You did this in 2013

1233

Yet again during 2013 we asked you to put your hand in your pocket and you responded as only Celtic fans do.  You raised £6000 before and during the focus of our summer fundraising activity, the annual golf day.  £4500 of this went towards the 1254125 Appeal, which during the year did an enormous amount to anchor the club and support right back to where we came from.  Clic Sargent, who help children with cancer, also benefited at that time.

Thanks also to those who sponsored my 10k at the Great Scottish Run in October to the tune of £1552.  Times remain tight for many, so I the value of your support.

Perhaps the biggest response all year came from the commitment we made to Mary’s Meals to build and kit a kitchen at the Kholoni Primary School in Malawi.  1200 kids are registered at the school but there are no catering facilities, so students go hungry, or simply don’t go to school at all.  Pablophanque’s family sent on the £4500 support they received in 2011 to the appeal, while 470 people booked a seat at the CQteN St Patrick’s Day dinner, with more on the waiting list.  The work we’ll achieve in 2014 will be incredible.

This place can stress and annoy sometimes but it has become a great window into the soul of the Celtic support.

Have a great Christmas and thank you for all your support.

I hope it’s a watershed moment for Celtic, and the remnants of a main stream media

sadly there are still dafties in the support that take their daily rations.

Too many ready to wade in without the facts, against the club they say they support.

Yes, we have difficulties, the legal banners issue was not of Celtic’s making, the

media turn it into illegal banners, which was a neat trick.

  8. A wee good neighbour story on Christmas Eve. My front door lock broke a couple of months ago. My neighbour did a temporary fix to allow us to use it. He fits Conservatories, Windows and Doors for a living. Said he would pick me up a lock from a door which is the same as mine. Forgotten all about it until 20 minutes ago when he knocked on my door.

Lennybhoy, aye John, that lock, here to fit it. 5 minutes later job done. How much do I owe you John, Happy Christmas Lennybhoy.

My next door neighbour is John, all I gave him this year was a card to him and the family, he has made sure my family home is secure.

Probably something you are not interested in but made my Christmas better.

    Keep the Faith!

  11. Things are getting so bad ,as far as supporters are concenered ,that the club is putting on buses ,free of charge, for the partick thistle game on new years day,its getting worse day by day at celtic, its desparates stages now, time for some high head uns to move on,

  12. From today’s club statement……

…..Last week, Celtic Football Club noted the advice given by local police regarding safety, flags and banners at the match…….

Why, last week, did the club not pass this information onto OUR fans?

  13. BSR

    I agree re the msm.

Problem is, they are still the ones with the megaphone.

We can stamp our feet all we want on the blogs, till they run with something, all we are doing is getting het up about things.

Use them, like the huns do, they will do what they are told if they get paid, we see it every day, the hun pay and get good press, we don’t and get bad press.

Now the media will always be on their side, accepted, but choose one rag, let them start a war, and see what transpires.

  14. At last common sense has prevailed and banners and flags will be allowed into the St Johnstone match on Boxing Day in Perth.

This was a situation that should never have happened in the first place, but it took a lot of phone calls and talking before it was resolved.

I contacted Celtic’s Head of Operations Ronnie Hawthorn yesterday morning; Ronnie agreed there was no need for such a ban, and that it was counter-productive.

I also spoke to St Johnstone and tried to explain the situation to them, they were not exactly falling over themselves trying to solve the problem.

I spoke a couple of times last night to ACC Bernie Higgins who is charge of all major events in Scotland. He said he would consult with Match Commander Kevin Lynch, and ask him to liaise with St Johnstone.

I also spoke to Peter Lawwell who was on his way back from a business trip to Europe, he assured me that the decision to ban flags and banners had nothing to do with Celtic; it is a decision for the home club.

I then met with Peter Lawwell this morning to discuss the situation, he told me and CSA President John Andrews that there was a meeting with St Johnstone and the Police at 10am, and a statement was expected at 11am.

