Aberdeen when they are looking ominously at Glass

227

When second placed score five against third the same day first score four at the team in fourth place, you can expect the top two to be involved in few shocks.  I expect Celtic and Newco to vacuum up points at home without trouble and do nearly as well on the road.  It is places like Aberdeen and Livingston that concern me most.

That being the case, it should be a perfect time for Celtic to visit Pittodrie, while we are scoring goals for fun and Aberdeen fans are looking ominously in the direction of Stephen Glass.  After winning four out of five, tomorrow’s hosts have collected just two points from the last four games, losing to St Mirren and Livi, although taking an important point from Newco.

It would be good to get this game won, done and out of the road, reduce the remaining away fixture count to five.

I was going to respond but I see the lack of effort you put into your rant has already been highlighted.

Want to retract and ask Boris to deal with it?

  2. My God, how Ive ALWAYS HATED Kris Boyd.

In FACT…I used to know some Huns fans who ALSO Hated him when he played for the Huns the first time, DESPITE all his goals.

They HATED him even more when he joined the Huns for a 2nd time.

Their HATRED of Boyd MAY have had something to do with his POOR Record when playing CELTIC, as he only scored ONE GOAL against Celtic during both his stints with the Huns.

Funny enough, There was NO HATRED/DISLIKE for Joe McBride from Celtic supporters ( FAR from it), DESPITE Joe NEVER scoring against the Huns whilst playing for Celtic,

Theres yet ANOTHER DIFFERENCE between the Celtic support and the Hun fans.

Joe McBride was LOVED by the Celtic support, but MAYBE someone can CORRECT Me IF I am wrong about Joe NOT scoring against the Huns, whilst a Celtic player ?

I would LOVE to WRONG ”

    HH.

R.I.P Joe McBride…..a GREAT Player and a true Gentleman off the Pitch.

I thought the atmosphere at the hun game was sensational.

    ——

I agree it was special, however the pyros are very worrying, and I note your reservations.

Pyrotechnics are banned in grounds by UEFA & FIFA for very good reason, in the same way that political demonstration & protests are also banned.

If you leave these things unchecked eventually individuals/groups will hijack, overstep the mark. There will be a catastrophe as more sophisticated & powerful pyros get used to make a bigger impression – it will be a ‘free for all’ with different factions competing.

The same applies to political displays in football stadia. The game is growing worldwide with an enormous TV & Streaming audience. It could present a stage for hard-line groups, terrorist organisations and the like. Violence would inevitably follow and the game as a live spectator sport would suffer and die.

That’s why I believe a zero-tolerance policy must be enforced. What’s the point of driving racism out of football, only to let other dangerous practices in?

People who bring pyros & politics into football stadia either don’t think it through, or, if they do, have sinister motivation.

I can’t remember which poster it was but after the last game against the huns someone posted that Hatate had scored more games against the huns in one game than Boyd had against Celtic in his whole career!!

Absolute belter!! :-) One he should never be allowed to forget.

  5. JHB on 9th February 2022 6:59 am

As ever reeking of hypocrisy. From the poster who accused 50% of Scots of racism.

Celtic fans don’t need lectures from you anymore than we would need them for the tories or the OO.

  6. One particular Hun Pal of mine owned my Local Pub a few years ago, and sometimes when Celtic played at Ipox and I did NOT have a Ticket, I would watch the Huns against Celtic in my local Pub, and it was a ” MIXED” Company at our Tables. Some Hun fans and some Celtic supporters ALL Drinking together and the Beer and the Banter was flowing.

This one Hun Pal ( ALEC…The Owner of the Pub) was Drinking with us and watching the Huns v Celtic game from Ipox in this Mixed company.

I THINK the Huns won either 3-0 or 3-1 that Day, and that was the game that BOYD Scored his ONLY Goal against Celtic. Obviously when he scored, the other Hun fans in the Bar were on their feet cheering etc…ALL EXCEPT ” ALEC”…HE was sitting directly across the Table from me, and he literally just sat there motionless, and he didnt join in the Hun celebrations…In FACT, he had a look on his Face as IF it was CELTIC who had just scored…so much was his HATRED for Boyd.

