to do so]then he would never have taken over the club.  The club would have had a chance.”

There is no Fit and Proper test.  Criteria are published to allow clubs to determine the suitability of appointments.  Whyte did not meet the suitability required.  If anyone on the Rangers board had taken the trouble to check Whyte’s credentials (which they had a fiduciary and SFA obligation to do so), and informed the SFA of their findings, Craig Whyte would have been stopped in his tracks.

A note to my friends in the media:

Guys, ignoring stuff like this is why people said you were compliant with Whyte, Green and Murray.  Don’t come back a year from now and say you didn’t know.

Dave King is a gift.  You know what he’s going to do, you know how this ends.

Walk for Tony

As most of you will know, RWE lost his son, Tony Conway, earlier this year to MND.  12 of Tony’s friends are walking 100km tomorrow and Sunday, from London to Brighton.  If any CQN’ers are local, they’re looking for moral support more than money, so here’s the route they’re taking.  They start on Twickenham Road at 9:40 tomorrow morning, hoping to reach Brighton around 7:00 on Sunday.

Tony appears to have inspired a lot of people, which is a none too shabby legacy.

It’s season ticket Deadline Day!!

CAB won’t advise as there is always the remote possibility the shysters could take you to a small claims court (small being the important word).

They will send you a further “demand”, then offer you a reduction if you pay within 14 days……or they’ll (threaten) to double the penalty. From memory a further demand will be made.

    It’s a game of bluster.

  5. Would like to thank Paul and all our wonderful CQNers for all their contributions over this season.

Have been laughing crying sad humbled and subjected to every human emotion with regards to our posters but NEVER been of the opinion that we don’t make a difference to OUR club the champions.

I hope you all enjoy tomorrow’s celebration Toffeetims no1 and no 2 sons will be there as I have a prior pre arranged engagement at Goodison v Spurs resplendent in my new NB hoops which I have just picked up.

Def ignore that notice. Not that you were to know but you shouldn’t have even contacted them. They go away quicker when you do absolutely nothing. They will however go away anyway.

They won’t even do that, all they would be awarded at Court is their loss, not the price of the parking charge, their actual loss caused by someone parking there, they will drop it after a few threats

  9. Enjoying the sunshine on Leith. Last time I was at rangers v Hibs sprowle scored a hat trick in a 3 nil win at ibrox. More of same please !!!!!

  10. JameGang, remember to try on the gown, make sure it fits before you take it home.

I noticed when going into Celtic park yesterday a notice at the very top of London Road

    Roadworks Start here on 23/05,

So expect delays if coming of M74 to head down the London Road to stadium

Who plans these things, or is it just hurting thingmy’s :-)

  12. Just back from a wonderful ceremony to unveil a monument to Celtic player Peter Johnstone. Peter played over 200 games for the celts and lost his life in WW1. His body was never found. The ceremony was well attended with representatives from Celtic including John Clark, members of Peters regiment, local CSC’s, Povost Jim Lieshman who gave a good speech, author Ian? Hamilton who gave the background to Peters life, decedents of Peters family and many locals from the Benarty villages. Special thanks must go to the members of the committee that brought this to fruition.

I know many CSC’s visit Johnny Thomsons grave when playing in fife, this monument and garden is only 3 miles or so from Cardenden where Johnny lies and is well worth a visit to pay respects

  13. Doc, I’m just heading out

But whife you was showing me pictures of you annoying some very Real Living Legends yesterday :-)

  21. Cowieboy, Delaneys Dunky

Cheers, its certainly worth seeing. When I first heard of the proposal I thought it would be a small plaque in the corner of a field, however they have cordoned of a small corner of the field, which was where Glencraig colliery stood which Peter worked in. There are seats, lovely plants, beautiful monument on a brick plinth with individual bricks purchased with dedications on them and a couple of story boards about peters life in Glencraig and with Celtic

  22. A very sad day for me here in Aberdeen. The company I have worked for for almost 18 years is closing down, another victim of the biggest slump in the oilfield that I have seen in my 33 years in this game. Some of the contractors who worked for us had already left, and yesterday saw around 75 staff going. The owners, a private equity mob from the US want to cut and run rather than support us until next year when things are expected to pick up. This after we presented them with 50% higher profits than we had ever achieved before! No one understands why we are going, except the guy in Florida.

We had a grand day yesterday – Prosecco in the canteen in the morning, over the road to Union Terrace Gardens for a group photo, then out on the ran-dan afternoon and evening. There will no doubt be a few sair heids this morning!! It was all very surreal and emotional, and I will admit that I had a lump in my throat on a few occasions during the day.

There will be around 15 of us staying on to close down the company, that will keep me going until the end of July, after that, who knows?

Think I am sober enough to drive now, so will head home to the better half and Murphy and Starsky. No doubt there will be a jobs list for me, in part payment for the over-night pass which I got!

    Later dudes!

  26. i have lived in australia for over 45 years and remember having to phone home on a sunday morning and find out how the celtic had went.my mum never had a phone so it was the next door neighbours hoose. She would get my mum.she would come in with the sunday paper and read out the results. I would then pass it out to all my celtic pals here in Melbourne.Amazing how technology has changed our lives. Now u can’t get people to leave their houses cos the games r on setanta. They give u all sort of excuses. At the end of the day, we the devout Celtic people will gravitate to each other ,regardless where we live in this world. We enjoy each others company,we know if that person we r talking to is a bona fida Tim.I hope that tomorrow every Celtic fan in the stadium has a fantastic day, I would dearly love to be there.God Bless U All.I,m meeting with Melbourne Mick for a wee guinness or 2 to celebrate we are the champs once again.Hail Hail my Celtic family