As you’ll know by now the decision was overturned and flags and banners will now be allowed into the stadium.

There is no point in apportioning blame now that the right decision has been reached. I would now expect the Celtic supporters to travel to Perth in good numbers and in good spirits.

Let us show everyone watching that we know how to support our team. Leave the smoke flares and pyrotechnic at home, or better still in the bin.

We have never been in better shape than we are now. There are some other issues that need to be discussed; hopefully we can do that early in the New Year.

So let me take this opportunity to wish all Celtic Fans and their families, a very happy Christmas, and a Champion New Year.

Ah it was in a reply to ItaliaBhoy. I was looking for a question I put to you. I see where you are coming from now.

There was only one 5 way agreement that all parties signed up to, but the context of that discussion, was should Celtic have attended the meetings that led to the OBB.

In that context the 5 way was mentioned by Italiabhoy and I was trying to establish if he was referring to the one that actually happened (SFL) or one that he thought Celtic were involved in that saw Newco in the SPL (SPL).

I asked that question in the form ” By the 5 way agreement do you mean the one that saw Rangers into the SFL or the one that saw them in the SPL?” which may have caused the confusion.

The answers I supplied today are consistent with the point I made then which is Celtic resisted the SPL “solution” (probably a better term) but were in no position to dispute the SFL “solution.

Looking back at the posts I still think Celtic had no option but to attend the meetings or be crucified for not doing so.

It think it also made no sense to pass up the opportunity to state their opposition to the Bill and that the reason for not turning up, that we had a support that was free of blemish (because that is how it would have been portrayed) , would have made us even greater hostages to fortune whenever our feet of clay are exposed as has happened recently.

It was a judgement call on which Italiabhoy and I differ.

However on his point about Celtic not demanding a clean out of the SFA we are on the same song sheet, but I never answered that having been dragged off shopping probably.

I agree, MSM’s club died, they’ve nothing to write about.

Generations of Celtic fans and our club will pay, and when

Sevco enter the SPL as they surely will, they’ll still have

    control of the media.

It’s the establishment way, in a deeply anti Celtic country

which became more so the moment Rangers went under.

  22. Less than 30 minutes to christmas here so best wishes all. As usual I’ve rolled forward a day to post.

On the upheaval of “flags” I appreciate peoples rights, and realise their use in warfare but that’s my lot! I naively hoped on joining Europe it would do away with most of the nationalist crap and we could all be just Europeans, quite the opposite!! There are now more countries and growing.

If a flag was being waved in front of me at a match I am sure I would go for banning them with immediate effect!!!

What I have noticed with all the talk of boycots and denying other clubs Celtic supporters money is that before this the talk was about getting other clubs onboard to support us (as Aberdeen did at the SFA) in a campaign against corruption as was done with Rangers staying in the SPL. Not very consistent!! and probably some of the same bloggers??

Being cynical by aging and absorbing the CQN conspiracy theories I usually think what will the “others” gain by this? Well if we turn the rest of the clubs (even more) against us ( although Celtic redistributed moneys around), by decreasing their takings who would they look to that have enough supporters to take our place?

Instead of changing to suit every new upset would it not be better for us to regard the “long View” as being more beneficial.

Posted this earlier this morning and I haven’t changed my mind.

“As an exiled Scot and Celtic supporter for more than 50 years, I never thought I would say this, but I would encourage our fans to stay away from this game.

It is a massive trap being laid by PS: flags or no flags.

Celtic fans are being taken to the cleaners.

There is only one reason for this, and that is to “even the score” because of the on-going train crash down Govan way.

No other club’s supporters are being mistreated like ours.

Unfortunately and inexplicably and for whatever reason, our club has chosen this period in our proud history to abandon its supporters.

No matter what botched-up compromise might be agreed today, just don’t go.

Support the Celts with friends and family at home or in the pub.

Stay safe, hit them in the pocket, and expose PS for what they are.”
