  1. Margaret McGill on

Three strangers strike up a conversation in the airport passenger lounge in Bozeman, Montana, awaiting their flights.

One is an American Indian passing through from Lame Deer. Another is a Cowboy on his way to Billings for a livestock show and the third passenger is a fundamentalist Arab student, newly arrived at Montana State University from the Middle East.

Their discussion drifts to their diverse cultures. Soon, the two Westerners learn that the Arab is a devout, radical Muslim and the conversation falls into an uneasy lull.

The cowboy leans back in his chair, crosses his boots on a magazine table and tips his big sweat-stained hat forward over his face. The wind outside is blowing tumbleweeds around, and the old windsock is flapping; but still no plane comes.

Finally, the American Indian clears his throat and softly he speaks, “At one time here, my people were many, but sadly, now we are few.”

The Muslim student raises an eyebrow and leans forward, “Once my people were few,” he sneers, “and now we are many. Why do you suppose that is?”

The Montana cowboy shifts his toothpick to one side of his mouth and from the darkness beneath his Stetson says in a drawl,

“That’s ’cause we ain’t played Cowboys and Muslims yet, but I do believe it’s a-comin’.”

    TONTINE TIM, Can’t remember Sugar/Tenderfoot

*It was called Sugarfoot in the States and Tenderfoot at hame where it jumped between ITV and the BBC. It was a spin off of Bronco.

  3. Stairheedrammy on

Watched sportscene earlier where they predictably focused on the non penalty and completely ignored Rooney’s wee sly kick at Broonie, eventhough they had to show it.

  4. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Parkheadcumsalford, his reckless tackle on Liam Henderson in the cup replay, in the last minute of a game United were 4 nil down, showed me what an idiot he is.

I know he comes from a Celtic supporting family but his demeanour and behaviour any time he played against us left a bad taste.

    67 Heaven at 5.46T

They will roast your arse, the country you live in will feck you up in a heartbeat, people in here say they got your back, like f… they have, your being set up for the fall, it’s what the do. University students like Derik Johnstone , are cheer leaders, a nothing IMO, your CT, and your GB, are politics, and fly on the coat tails of my club, win loss or draw, as long as the CT and the CG continue? It makes this club a university play toy.

    Mon the hoops, GIRFUYs.

  6. The Lone Ranger (what irony) was the very first tv programme I saw. Me and my brothers were allowed to go to aunt Ina’s on a Saturday evening for half an hour to watch it. Aunt Ina was the only person we knew who had a telly. My sisters wren’t allowed to view….too much excitement, I suppose.

GFTB – The Eagle in the Brig, fond memories, glad it’s still a celtic-minded hostelry. Early 70’s used to stay over with friends in the area when couldn’t get back from games.

  7. Gerryfaethebrig on

    Dallas

    Bad taste ?

If I ever played against Celtic I would try harder than any other game Scott MacDonald got his move to us the EK thistle goalie last season, fair play if you can pick one tackle out but surely in this day and age players should just get on with it, maybe if some remember one tackle it’s maybe not Ryan McGowan”s problem, I think as a defender he kicked anything that moved up to the point he could get away with….. I certainly never saw him play any different against other teams

  9. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Gerry, despite Ryan McGowan’s good background, his playing style and in particular, his confrontational attitude on the pitch. done my head in.

The perfect example was his reaction when Virgil and that schmuck, Paton, were sent off at Tannadice.

  10. Margaret McGill on

FFP is like corporate pensions. All is well as long as the executives get what they want first. If they even suspect that there gravy train is history forget about pensions. The analogy? The SFA.

Shoogly gravy train i.e. the demise of the huns as perceived by the SFA (and Celtic PLC BTW) then all bets are off and corruption and survival kick in. Thats why band aid Ibrox is still around.

I played with the Sunday night team from the Eagle, back in the day it was the first boozer to show 3pm games at Celtic Park, my young nephew drinks with all the mob from that neck if the woods, a bit down class for a Summerlee Bhoy :-) only posted that in hope a kirkwood kangaroo is reading these pages

  13. Gerryfaethebrig on

    Dallas

Totally agree, I used to go off my heid at the bam but in the cold light of day I would expect no less

I even used the “I thought you were one of us ya dirty xxxx”

  14. FAN-A-TIC…

    Thanks for the link.

I was watching a documentary a few weeks back and one of the contributors said that for every elected member of the Senate or House in Washington their are 6 lobbyists working on behalf of the corporations.

    Cash is king.

  15. Auldheid

The sfa in the form of Stewart Regan has already said that if the huns get into europe, the cup final was their last chance, they would be put forward to represent scotland, he was asked directly if they were eligible and he affirmed they were.

