Keep an eye on Pittodrie

St Johnstone have gone five games without a goal – and that includes a home game against Hamilton. They remain in the League Cup, but if they beat Hibs next week, will remarkably have reached the final after only facing lower league opposition. Their only Scottish Cup game against top-flight opponents ended in defeat.

What they can do is defend better than Hamilton, or several others in the league. They kept Celtic to three last month (which these days is an achievement), before keeping a clean sheet against Hearts. Only Celtic, Aberdeen, Hearts and Partick have conceded fewer.

Tomorrow’s game is one Celtic will be confident of winning, but chances will not be as easy coming as they were on Tuesday night.

I get it.  The SFA have guidance which suggests New Douglas Park, one of the smallest grounds in Lanarkshire, should be the venue for our Scottish Cup game against East Kilbride. With 6,000 seats it is less than half the size of Fir Park, which is less than 3 miles away.  Moving the game to Fir Park would generate a significant amount of much needed money for grassroots football in Scotland.

Think about that……. generate money for grassroots football in Scotland.  Do the decent this and move this game to Motherwell.  If you want to register for a ticket, do so here.

The more who register, the more reason the SFA have to agree to Fir Park as the venue.

Keep an eye on the game at Pittodrie tonight. I watched 10-man Aberdeen come from behind away to Ross County last week, they were very impressive, but our nearest challengers have developed a blind spot against Dundee.

Three points and a clean sheet tomorrow, please, Celtic.

  12. looks like the Beeb are boycottin back-

THE BBC have launched a fresh Ibrox boycott after Rangers banned the public service broadcaster’s senior sports reporter Chris McLaughlin from the club ground.

The BBC dropped a nearly month-long boycott of Ibrox in August after Rangers agreed to drop a ban on the reporter following talks.

But it has emerged that the BBC have reimposed the boycott after the broadcaster was told two weeks ago that the reporter was again not welcome at Ibrox.

    Herald Scotland:

It is understood that there was no BBC reporter at Ibrox on Saturday when Rangers beat Livingston 4-1.

BBC Scotland said: “We are disappointed that Rangers took the decision to ban our reporter Chris McLaughlin from Ibrox. We believe it is unjustifiable and we stand by the integrity and the quality of our journalism.

“We will continue to report on Rangers both on and off the pitch and will feature match action where appropriate but, until this issue is resolved, we will not be sending journalists to Ibrox or attending Rangers’ press conferences.”

Rangers have hit back saying: “This is about balance and fairness. It is Rangers’ view that after having asked for, and having been promised, exactly that – nothing more, and certainly not favour from this or any other reporter – it has not been forthcoming.

“The BBC know they are welcome but once again they, in their wisdom, have chosen not to attend Ibrox thereby denying licence payers the opportunity to see and hear from Rangers on a publicly-funded platform which is supposed to be for everyone. Rangers fans are entitled to ask if this is an abuse of the BBC’s privileged position.”

Fans previously lodged their concerns about a previous BBC boycott which began with the club’s 3-0 victory over Peterhead at the beginning of August. last year.

Mr McLaughlin was told he was not welcome after being accused of filing misleading and unbalanced reports by Rangers.

Some fans protested to the BBC and to the communications regulator Ofcom saying the BBC actions were indicative of what they felt was a continued bias against the club.

BBC sources then insisted there would be no staff member going to Ibrox until the ban on Mr McLaughlin is lifted and they would rely on agency staff.

The BBC then insisted they had no choice but to take action after Mr McLaughlin was told to stay away.

Rangers has previously said its concerns with coverage came to a head after a BBC report ‘unfairly focused’ on the arrest of Rangers fans after the club’s 6-2 win over Hibs.

Some Rangers fans complained about the previous boycott saying that the BBC actions were indicative of what they felt was a continued bias against the club.

    Herald Scotland:

In response, complainers were told by a BBC complaints representative that BBC Scotland felt the ban on Mr McLaughlin was unjustified.

Two years ago, Rangers banned BBC journalists Chris McLaughlin and Chick Young from the club’s stadium and training ground after the broadcaster revealed a leaked document which indicated a plot to sack then manager Ally McCoist.

In July 2011, the Beeb were banned and later issued an apology to McCoist over their reporting of his views on football violence and sectarianism.

A second ban came three months later over their documentary Rangers – The Inside Story about Craig Whyte’s disastrous club takeover.

In September, 2012, the BBC infuriated the club again with a spoof of the American TV drama Mad Men depicting McCoist falling from a building

  13. My friends in Celtic,

In my opinion moving the EK Thistle tie to Parkhead is a non starter. I don’t know what sort of crowd is anticipated but I would wager it will be less than what was at the Raith game last year. A live game in a ghost stadium, does anybody really want that ?.

A full crowd at New Douglas Park will provide atmosphere and create the impression of a real Scottish cup tie.

I realise that there are some on here from EK and this is a unique game.

But to many of us it is just another Cup tie against a lower league team, where we would expect to comfortably progress.

No disrespect intended, but that is truthfully how I feel.

    Hail, Hail.

TBB-EK are not happy being forced to play at Hamilton, they intend to give Celtic 20% of the tickets, about 1,000,which is their right.

    ==================

They believe the can sell the other 5k themselves? I wonder what sort of fanbase they actually have, and even accounting for a good few neutrals/locals who will come out as a one off, I do wonder where some of these people were prior to EK being formed and drawing the famous Glasgow Celtic in the cup:)

In just a day or so I sense a change in the blog.