Alec always described Boyd as a ” Fat, Lazy Bassa”, who should NEVER have been allowed to sign for ” rangers”.

One of Alecs sons was a Pro Player with Hamilton Accies and other clubs and this SON had become Pals with Boyd for a while. One night the SON brought BOYD into the Lounge of his Fathers Pub for a Bevvy. Alec ( The Father) was NOT in the Pub THAT Evening, but when he FOUND OUT the next Day that HIS Son had brought Boyd into HIS PUB…He was ” Raging” and warned his boy NEVER to ever do that again !

I enjoyed the company of ” ALEC” on many an occasion ( He would also sometimes COACH me to try and play Golf), and his SON. would also get me Tickets for Celtic games at Ipox and Hampden thru his AGENT, whenever Tickets were hard to come by.

    ……….

It was pointed out that HATATE had now scored more Goals against the Huns in 45 minutes than Boyd ever managed against Celtic in his long Hun career.

I can STILL remember that Boyd Goal against Celtic as he was given YARDS of SPACE, with NO Celtic players near him and from about 10 yards out he scored…..It was a GIFT from the Celtic defence.

  24. Might surprise some on here, certainly surprised me, that one of the best articles written in relation to the David Goodwillie scandal, amongst the farrago (check your dictionary to see if I used that right) published elsewhere, is to be found in the Sunday Post, home of Pa Broon (not he formerly of the exchequor) et al. More than a decade on it seriously questions why the criminal charges he was facing (Goodwillie, not Pa Broon ma Lord) were dropped when the case against him appeared to be solid. Was surprised to read that he was represented by Paul McBride QC, late of this parish, but less so that the Lord Advocate at the time was one Frank Mulholland. Even less surprising was the fact that the day after the charges were dropped, Craig Levein stated that he would consider picking him for Scotland again. Note, again. Shortly afterwards Goodwillie was transferred to Blackburn Rovers for a seven figure fee. Maybe the First Minister could announce a public inquiry, or even a Judicial Review, or whatever is appropriate to the political and legal system in Scotland. No?

  25. The Scottish Government put forward a list of nominees for honours each year, to the UK government.

That’s been the process for decades.

I’m sure if they wanted to strip someone of an honour they could submit this to the UK government.

If the UK government wanted to strip someone of an honour they could do that without instruction from the Scottish Government.

I doubt the Scottish or UK government think Murray should be stripped of his honour.

  26. Given that the Celtic players have all been playing so well recently and WINNING matches, I can only IMAGINE that The Bhoys are ” Itching” for the next game, no matter who the opposition are ?

I can only imagine that the ” Mood” in training must be one of…” When is the next game” etc and The Bhoys are very confident in their own, and each others abilities to put in a GREAT or VERY GOOD performance as we tackle each game ?

EVERY Player for now, MUST be VERY determined to play well, and NOT lose their place in this Team, so the Celtic Camp just now MUST/SHOULD be UNITED and be a very HAPPY Camp ?

The players look to have TRUST in each other and in ANGE…Which is great to see, and barring any further injuries and/or suspensions I believe that this SQUAD of players will only get better and have even MORE Confidence as each contest is met HEAD ON ?

I KNOW that I am stating the obvious above.

    LOL

  28. AN TEARMANN on 8TH FEBRUARY 2022 8:27 PM

Sorry for the delay in replying, damn work and home life keeps interfering with the Blog.

Anyway, An Caileach, is the ancient Gaelic way of explaining Winter (Ireland, West of Scotland and Isle of Mann. ) She has been likened to a Hag, a Witch and even an “Evil” Godess.

Depicted as a veiled hag or an old crone, with one eye and deathly pale skin, she is said to have a bow-legged leaping gait, striding across mountains with a power to shape and transform the landscapes as rocks fall from her gathered apron.

The Cailleach is the goddess of the winter months and is said to control the weather and the winds as well as the length and harshness of winter. Her season begins on October 31st, the Samhain festival, which we celebrate today as Halloween.

