ERIK SVIATCHENKO paid a tribute to Gary Mackay-Steven as he ended his two-and-a-half year career at Celtic.

The winger, who joined the Hoops in a £2million double deal with Stuart Armstrong from Dundee United, has agreed to join Aberdeen on a two-year contract.

The Danish international defender tweeted: “Gonna miss you, my man Gary.

“I wish you all the best. Can’t wait to play against you.”

Mackay-Steven is ready to make his Dons debut in tonight’s Europa League qualifier against Siroki Brijeg just 24 hours after finalising his move from the treble-winners.

And the 26-year-old, who took part in Brendan Rodgers’ side’s pre-season friendlies in Austria earlier this month, insists he wants to help the Pittodrie men close the gap on the six-in-a-row champions.

The wide attacker is determined to help his new side gain ground on Celtic’s Invincibles after the Dons finished second to the Glasgow giants in all three domestic competitions last season.

He added: “Aberdeen have been improving year on year.

“It was always a big challenge coming up to Pittodrie. It’s always been difficult games.

“I’m just looking forward to helping the club move forward.”
