1254125, transfer selling and sell out books

613

Thank you to everyone who participated in our auction for the Lionel Messi signed shirt, which raised £1020 when it closed this morning, a clear £20 more than the Celtic top signed by the Seville squad, which closed a few days earlier, you are a credit to the club.  Our summer fundraising for the 1254125 campaign and other good causes is off to an excellent start.

We have seven weeks until our first Champions League qualifying game but the qualifying rounds do not end for a full 12 weeks.  These timescales will determine how seriously Celtic take interest in our star players.  Right now, there will be little attention to these matters.

With a couple of new contract offers unsigned after 8 months, I expect Celtic will have a sale valuation in mind, but business is often done in the final days of the transfer window, and until then, efforts will continue to re-sign players.  Celtic are in the fortunate position of not having to accept an offer to keep the lights on, so if valuations are not met, as was the case with Gary Hooper in January, we can afford to let players leave for nothing.

Willie Wallace’s autobiography, Heart of a Lion, sold out initial stock at the mail-order fulfilment centre and several retail stores last week.  The fulfilment centre is now back in stock, all orders should be shipped and with you in a couple of days.

  2. Does anyone know whether there is a response being put together to the ASA’s letter sent out at the weekend with it’s regards to its decision about SevcoFC and the dead club’s history?

    That is very interesting. I don’t want to go too deep into it on here tonight as there are posters who are not quite into my life style. But, a big thank you, and going to check it out online. :)))

  8. hooper should be sold to the highest bidder anything over 4.5 million will be good business.

    victor is top class but given he’s no signing an extension, we should be looking to cash in, 12 million + is good business.

    anything over 6 million for foster is good business, but i’d be keeping him unless stupid money came in i.e. 9 million

    don’t sign up and we move you on.

    ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

    lets get Sammy, ledley and stokes signed up on longer contracts, they want to be with us, are good enough.

    ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

    the removal from the books of mccourt, rogne, miku, israli international loanee, murphy, lassad, bangurra (and possible sale of hooper, victor and foster) will allow us to get several (3/4) quality players in who want to pull on the hoops.

    Bangura would have been a really good player at his former Club / League, and Henrik would have made a ‘judgement call’ on that basis…….as is the case with some players, they find it difficult (sometimes impossible) to adjust to Scottish Football ……. Most teams in Scotland don’t play silky / tactics-based football …… It’s ‘up and at them’ stuff, which confuses some players when they first arrive in this Country …….

  13. Re: Bangura on the limited outings from the subs bench , he looks to very speedy with a few tricks to get past defenders at or around the half way line. You could imagine in the tip tappy continental leagues , he could be effective playing on the break. However , his first touch is poor and faced with a retreating defence , he has no plan B. Similar, player to the finnish centre Rangers had , Jonansson , he played on rhe break and looked a player when he went to Charlton.

    Re Russell , you would get plenty of effort and running from the young chap, however. I get the impression he is playing to his absolute max for the Arabs and we might just get another 10% out of him. He is another player who needs space to run into and his ball control is too poor to be considered for 1st team selection in European games. A good squad addition who would do us a turn in the league.

    I can’t think of 1 opposition player who I have seen at CP this year who would make our bench, so signings will be from far afield.

    Weefrathetim – ole admiral ZHeng he travelled much of the world, but no one seriously believes he discovered the Americas.

    In a less western centric world he would be as famous as Magellan or da gama.

    It’s hard to imagine that Alex Byrne is 80. He was one of the best players I remember from my childhood.

    Totally agree with you there and my comment wasn’t meant as a criticism of Alec. We used to be amazed at the way he would “go daft” on that left wing in the wee team. He was absolutely mesmorizing!!!

    Try the north and the north-west. Anywhere on the Basque coast, with brilliant trips available to San Sebastián, Bilbao, Pamplona and Bayonne, even Lourdes and the most amazing food and drink in the world (FACT).

    Next along, to the west, is Cantabria, which is more touristy and has some Brits because it’s on the ferry route. But there are places that are great (Santillana de Mar, Comillas) and you can easily reach Bilbao for the Guggenheim and the mountains. The Battered Bunnett has been looking into this.

    Next along is Asturias, bagpipes, mountains, cider. Cracking place. The capital is Oviedo, which is a wee bit inland, but Gijón is big, important town on the coast and there are other beaches along the coast.

    Last, Galicia, bagpipes, mountains, red hair, like some imaginary Wales or Scotland with lots more sunshine and infinitely better food and drink. Great towns include Lugo and Santiago inland and La Coruña on the coast. Pontevedra further along is also an interesting small provincial capital, and the Vigo. From there, you are nearly at the Portuguese border. There are beaches everywhere, ferries to small islands. It’s heaven on earth.

    Was that on the steps of the old asbestos dome.

    I liked the scene where the rabid zombies gather there to raise the old trophy high … to celebrate victory over the mighty montrose and elgin human races.

  28. There is a lot of pressure at Celtic (in so many ways), a lot of very skilled players just cannae handle that.

    OK, if we are still in Scotland playing football and get that 10, it would be awesome, Europe BABY, that is where we are @.

    Refswilldestroyus.cSsee!

    I witnessed a shocking homer from Airdrie who let bad challenges wreck the game, first time I have seen a coach getting sent off, luckily enough the older coach was there to take his place as medic etc.

    The game should have been abandoned due to the total ineptness of the referee but Alan said (and he was Bang On) just let the boys play on because he knows how to use injustice in a good way.

    ;)
