Coordination and confidence

Wee Oscar’s dad, Knoxy, asked me to relay this message to you……

“The BIG cycle to Belfast… WOW! What an absolutely incredible effort by so so many people all to raise money for our wee hero, and a great night was had by all on Saturday night up at Donegal Celtic. It is very very humbling and I really felt that my thanks conveyed to them all on Saturday night was just not enough. I know they didn’t do it for thanks or for a pat on the back but I really hope they know that both me and Leona are deeply deeply moved by what they have done.

Over the last 9 months we have thanked many hundreds of people for all sorts of different things they have done for Oscar and I’m sure after a while the thanking almost comes across a bit ‘rehearsed’ and maybe a bit insincere but we just want to make sure they all know how thankful we are to them and to the amazing people who have donated to such a whopping total!”

Fantastic work by all, very well done.

Celtic have conceded 16 goals in the 9 games since Efe Ambrose’ much debated return to the team which faced Juventus last month, a period which saw them eliminated from the Champions League and the League Cup, while losing to Motherwell and Ross County.

They conceded 16 goals in the previous 24 games, including two Champions League games against Barcelona, one against Benfica and one against Spartak Moscow.  A problem which initially appeared to be limited to Efe, has clearly affected others, including Kelvin Wilson and even the goalkeeper looks less assured than before.

More than any other facet of football, defending is dependent on confidence and teamwork.  If communication is poor, you make mistakes.  If you expect teammates to make mistakes, you’ll make decisions accordingly.  If your decisions reflect a lack of confidence, you’re on a slippery slope to losing goals.  Bad defenders look good in good teams but good defenders look hopeless once order is disturbed.

Only just catching up with the antics on Gallowgate on Saturday.  Not read about the destruction of property or occasions of assault, which I assume preceded the mass arrests.  Surely?  I’m not sure if Alex Salmond has renewed the high levels of police funding for football-related activity, which was initially due to expire at the end of this month, but for someone who is usually so politically savvy, he seems to have set off on a road without checking consequences of the legal questions.

A bit like his major project…..

Where we are today is a consequence of the First Minister’s initiatives in 2011, and is why Celtic fans, the Club, and many others, opposed the initiative at the time.  It’s playing out pretty much as everyone with an interest in football expected.  Mr Salmond’s Scotland is looking a bit like Mrs Thatcher’s Yorkshire, circa 1984.

You’re as well blaming the inclement weather as blaming the police or anyone in the game, the police, like the weather, do what they do. This is the work of the Other Charlotte Square Bogeyman.

Rumor has it that PAOK FC is considering a departure from the national league! The reason creates a strong legal basis: corrupt system.

    Celtic Football Club Statement

By: Newsroom Staff on 18 Mar, 2013 18:07

CELTIC Football Club today, Monday, released the following statement.

‘The safety and well-being of Celtic supporters is of paramount importance to the Club. The Club is very concerned to see imagery of Saturday’s march by members of the Green Brigade from Gallowgate to Celtic Park, and subsequent claims by supporters of police harassment and heavy-handed policing.

This is an issue which the Club takes very seriously. Once again we would urge any supporter who feels that they have been a victim of such harassment to contact the Club with details by using the following email addresses

    fansagainstcriminalisation@gmail.com and operations@celticfc.co.uk

in order that we can formally raise such matters with Strathclyde Police.

We should remind supporters that the Club has set up a working group, which is independently chaired, to establish a Complaints Review Panel to oversee the complaints’ process and improve transparency.

Any suggestion of collusion between the Club and Strathclyde Police is, quite frankly, ludicrous.

The Celtic support has a long and well-established reputation for good behaviour and everyone is very proud of that and keen to ensure that it continues.

In the meantime we will be writing to the Chief Constable to ask for a full report on Saturday’s events.

So transparently obvious that Minty and Masterton have booted his baws, you’re fooling no one Jimmy, the cat’s out the bag.

your eyesight is letting you down a bit

what you quote as being written by me was actually ernie lynch’s reply to me

please refrain from suggesting that i in anyway defend glasgow city council’s policy for endorsing orange walks, not only endorsing but extending

  5. Hmm…

The statement is a virtual carbon copy of the last one. Still no explanation for the one match “suspension” of season tickets dovetailing nicely with the last lot of action from Strathclydes finest.

It’s wrong to accuse the board of complicity with no evidence, but the longer the club continues on this passive road the harder it is to shake the impression that they’re at least comfortable with proceedings.

A much stronger statement was required, and questions remain unanswered.

Billiam Dodds having a pop at big Chris. Maybe he should be more concerned about paying back that loan. You know the one he said was to “pay up his contract” ie a Contractual Payment……

    Well this;

“Any suggestion of collusion between the Club and Strathclyde Police is, quite frankly, ludicrous.”

I have to laugh well done Celtic at least the statement is something but means hee haw, the club PL in particular needs to acknowledge what has went on in the past, the CSA, and Affiliation know what has been said and by whom, they all know what the agenda was/is against the GB, and that is the truth and they all know it!

This is not a time for heads in the sand or denials of collusion, before anyone says well that’s it the club has denied it, the people who took part in the various meetings from before Christmas up until a few weeks ago know what the real truth is!

  8. Big Vic is easly our most important player so I suggest he should be made an offer that might pursuade him to stay with us. If Broonie is the present top earner on £30,000 a week we could maybe give VW £50,000 . He would probably get a lot more in the EPL but it may be enough for him to give us another couple of seasons. With VW we will have a better chance to get back into Champions League group again .