Audited books or not, they will get the chance to compete in europe next season, the call has gone out, the huns NEED euro footy, can you see the cheats with the whistles not accomodating their masters needs ?

  16. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Gerry, like you if I played against us, I would play my heart out.

Ryan McGowan reminded me of how Simpson and Cooper were for Aberdeen in the early eighties. Dishing it out, confrontational and couldn’t take it back when their physical approach was matched.

  17. DALLAS DALLAS

No matter what persuasion Ryan McGowans family are he always played like a hun in my opinion.

His suggesting that Rogic should leaves is also hunnish.

The mssm are ramping up how unfair it is that we have the financial and talent gap on the rest of the league.

I can remember the same mssm telling us when a financially doped hun were winning that it was good for the game as everybody would have to improve to compete with their favourites.

    :-)

Most good jokes have a grain of truth.

  20. THE EXILED TIM

Think the huns are donald ducked if they think European competition is their savior.

The Europa does not bring a huge revenue stream.

Plus without Scottish mibs they will struggle against European minnows.

I guess they want to perceived as a big team.

  21. Gerryfaethebrig on

    Simpson & Cooper

How Neale Cooper made it is beyond me, I still don’t think he knows what a ball is, apart from Durrant at least Neil Simpson could actually kick a ball

Dallas if you don’t mind me asking when did we stop getting the Beech End behind the goals watching the game yesterday all my early trips to pittodrie we were behind the goals, only asking as I know you are a walking Celtic encyclopaedia:-)

  22. Who gives a toss what McGowan says, who is he playing for now, some third rate Chinese team? Never rated him and never will.

Every one of our players has a price. If anyone wants Tom Rogic they won’t get change out of ÂŁ15m.

  23. So as the plane took off from Glasgow on its way to Los Angeles, terrified as I am of flying, I gripped the armrests.

At last the plane levelled off and as I relaxed I looked around to find that the most beautiful lassie on the plane was sitting next to me and was similarly terrified.

    “You ok?” I asked

“Terrified… do you know I can talk in front of two thousand people and not break a sweat, but fly? No we’re not designed for that.”

“Same here…whit do you talk about?”

“Oh genetics and racial stereotypes. I specialise in romance and the worlds best male lovers.”

“Hmmm? and what have you found then?”

“Amazingly the most imaginative and exciting studs are undoubtedly a cross between North American Indian and the Scots….anyway enough of me…I don’t even know your name.”

“as it happens” I replied shamefacedly “I was christened Hiawatha MacTavish”

    Hail Hail

    Matt

  24. Here are my valuations (PL would love me)…

    Dembele ÂŁ25m

    Griffiths ÂŁ15m

    Rogic ÂŁ15m

    Erik ÂŁ10m

    Jozo ÂŁ10m and rising

    KT – get lost

    Sinclair ÂŁ15m

Roberts – ÂŁ8m (for us to buy)

  25. GERRYFAETHEBRIG

When I started going up to Pittodrie, probably around late 70s, we got The Paddock End, opposite the Beach End. The first tine I can remember being in the corner we currently get was early 90s.

    ====================================================================

There was a time when McGowan`s advice / recommendation was valid.

While we compete in the C.L. , it is not.

Basically he is just recognising what a marvellous player Tom is.

I wonder if he is aware of the patience shown by Celtic over Tom`s extensive injury layoff.

    Probably not.

  27. CELTIC SLAMMED BY SCOTTISH FOOTBALL FANS

Comments sent in to Daily Record reporter Craig Swan highlighted Scottish fan fears that Celtic could run away with the league title due to a lack of competition from the rest of the division.

“It must be so satisfying to overpay average players 30 times more than their hard-working opponents and win a one-horse race, well done,” Scottish fan Mark Lester said.

A Rangers fan claimed Scottish football officials need to do more to prevent Celtic spending too much money on players’ wages to allow for a level playing field.

“The SPFL should handicap Celtic as they are going to win the race for the title by a mile. It’s not funny,” said Tom McDade.

    It is to me Tom.

  28. BABASINICOS71

Lobbying has no place in a democracy.

I watched a PBS documentary on the robber barons that said after the Clayton act was used to stop monopolies like Standard oil that Rockerfeller was enraged and called a meeting with others like Carnegie and JPMorgan.

They were outraged at the notion that government could regulate them and set out a plan to control government.

That was the beginning of a huge increase in lobbying.

    I think they succeeded.

  29. Just been catching up a bit.

You seem uptight again about the Trust and the GB, honestly, let it go. Such hatred for your fellow Tims isn’t good.

The irony meter is ‘off the radar’, to quote a churnalist from the same rag

  31. TD67

If there is clear evidence that SFA are “at it” then why do none of the club’s including Celtic want to challege.

It is their own supporters who are being “rogered” so to speak.
