You did this in 2012

1024

Every year we ask you to put your hand in your pocket for various causes and every year you react, but never more so than 2012.  You responded magnificently to the Wee Oscar Appeal, which from Celtic fans in total raised £31k in a bucket collection in September and £27k at a race night last month.

It is breath-taking to see the work done by those who, without thought for their personal sacrifices, decided this young boy would get the best chance possible.  The photographs of Oscar are an inspiration, but the work done by those who staged the race night and bucket collection – and brought a new CQN badge to life – is even more inspiring.

The events surrounding the charity golf day raised four-figure sums for Oscar, the Neuroblastoma Alliance, the Martin Chambers Ecuador Trust and The Haven in Blantyre, which supports people with life limiting illness.  There were smaller donations too, each one a credit to the organisers and to those of you who contributed.

The overwhelming majority of this work, and pretty much all donations, are made by people who don’t want any thanks and would be horrified by publicity.  In most instances the beneficiaries will never know their names.  I’m in the really fortunate position that I get to see a lot of this happen and I can assure you it is awe inspiring.  You are in the company of many great Celts.

This club is not Neil Lennon’s or Dermot Desmond’s, it’s yours.  Celtic will win and lose many games but that will change nothing that is really important.  You are the person who will make it a unique force for good in the world.  That is our challenge for 2013.

Thank you for all your help, take care and have an absolutely fantastic Christmas.

  1. Catching up on here.

    Had a great day.

Remote control cars rock. Took on all-comers and won.

Then I was jumped by a kangaroo court. They called it a stewards’ inquiry.

After about 2 minutes of investigation, during which they told me to “just to shutup”, they concluded I had “cheated”. On 2 counts. I was sent to the dog house.

    So here I am, howling.

    Oooooh, oooh oooh ooh,

I wish I was back home in Glasgow.

I came off mylo carb diet yesterday, for one day only. My Sister is a fantastic cook and it would not have been nice for me to not enjoy all of that tremendous food on offer. I think she only made Trifle because she knew most Love it and knew I didn’t. She is very kind in so many ways.

Family is really important, they help you when you think you can never be helped. The Big Guy in the Sky, IMO, is much more important. If you started to belief in him, he leaves the Clues everywhere, especially for those that never really believed before, I think

I cannae wait to get out there and kick that ball in anger again. I must remember I am 40 now so I don’t think I will be able to take on the whole team by myself. ;)) A long time since a game of footie, I will hopefully be playing by mid February.

    Everyone has gone.

I’m trying to get my main man Vinny to come with us on to the Juventus game.

He doesn’t know, and I don’t know how to show him.

Well, i suppose it’s for everyone else.

Aidan’s total disbelievement of Tambourine Man on first listening was awesome to be a part of. “I was there”. He said his voice could shatter glass. ;)))

It was even more Amazing when he actually didn’t comment the 2nd time he listened to it.

The Third Time, his Mum was in the car, and his Mum is a major league Beatles fan, well it all sort of was a done deal by then but she basically said that by the time you are 21 you will have Dylan on your wall.

And I’m thinking McGeough, because he will have hammered home the winning goal after going to Rangers and coming HOME.

46, Aiden Loves Celtic more than anyone I know, who would move to Russia to make sure Celtic Progress.

In that case,I’ll reprogramme the i-pod I’m bringing up.

It currently only has about six Bob albums on it.

If you reckon Aidan will appreciate them,I’ll put the rest on it.

BTW,I was about the same age when I first heard him.

Now, am away tae clean up the mess.

    Ouch.

  11. Back to the football. No Commons or Ledley today, while Lassad is a doubt with flu. Lustig returns from injury.

After Hooper’s superb display v Ross County, somebody (apologies, can’t remember who) asked whether folk thought it was his best game in the hoops. Whoever it was, I agree with them. Only last year’s games v Falkirk and Hearts (5-0) come close. He sure knows how to carve open stuffy defences, and that’s no back-handed compliment, given how overcooked Celtic have looked against teams who play 10 at the back. Some have been calling for a creative midfielder, a no.10. That’s just what Gary was for most of the game, and he’s the best no.10 I’ve seen, even better than Commons. His link-up play was supreme, and the fact that he has such a natural instinct for goal makes him extra difficult for defenders to deal with.

I’d have Gary play that role again today, were it not for the fact that Lassad is a doubt. Up front with Watt in the 1st half of the St Johnstone cup game, he was sensational. We played 4-3-1-2 that day, so I’d put him there, with Paddy as no.10, a position he has been given scandalously little opportunity to play. Lest Celtic go astray, we would still have a very strong spine to the team, with Brown anchoring the middle.

Ambrose was excellent at RB on Saturday, while on the limited number of games to go on, Wilson and Mulgrew make up the best CB pairing in 4-3-1-2, so I see no reason to bring back Lustig.

    Up_over:

Like the team and your reasoning.

Would only disagree about Efe at right back. Whilst he gave a competent performance there its clearly not his position. Almost all the crosses into the box came from the other side of the pitch in the County game. Matthews for me, pace, penetration and crosses on both sides of the pitch…

  13. UOG

    Merry Christmas mate

Nae chance that both McGeouch and Paddy will play today

IMO Lenny will play Lustig and move Mulgrew into midfield

Also I think it would be very hard on Kayal if he is dropped and I think he’ll play Sammi

    Therefore I see it as

    FF

    Lustig,Efe,Wilson,Izzy

    Brown,Kayal,Mulgrew,Vic

    Sammi & Hooper

Given we’re going into a couple of weeks break I think we’ll see a full team out in the next three games

    Happy Christmas to all…..

Awe Naw, noticed yer post re. the new born, congratulations…

Is your ‘wee cousin’ Des per chance??

  15. West Wales Celt

Agree, but it worked. Efe didn’t get forward much, and most of the attacking came down the left, but it worked. Matthews is born to pay RWB when we go 3 at the back, but he’s out injured just now.

    PFayr

    Merry Christmas to you too.

Kayal was back to his bad habits on Saturday, testing everyone’s patience with his hapless attempts from outside the box. He is allowed far too much room for error. That midfield of yours is way too cautious. Did someone get you ‘Craig Levein’s Guide to Ca’ Canny’ for Christmas?

No Paddy? Isn’t Christmas the time for miracles?

    Have a good ‘un.

  16. UOG

There are goals in Vic and Brown , great delivery in Mulgrew and I feel that there is a great deal of energy in Kayal

Add the forward runs of both FBs and I think it is a fairly positive selection

Besides which ..Levein disnae play any forwards ..I’ve picked two