She imprisons Bríd, who is the bringer of Life and Renewal, holding her prisoner for as long as possible. However, her strength weakens and eventually Bríd escapes to renew the world at the Festival of Imbolc (around February 1st). This is believed to be the origins of the “new” Candlemas.

Dagda, (Bríds father) was chief of the Tuatha dé Danann, the foremost of the Irish ancestral gods. Highly skilled and wise beyond measure, he was not only the god of life and death, but of seasons, agriculture, fertility, magic, and druidry as well. He wielded three sacred treasures: a cauldron of plenty, a club of life and death, and a harp that controlled men and seasons alike.

His children were plentiful, as were his lovers. His dwelling place was Brú na Bóinne.

The use of “Gods” to describe or explain everything form landscapes, natural events/disasters to human emotions is the hallmark of who we are.

Personally, I prefer the sheer colour and imagination of these fantastic Gods to the rather dour, boring more modern theistic religions such as Christianity, Islam, and Judaism and their monotheistic beliefs.

Anyway, each to their own, mo chara.

  29. CELTIC MAC on 9TH FEBRUARY 2022 9:20 AM

    …………….

Sadly, I had Personal/ Professional ” Dealings” with FRANK MULHOLLAND just a few short years ago.

Just like HIS …The Law Society of Scotland Mr Mulholland was CORRUPT, and like The Law Society HE chose to ignore WRITTEN DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE of WRONG DOING by a particular Glasgow Solicitor, who was a Serial LIAR in WRITTEN correspondence to myself and The Law Society itself, and who also STOLE 50% of my Compensation Monies from my previous employer.

In ONE particular Complaint of this so call Solicitor, I had provided The Law Society with HARDCORE WRITTEN EVIDENCE ( From the Solicitor himself)…. that some of the RESPONSES that HE had STATED….Were IN FACT Completely IMPOSSIBLE to have ever been TRUE… Some SCENARIO’S/matters that the Solicitor had provided were IN Fact…HUMANLY IMPOSSIBLE for to have happened !

Yet still, Mr Mulholland and HIS Law Society REFUSED to BUDGE.

Over the years, I have spoken to numerous Solicitors and have made them aware of the Law Society being CORRUPT….and a Law Society who proved to be determined to SUPPORT ANY of their MEMBERS…NO MATTER the Evidence that was against them.

MANY of the Solicitors that I had spoken to would AGREE with ME, about The Law Society being CORRUPT.

    HH.

Sorry for the wee Rant there.

    LOL.

  30. CAUSE & EFFECT

I am sure that most reasonable people will understand that Celtic had no choice but to shut down the standing-section after what transpired last Wednesday night.

If there is a casualty,or, God forbid, a death from this kind of behaviour, the club will stand accused of being wilfully negligent and ignoring the safety of fans, if it does not act. The legal consequences of would be far-reaching and costly. Parts of the stadium may be closed down for a prolonged period, indeed Celtic Park could be closed to spectators altogether for a period of time. Had there been a bad outcome on Wednesday, it could be happening now. Imagine the effect it could have at this crucial stage of the season.

Of course those who occupy the safe-standing area are no strangers to putting the club ‘under the cosh’. Their antics have cost the club plenty season after season – hundreds of thousands of Euros in fines – it’s only a matter of time until these fines escalate and further punishment jeopardising the stadium capacity and/or our participation in competition. is handed down.

So cause & effect must be in the forefront of the minds of those running Celtic at this moment in time. If the cause is not addressed, the effect on Celtic and 99.9% of the support will be considerable.

Make no mistake, this is a serious situation where the club must be seen to be tackling.

  31. Five away games to go after tonight – P67 like myself is ticking off the games, that’s the stage we’re now at. A win tonight is a big result. It’ll be tough. I expect a fraught night because they’ll undoubtedly raise their game.

  32. HOT SMOKED @ 09:35

Cheers for reply. The point of hard-line groups & terrorist organisations, referred to football worldwide – the UEFA/FIFA stance recognises this HH.
