  1. Grim stuff yesterday.

Really starting to doubt whether Ronny has the smarts to take us forward. We are playing at a tempo which is ludicrously slow, and giving weak opponents far too much respect.

One up, at home, against Killie? Come on!

Only bright spots are Simunovic, who looks like a proper defender, and Scott Allan, who looks like he has the attacking instinct our midfield lacks.

Oh, and well done James Forrest. Great game.

  2. Morning all, cold and damp in darkest Lanarkshire, bit like the mood on here?

As is my want , I will head out today firstly to mass, then the gym to try out the old hips on the treadmill fir the first time in 10 days…could be a short one.

Can we all try to do better today than we did yesterday? I don’t mean with the bookies, my next trip there will probably be Cheltenham time and maybe not even then, fools and their money indeed.

Morning Bhoys football is meant to be an entertainment however, for many on CQN watching Celtic only seems to make them miserable now if something makes me miserable I stop doing it. I think many on this forum should quit watching the hoops and go and do something else you only get one life why waste it doing something you dont enjoy?

  4. Going to mass this morning for a change as the wee barra has a later kick off.

Not posted anything to any CQN’rs who have not had their troubles to seek because I only know one or two posters. But rest assured you have been in my thoughts and will be in my prayers this morning.

Have a good day. Tiocfaidh ár lá

  5. LARSSONSE7EN – I fell several weeks ago. Think there might only be 5 remaining now but CRC will validate and nnounce later I’m sure.

JOE FILIPPIS HAIRCUT – Agreed in principle ;-)

I hope you don’t mind me posting some human rights stuff again. Its ok with Paul67 so just scroll on by if you think otherwise.

Teodora del Carmen Vásquez was sentenced to 30 years in prison for “aggravated homicide” in 2008 after she suffered a stillbirth while at work. In El Salvador, women who miscarry or suffer a still-birth during pregnancy are routinely suspected of having had an “abortion”. Abortion under any circumstance is a crime, even in cases of rape, incest, or where a woman’s life is at risk.

Teodora is being doubly punished for being poor, firstly for having to work late in her pregnancy due to necessity and secondly for being unable to afford an effective legal team to represent her. Her only option now is to appeal for her sentence, which is why her case has been taken up by Amnesty International as part of their Greeting Card Campaign.

MANY SNOWFLAKES MAKE AN AVALANCHE: AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL GREETING CARD CAMPAIGN

In November 1993 General Jose Francisco Gallardo Rodriguez (Pictured being greeted on his release from prison by his granddaughter, who was born during his detention. This is their first ever embrace. http://www.ecn.org/reds/mondo/americalatina/chiapas/grafica/General_Gallardo.jpg ) was sentenced to 28 years imprisonment after publishing an article criticising human rights abuses in the Mexican armed forces.

His detention was in direct violation of Article 19 of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, which proclaims that everyone has the right to freedom of expression. After continuous campaigning on his behalf by human rights organisations such as Amnesty International, over 35,000 letters and cards were sent to him during his detention, he was released in February 2002.

Every Christmas Amnesty International asks its members to send cards to prisoners of conscience like General Gallardo, people who will spend the festive season in prison because they have acted, without use of violence, for their beliefs.

These cards have a multi-purpose, while being a great source of hope and encouragement to the prisoners themselves; they also bring their cases to the attention of the authorities, who will note their international mail.

The cumulative effect of these cards can dramatically improve prison conditions and even precipitate an early release from prison. A simple message of goodwill is enough – please do not discuss politics or mention Amnesty International in your card.

Please put your name and address on any cards sent – you might get a reply from the prisoner some day thanking you for your efforts – a letter from General Gallardo did arrive on Barra after his release!

The price of an international stamp and five minutes of your time can make a huge difference to these prisoners’ lives: “We are all very happy that our father has been released and we are profoundly grateful to Amnesty International. Without your support our father’s release would not be possible.” – Statement from the Gallardo family.

These appeals are simple to do and can be very effective if enough people send them, it’s not difficult or time-consuming, but it is the human right thing to do. The Amnesty International Greeting Card Campaign runs until the end of January 2016, so there is plenty of time to make good use of any spare Christmas cards.

May I just add that do not, and probably never, want to buy a LG television from John Lewis, no matter how many times their advert invades my iPad.

Put me off attempting to access this blog? now that is a possibility!

  9. Joe fillipi. I have stopped giving Celtic any money as I believe that is the only language the board understands. It saddens me that I don’t go to the games now. I miss it and I miss the time with my friends.

As much as you would like the malcontents just to go away we are in our way trying o wrestle back the soul of Celtic from those who have effectively stolen it from us.

We think it’s worth fighting for.

    Don’t you?

