You did this in 2012

1024

Every year we ask you to put your hand in your pocket for various causes and every year you react, but never more so than 2012.  You responded magnificently to the Wee Oscar Appeal, which from Celtic fans in total raised £31k in a bucket collection in September and £27k at a race night last month.

It is breath-taking to see the work done by those who, without thought for their personal sacrifices, decided this young boy would get the best chance possible.  The photographs of Oscar are an inspiration, but the work done by those who staged the race night and bucket collection – and brought a new CQN badge to life – is even more inspiring.

The events surrounding the charity golf day raised four-figure sums for Oscar, the Neuroblastoma Alliance, the Martin Chambers Ecuador Trust and The Haven in Blantyre, which supports people with life limiting illness.  There were smaller donations too, each one a credit to the organisers and to those of you who contributed.

The overwhelming majority of this work, and pretty much all donations, are made by people who don’t want any thanks and would be horrified by publicity.  In most instances the beneficiaries will never know their names.  I’m in the really fortunate position that I get to see a lot of this happen and I can assure you it is awe inspiring.  You are in the company of many great Celts.

This club is not Neil Lennon’s or Dermot Desmond’s, it’s yours.  Celtic will win and lose many games but that will change nothing that is really important.  You are the person who will make it a unique force for good in the world.  That is our challenge for 2013.

Thank you for all your help, take care and have an absolutely fantastic Christmas.

  1. Just watched the last 3 episodes of breaking bad season 4.

Kept them for my christmas night viewing and it was worth the wait.

    Thank you my friend.

When my old uncle John was in his last days and knew it, he loved nothing more than making it to the pub to watch “THE celtic” never just celtic I phoned to take him up to the Derby inn to watch the st mirren game (gary Hooper late goal in 1 nil win) and he told me he wasn’t up to it.

when I phoned him at the final whistle to tell him the score he said and i quote “magic son but im done, when I cant make it a couple of hundred yards to see THE celtic its time to go” He passed away shortly afterwards.

My da showed me many things but my uncles Neily & John installed in me a love for our club that can only be explained to another tim.

He could not understand why I didn’t go to some home games when physically able, now though I cant afford it all the time and got some heath issues I get to paradise as often as I can,

In a traditional English country pub with the family around. Son plugged into PSP, daughter plugged into a DVD, and wife plugged into something racy on a Kobo.

Me, I’ve a pint of hand pumped Doom something and just unwrapped my CQN annual at last.

To all those that have suffered loss, stay strong when you can.

I just caught the above before I went out for dinner and you got me OK. I am intrigued as I tend to remember hat tricks and am grateful for you telling the world I was a goal scorer.

I have a game in mind at Loretto where Willie McGlaughlin was manager and I had formed an effective partnership with a lad called Steve who knew just where to put the ball to meet my runs.

Is this the game you mean or was it from an earlier point in my crash and burn footballing career? :)

I find the crazy moonhowling talk over the last few weeks excellent. Then there were serious moonhowlers who commented about the Mayan end of the World prophecies.

The end isnae until 1000 years after the Big Guy re-appears anyway. I had the family guessing as “Who Am I” with just yes or no answers. When they got the answer, my most excellent Sister said awww that is really topical on this day.

Who am I to deny Corinne, who was lucky to even be alive before I was even born!!!! after all the operations she went through as a little kid. I have explained it all before to her about Yeshua’s birth but as KK says, everyone knows. Corinne plays along with the Ultimate Goodness in her heart. Let us all judge less, especially on this excellent site. Paul67 is the most Fantastic role model in this regard as he always has a response, when he is available, to those people who others get annoyed with.

    Amazing track.

This Celtic team, built on a shoestring and strengthened by the years of MIBBERY managed to get the total sum of 1 booking (I think) against Barcelona home and away. ;)