The disagreements and arguments have as much a place on CQN as the great charitable deeds that have been done in its name. But they should be respectful and, in my opinion, the deliberate goading of other posters has led the way in its decline.

    Re the charity stuff.

I watch Newsround with my class every morning. It’s great, the online version lasts only 6 minutes but keeps them abreast of current affairs and provides opportunity to discuss things in slightly more depth.

Today I stopped it at a segment on unethical practices by some mobile phone companies in their use of children to dig 50 metres underground to dig out cobalt, which is required to manufacture the batteries.

I asked the weans how they felt about this and why they thought these children were carrying out such dangerous work.

    Main responses:

    1) the children are small enough to fit in some of the smaller spaces

    2) their families need the money

    and finally

    3) there are hardly any schools in rural Africa for them to attend.

At this point I was able to tell them about a very special man who created a Celtic blog, about the many special people who’ve supported his vision and how this group have actually made a difference to the number of children receiving an education in rural Africa.

    Thanks and welcome back.

I think St Mirren Park would be a good shout for EK to host the cup game, costs would be similar to Hamilton but that extra few 1000 on the gate would make a big difference. Good atmosphere as well when full

  18. Bada Bing

Probably the four day after the match comments about secterian singing v Hibs, nothing ever was said about the violence towards Morton fans which their fans commented on,they still try to enforce a news curfew on any accurate reporting of these issues and by and large succeed

A small boy named Billy lived in a village in Larkhall.

None of his classmates liked him because of his stupidity, especially his teacher, who was always yelling at him “You are driving me crazy BILLY!!!!!”

One day Billy’s mother came into school to check on how he was doing. The teacher told his mother honestly, that her son is simply a disaster, getting very low marks and even she had never seen such a dumb boy in her entire teaching career!!!! The mother was shocked at the feedback and withdrew her son from the school & even moved to another town!!!!!

25 years later, the teacher was diagnosed with an incurable cardio disease! All the doctors strongly advised her to have an open heart operation, which only one surgeon could perform…… Left with no

other options, the teacher decided to have the operation, which was successful……

When she opened her eyes after the surgery she saw a handsome doctor smiling down at her! She wanted to thank him, but could not talk. Her face started to turn blue, she raised her hand, pointing behind the Doctor trying to tell him something but eventually died!

The doctor was shocked and was trying to work out what went wrong, when he turned around he saw our friend Billy, working as a cleaner in the clinic, who had unplugged the oxygen equipment to connect his Hoover!!!!!

…don’t tell me you thought that Billy became an efin doctor !?!

  20. It would be great for three reasons to play E.K. at Celtic Park: E.K. would get to play at a superb venue, one which they will unlikely play in again, attracting a bigger crowd, which would give E.K. more dosh and give Celtic home advantage. However, it is not right for two reasons: E.K. were drawn at home, not Celtic. E.K. should be given every advantage for sporting fairness.

Whilst it is a great idea to give E.K. the gate money it is wrong to maximise this by playing it at Celtic Park. Not that I am saying it should be played at Hamilton but the surface is similar to what E.K. are used to playing on, sporting fairness.

I would still give the gate money win or lose to E.K. and IF it ends up a draw, give the replay gate receipts to E.K. as well.

How much would Celtic ‘s stature grow then.

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

Diagouraga joins Leeds. Watch the MSM spin this as good news for Sevco – not being “held to ransom”.

  22. Me personally ? I don’t think the blog has declined at all, each to there own mind you, IMO, this declined carry on is along the lines of people don’t get there own way, and as I’v said before only come here to use the blog to suit there agenda.

I’v been saying it from day one, I’ll not mention any names (just to be on the safe side) they come in here and slag of Celtic EVERY time they are in ( not so much now as we are on a Wee run and it doesent suit there agenda to canvas for shares) call it a cult a cabal, what ever you want but they do have an end game, all of them, and I’m not signalling any one out, I have my thoughts on who they are.

Now as I’v said this is my opinion, the declining blog is a red herring, it’s not declining, it’s alive and well and that’s a good thing , the ignore thingie works for me (although I don’t use it) but others (allegedly ) have me on theirs and as far as I’m concerned it’s a winner, keep me on it,.

The drama queens, and Wee gangs, and cliques, need to lighten up, it’s a Celtic blog owned by P67 all his, no one else’s, and it hasent been stolen, the……awe the blog is fin. Propaganda is in my opinion desperate and an insult to the owner, and I notice a few tossing the charity card about too? Not a nice way of trying to make your point and a poor way of trying to grab the moral hight ground IMO , that I don’t get, then again maybe it’s just me.

Now like others have done over the past few days stating they’r opinion on how and what state the blog is in, I’m just stating mine in the nicest possible way I can, HH

CQN – THE LATEST BOARD GAME

OBJECT OF THE GAME – Pit your wits against the crazy cast of CQN to see if you can survive on the blog for 12 months. The idea is to engage in the daily cut and thrust on subjects as diverse as fundamentalist religion through to travel advice for some of the Globes’ most outlandish destinations such as Uzbekistan, whilst maintaining the Celtic Ethos of the site. But beware! There many pitfalls.

To stay on the blog you must avoid “yellow and red cards”. These are handed out by the moderator. Cards are shown against players for profanities, political incorrectness and threats of violence and the like. You must also guard against “flouncing”. A flounce is a deliberate chucking in of the towel, and results in instant disqualification for the player. Sounds easy? But beware, many of the posters are well versed in arguing insane and irrational points. Many legendary players have recently resorted to flouncing as the pressure racked up by tenacious posters.

CQN, give it a go now, the must have board game for opinionated Celts!