Frustrating game yesterday but if Griff had been his usual , accurate self, we would have won comfortably. Also, their `keeper had a couple of good save, a stroke of luck and we hit the bar so perhaps not quite as flat as it seemed at the time. Anyway, on to Thursday now with Lustig showing signs of previous good form, Boyata playing more safely, Simunovic looking decent, Brown excellent and Forrest showing what he can do ( for a while at least!). As a result, I think we can have a wee bit more confidence against Ajax. I didn`t enjoy yesterday but I am looking forward to Thursday already!

Well Safari has now automatically added the John Lewis LG telly advert as a “most frequent” site on my iPad. It’s impossible to avoid opening the bloody thing every time I access the site.

It shouldn`t sadden you if you believe it to be the correct choice but I know what you mean. My way of dealing with any sense that Celtic has lost its way is to subscribe, mentally, to the image of Celtic as the Club I have always supported . This works for me and I really enjoy going to Celtic Park and seeing `My` Celtic in action.

NEGANON2. Fella I have been reading your posts for a while and would have thought that once in a while you would post something good about Celtic but I have never seen such a post ( maybe I missed it ).You constantly tell us things are not right at Parkhead but in all the time you have been posting your negative posts I cant think of one thing you have managed to change. All your posts appear to me to be negative so once in a while could you not post something good about Celtic ? well I am off to mass now I will catch up later. H.H.

Why am I not seeing any of these ads which are , understandably, causing so much annoyance?

  16. Dissapointing result yesterday but not a terrible preformance over-all. Griff had an off-day in front of goal. Most of our play was of a good standard up until the final third . James Forrest looked like he could be the one to get the win but he was moved over to the left where he wasnt so effective .That mistake should have been spotted and rectified.

  17. the glorious balance sheet on

I doff my hat to anyone who is confident about Celtic’s prospects on Thursday night – eternal optimism must be their strong suit.

Four of the last five full time teams to visit Celtic Park in European competition have scored at least 2 goals.

Salzburg – who finished the season as champions of Austria.

Inter Milan – who finished the season 8th in Serie A, 32 points behind champions Juventus.

Malmo – who finished their season in 5th place in the Swedish league, 12 points behind champions Norkopping.

molde – who finished their season in 6th place in the Norwegian league, 17 points behind champions Rosenborg.

The only full time team not to score in European competition at Celtic Park in the last 12 months was Qarabag, champions of Azerbaijan, a team so defensively minded they made Walturd seem like an exponent of free-flowing attacking football. That mob played as though they were going to get fined half their wages any time they crossed the halfway line at Celtic Park.

There is nothing in that run to suggest that we are likely to beat Ajax. Stranger things have happened in football but in my view an away win is the most likely outcome.

One thing you can take to the bank is that Molde will pick up no more points in this group. Their job is done, their league finished 3 weeks ago, they’re not match fit and Fenerbahce and Ajax have more to play for than they do in their remaining fixtures.

That’s been tried too. The adverts still kept coming!

  21. NegAnon. WE got the message a long long time ago, you are unhappy with all things at Celtic, you have decided to starve the Club of your cash and you would like everyone else to do the same. You say it almost every day a multiple of times in a multiple of different ways. The only time we get a break is when Celtic have a particularly good win, you are usually marked absent for a day or two then.

You slag Tony D for his daily efforts, Tony often annoys me as well but I know who I’d prefer to be sitting next to, in a pub or at a game.

It has long been past being tiresome, do you really think you are achieving anything by your constant repetitive posts.

  23. twentyfirstofmay1979 on

Without Commons we lacked the creativity to break down an eleven man defence (12 if you include the ref). Think young Tierney should start on Thursday, he wont let us down and it will be good experience for him. Time for Armstrong and GMS to get the finger out, neither of them pulling their weight just now

Outstanding post, and so early too, but I’m going out on a limb here, and will say without fear it will go down as the most negative post of the week, congratulations, the amount of work you put into research and history has to be second to none, and I will through a challenge right now to anyone who has the balls to beat this mans negativity, take a bow sir.

    BMCUW-

Yes that’s true enough, we’re really short in central midfield with Johansen and Bitton suspended and Broony not fully match fit.

Might be worth sticking Efe in there.

Just think of the poor sod at John Lewis who marketed the LG telly offer – probably head scratching at all those paid “hits” and no buyers. John Lewis profits will be taking a big tumble over this – you mark my words.

    Tony Donnelly67 1054am-

My post isn’t negative, it’s a measured reflection on the possibilities based on celtic’s recent European form. It’s called realism so no need for you to get animated- keep your Kool Aid for yourself.

However, I will make allowances for you. Obviously “big Peter” and “his Lordship” spurned your amorous advances in the boardroom yesterday, resulting in your touchy mood this morning.

I guess you’ll just have to crank up the slavish devotion several more notches on CQN before you reach the lofty heights of boardroom gimp.

From the BBC website ( (Dick Wilson):

” Brown also seemed to injure himself in a challenge and finished the game being unable to run.”

Why would our Captain injure himself? Why would he have `seemed` to do so? Was he guilty of simulation against himself?
