LIEL ABADA has sealed his £8million switch from Celtic to MLS outfit Charlotte FC.
The 22-year-old Israeli international winger has been missing from recent Hoops squads with boss Brendan Rodgers stating the player was not mentally attuned.
In September, Abada signed an extension to keep him at the champions until 2027, but the player, bought by Ange Postecoglou for £3.5million from Maccabi Petah Tikva in July 2021, has now agreed a four-year deal with the American club.
Israel’s conflict with Palestine placed pressure on Abada with criticism in his homeland while he was said to have had talks with the Hoops hierarchy over the flying of a Palestinian flag in a section of the club’s following.
Rodgers had hoped the delicate situation could be resolved, but after a couple of months it looked more and more likely that the flanker would quit Parkhead to play elsewhere.
Now Abada has had his wish with a permanent switch to America, as reported in the Scottish Sun.
