We had just lost one experienced full-back to injury. To sub Izzy at that point may have been a good decision in hindsight, but not at the time. Not with a hugely inexperienced replacement our only option.
Ronny had every right to expect Izzy to show a it more nous than he did.

How good was Efe when he came on? Well done big man :)
Hats off to Ronny too, even though I was screaming at him to take Commons off for most of the second half for Janko. Was good to see a proper plan tonight with our wingers denying space & the midfield three keeping its shape, for the most part it worked great. Disappointed to see Izzy sent off for two soft yellow cards, Ajax had a few similar challenges that went unpunished. A couple of negatives was Gordon once again looked awful at two cross balls. Lucky to get way with the first one that hit the post but the second, while it was a tremendous ball in he shouldnt be beaten by a direct free kick in the center of the goals. Also Simunovic looked poor in the air but for a debut he did well.
All in all 2-2 would have grabbed your hand off before the game but we should have won it. Great away point though & proud of all our Bhoys tonigh. Great performance. HH!
Stopthewhingers on
Feel sorry for the whingers who are now at a loss struggling with their Ronny out, oh wait mebbe not routine, same as last year!
We drew against one of the biggest clubs in Europe away from home. Fact.
Unsurprisingly the blog overflowing with positive comments from true Celtic bhoys rather than the usual suspects who will just have to settle for complaining about who got kicked off the bake-off last night!
Against the favourites Ajax, Ronny Deila stuck to his favoured 4-5-1 (despite the Celtic experts) and were it not for the misfortune, it might even have been all three points.
The group is now wide open with our draw, and with Molde’s away win, ticket sales will surge.
Too many excellent individual performances to pick out, no failures in what was a tremendous tactical result for the manager and his squad who all played to his tune, though Kris Commons over 80 minutes showed why he’s right to be ‘unhappy’
Brown and Bitton were both awesome Simunovic and Boyata were steady and Ambrose did well to cover for first pick, but limited Lustig. The Izzaguire second yellow was avoidable, but the Ajax player simulated and the referee was too eager to buy it.
Well done to the CQN Bloggers that saw the Celtic comeback, from Saturday as a given. Suddenly £66 for ST holders makes the Europa League, look a nicer Celtic proposition, and the flailing of Dundee is back on.
2-2 versus Ajax in Amsterdam has been a great result at anytime in our history.

Thought we would hold on for the win until Izzy, after a good performance till then, blotted his copybook once again !
The ball for the second goal is a perfect ball, not to cast doubt on football knowledge but if you think that was Craigs fault or even our shaky defence’s fault, they really don’t understand professional football.
On Ronny, he should be telling the press we’re not pleased with the result and that we can play much better, not saying how proud he is ! Tell them that in the dressing room.. but let everyone else think we’re not satisfied with a draw !
corkcelt on
We were never going to qualify from the group tonight, our 3 home home games should decide that. What we have done is greatly improve our chances. If we do end up tied with Ajax for second place we have an away point and two away goals to our credit. Nothing at all decided but nothing lost either. Hopefully the Molde result will stop our resident football experts from belittling teams like Molde, Malmo & Quarabag.
One other point. I thought that was Boyata’s best game for us. I should give him confidence.
