Keep an eye on Pittodrie

St Johnstone have gone five games without a goal – and that includes a home game against Hamilton. They remain in the League Cup, but if they beat Hibs next week, will remarkably have reached the final after only facing lower league opposition. Their only Scottish Cup game against top-flight opponents ended in defeat.

What they can do is defend better than Hamilton, or several others in the league. They kept Celtic to three last month (which these days is an achievement), before keeping a clean sheet against Hearts. Only Celtic, Aberdeen, Hearts and Partick have conceded fewer.

Tomorrow’s game is one Celtic will be confident of winning, but chances will not be as easy coming as they were on Tuesday night.

I get it.  The SFA have guidance which suggests New Douglas Park, one of the smallest grounds in Lanarkshire, should be the venue for our Scottish Cup game against East Kilbride. With 6,000 seats it is less than half the size of Fir Park, which is less than 3 miles away.  Moving the game to Fir Park would generate a significant amount of much needed money for grassroots football in Scotland.

Think about that……. generate money for grassroots football in Scotland.  Do the decent this and move this game to Motherwell.  If you want to register for a ticket, do so here.

The more who register, the more reason the SFA have to agree to Fir Park as the venue.

Keep an eye on the game at Pittodrie tonight. I watched 10-man Aberdeen come from behind away to Ross County last week, they were very impressive, but our nearest challengers have developed a blind spot against Dundee.

Three points and a clean sheet tomorrow, please, Celtic.

Seen your reference to charitable works the same as you do.

In here five years and would not say the blog has improved in the last two years.

I would be an idiot to compare it with previous years as I was not here.

Have seen some of the work done then and it looks special.

jeez it was great to stick 8 past Hamilton – me and little jmac have been to quite a few games against Hamilton as they’re cheap GS tickets – really like getting them.

It was my way of highlighting one of the many great things that make CQN special while also thanking Paul67 for what he continues to do for those less fortunate mate.

I’m sure oor wee pal would agree :-)

  4. 3 great results on the trot, albeit against perceived lesser opposition, can we make it 4 against St Johnstone? Am sure we can if we field the same starting 11 again ( barring injuries ). We’ll need to be patient breaking down a stubborn defence but we will….4-0 the Hoops ;-))

Good luck to the Fat Bhoy/Ghal Slimmers

  6. Some great posts today folks keep them coming.

Also thanks to everyone last night who posted positive comments about my thoughts about EK gate receipts. I even managed to get Neganon to sort of be positive about it and with Paul 67 saying he thought it was a great idea, I will say no more and hopefully the board will think about it.

Me personally ? I don’t think the blog has declined at all, each to there own mind you, IMO, this declined carry on is along the lines of people don’t get there own way, and as I’v said before only come here to use the blog to suit there agenda. – See more at: http://www.celticquicknews.co.uk/keep-an-eye-on-pittidrie/comment-page-3/#comments

Keep them weather reports coming, EK is usually worse than the milk, it keeps me ahead whether I go out and turn the car over to clear the ice.

I have to keep an eye out for Ruggy boys nicking my car though. :))

  14. For newcomers wondering why many of the clique who have posted for years have given up, I offer one wee reason. Paul67 used to (very) occasionally have to intervene with the reminder that children read the blog. This was usually when someone had used a sweary word. Now, imo, way too many are acting like spoiled children. In the early days, there were plenty of arguments/ discussions but generally with respect for the other. Much of it was informative, such as the famous article(s) on amortisation.

Imo, it was a must read for those not living in Scotland- at the time I was in Salford. Not only was it news about Celtic, it was news with a Celtic bias, something you wouldn’t get, even if you had the SMSM available. I yearn for the atmosphere of CQN as it was. It was a daily delight. i honestly can’t say that anymore.

  16. Posting on CQN is very much like watching Celtic, we have green tinted glasses about the past

    E.g

CQN was always better in the old days and we could give and take a hard comment and still blog on with RSI

CQN was all about the blogging back then and we commented in the streets under gaslight on Etims with a borrowed iphone hoping to blog for real on CQN with our heroes Estadio and Winning Gemmell……

We were bad bhoys in the past too, just not as often.

I think all will be well if some pride is swallowed, spat out and replaced by some Guinness in Dublin at Easter.

God bless Clogher and Almore for setting that up in my adoptive city which never disappoints

    A contemplative retreat I believe ;-)

  22. The EK tie has got me reminiscing about the 3 years I worked there (90-93)

A brilliant job, great time in my life socially, romantically, professionally and musically, sportingly(5s in Hamilton)

A bad time for Celtic but I actually loved going to the games during the ‘thin’ and feeling like a supporter not a fan.

Thanks for posting the link to the SFA statement re EK versus the Bhoys.

I notice though that East Kilbride listed the K Park as their first choice and Hamilton as their last, the choice of the SFA. However the statement goes on …..”in Rule 11 if a club notifies the Association that it is unable to play a Cup match at its’ registered ground for whatever reason…..” allowing the SFA to nominate Douglas Park as the venue. Question, did EK notify the SFA of such, (unlikely since they just played a Cup tie there) or did PoliceScotland and the SFA make it for them?

I’d like to say I can see clearly now, but this the SFA we are talking about.

TBB, !!bada bing!!, anyone, clarify that particular point?

  26. Good to see the Civil war has taken a break. Just listening to Alan Parsons Project Eye in the Sky it reminded me of the wind up merchants, & flouncers, very apt%

. Anyone considering renewing breakdown insurance, I have went to Rac website, homestart etc. £103 any driver of vehicle, plus £30 Amazon voucher. Picked up Amazon Fire for z£23 hopefully I can download Kodi to ot.

  27. Put money into grassroots fitba! Are you daft? That would mean EK might have more cash than the mighty Sevco fc.

I would go with same starting line up as tuesday and change Rogic at half time for Allan.

Tell Rogic he only has 45mins and he’s to run his a@@@ off.