  9. pggtips2…

Sorry! I was meaning it as reply to Ernie. I know where you stand, and are in agreement broadly!

Not so much a failure of eyesight as failure to fully copy paste. Ironically, I’m actually heading off to buy a new mouse for that very reason (with all the bolding I do, the mouse buttons take a helluva pounding). :)

Sorry again – I know you’re one of the good guys! :D ;)

If you are reading. Maybe time to put up an article re the “Stranraer precedent” before it picks up a head of steam.

Stranraer went from the third tier to the second tier. Seems like this lot are trying to go from the fourth tier to the second tier.

  12. pggtips2

ernie lynch was replying to my post at 14.00

Again, sorry! The main annoyance on here is the inability to edit posts. But hopefully this will clarify the position.

We’re on the same side on this, so I’d be crazy to try and misrepresent you (not that I’d purposely misrepresent anyone…but still!) :)

    /p

  13. Agreed , the statement could have been more in detail from Celtic. However, I will take it as gospel their is no collusion with the polis.

I need to come to that conclusion as if it is indeed ever proved correct the consequences for our great club will be truly nuclear .

I dare not think of the impact of that as it would be amongst the gravest crises to hit our club

  14. Calderwood stuttering and stammering and still saying Rangers was the ‘carrot’. Oh and he blamed big Chris and he had a Celtic fan in his team. What about the team piss up on the Thursday night before the game Jimmy?

  15. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

Billiam Dodds putting up a staunch defence for Murray and Masterton. Quelle surprise….

  16. Evening bhoys from a warm hun free mountain valley.

Not convinced with the club statement.

    Someone is telling porkies.

The club should be challenging the blatent corruption within scottish football, they are condoning it by their silence.

As for chuck’s latest, seems like he will get his way, feck intergrity, get the huns back at all costs.

Had it, it’s not going to change, those who think it will seriously need help.

    Take care and god bless.

  17. Our Clubs fight should be with the Scottish football authorities / referees and the Masonic r*****s are still alive illusion they are trying to pull off , not with its own supporters .

Getting seriously pi**ed off with the lack of fight on these issues .

    HH

  18. Well, I hope Celtic don’t include those 13 tickets sold in the attendance figure published since the lads are banned from the game.

Absolutely disgraceful that this is allowed to happen; an affront to natural justice.

  19. Getting a bit fed up with theSPL is rubbish,no competition etc.,.

    Celtic-15 points ahead

    Barcelona-13 points ahead

    Bayern – 20 points ahead

Man U -15 points ahead (the best league in the world)

I don’t hear the MSM demanding these other leagues change their setup to make space for a club with 500,000 supporters.

  20. TET@18:39

The fact that Green has had to make that statement shows that he is not ‘getting his way’.

He needs a ‘promotion’ so he can increase SB’s by as much as 25%. With them being stuck in the bottom 18 or the 3rd tier for next season that can’t happen.

Another liquid moment is only another 12 months away.

  21. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

Charlie’s latest statement – apart from being an absolute joke, doesn’t even make sense by his own argument.

He says he wants all the teams in Scotland to benefit from Sevco’s support (no laughing at the back), then says they should jump over an entire division! Thereby ensuring NO benefit to these teams!

Stranraer moved from the third tier to the second tier. This joker wants to go from the fourth tier to the second tier. Please someone knock this nonsense on the head.

Believe me listen to the Celtic Dreams podcast link posted on page 4, at 120 mins in a poster called “Glasgow Road” who was on the committee of the Affiliation of Celtic supporters clubs comes on and gives a full frank account of meetings between various supporters clubs and PL and club officials.

It is a full no holds barred frank statement of fact of what has went on and who the main protagonists are. The latest statement from the club is in response to the depth of feeling and no doubt numbers of complaints that have surged in after Saturdays events.

I have no agenda, i am not a member of the GB and i had my own views on the job the board have done, which on the whole has been good, but on this so important issue i know who i believe, and believe me it is int the club!

We will not move on until the club either pull back from their current agenda which clearly is to break the Green Brigade (i will state again all those who toke part in those meetings know it”), there has to be face to face dialogue.

Listen the Green Brigade are no angels and a little softening of entrenched positions may help but they are not and should not be blamed for this.

I know of a young fella from Falkirk, who is on remand for two months for attending a game after a polis ban.

Not been near a court, innocent of what they have charged him with, sad state of affairs.

TET its basically a bail condition. You agree to it on release. If you break it you are breaking the conditions of your bail and therefore remanded.

  26. how can you ban someone from celtic park or football grounds when the offence took place 3 miles down the road? if i got caught speeding as i was late for the game could they ban me from football because of my reckless action, in attempting to get to game?

love the’ innocent until proven guilty’, but your getting punished until you prove us wrong!!!!!! the BOP charge is a catch all, if you happen to struggle or protest your thrown to the ground and charged with police assault, simply an abuse of power

if your in a gang of 200, carrying and offensive weapon and kettling a small group into a corner, then what is that? take away the uniforms and replace with hoodies, is that behaviour acceptable and appropraite.

heads should roll and it should not be the ground force police but the senior’s giving orders to act in this fashion

  27. Ten Men

The campaign is under way, the MSM are only starting theirs.

Ach, am just a bit down, all I see is infighting, and while we are all fighting with each other, the hun agenda is steamrollering on unchallenged.

They are getting away with it, and shoehorning them into the middle tier will happen imo, I don’t believe the other clubs are up for the fight any more.
