  1. Joe Filippis Haircut on

I dont want to get carried away with a draw away from home to the second top side in the Dutch league but I have been saying the panic after the Aberdeen which I believe was manufactured by the MSM was crazy.Ronny is rebuilding our back four and it is going to take games together to get a comfortable performing back four.He knows what he wants and will stick to his guns to achieve it and next season for the CL qualifyers we should have a settled back four and I really believe Ronny knows what he is doing. H.H.

  2. Problem I guess with Commons is that he’s in all likelihood in his last productive year, and maybe even then he’ll be struggling to have the same level of fitness.

I guess that’s why we brought in Allan (who it’s disappointing not to have seen more of but he hasn’t set the heather alight when he has been on) and Christie who I think has excellent vision, one thing we lack from the middle of the park.

Alternatively get a striker who can head the ball and rely more on cross balls.

  3. I heard he was dead on

I don’t think Izzy should have had a second yellow but he could have had one seconds earlier.

He played very well when he was on the pitch and should not be scapegoated for not getting a win.

He should be smarter in that situation and know that the crowd and their players know he’s on a yellow.

He will be a miss vs Fenerbache but if Celtic beat them it’s a chance to put them well on the back foot in the group.

Imagine if Celtic and Molde both go through.

    I’d like that.

Celtic and anyone except Ajax and then we can tell One’s called Ronald, one’s called Frank no one in Europe cares about Ajax anymore.

  4. sixtaeseven - Gardez la Foi on

“Celtic pegged back in Amsterdam” cries BBC Sport > Scotland > Football.

Aye right – why don’t they just say:

“Ajax thwarted by rugged efforts of stubborn team that somehow finished top of last season’s division that is, incredibly, ranked above THE SCOTTISH CHAMPIONSHIP.”

  5. Would have taken a draw before a ball was kicked away from home in the opening game v the top seeds – likewise when we were reduced to 10 men.

Pity for Izzy thought he had played well up to the red – maybe trying a bit too hard (proving his worth) and so justifying his return to the side. Both bookings typical of Italian refereeing.

Thought Criag a bit unlucky with their second – how many times have you seen a free-kick played in to the 6-yard box and everyone (defenders & attackers) all miss a great delivery. More often than not – the GK is caught flat footed and the ball ends up in the net and the taker gets credited with a great goal when in fact it was lucky.

Lustig a bit unfortunate – on the end of some rough treatment with little interest from the ref. Thought Efe acquitted himself well when he came on.

If Commons despite his pace is the brains (1st goal) then we can’t afford poor contributions from JF&JH – the team can only support one player who is not exactly workmanlike but makes a difference.

Overall a good position – 3 home wins will see us through to last 32.

Decidedly more happy than I was over the weekend and pre-match!

    H!H!

  6. STEBHOY on 17TH SEPTEMBER 2015 8:42 PM

also , why not play forrest on his favoured right side – would also have provided the protection and unfit lustig clearly needed . worried about our management team but desperately want them to succeed !

    =========================================================================

    Well done Celtic.

I too desperately want them ( RD et al ) to succeed but I worry when he says ” Jamesie did very well” that is not true, his contribution from an attacking sense made one opening LG should have converted, other than that watching him avoid getting involved was painful,I cannot see what this guy brings to the team,he neither consistently attacks and never defends, not just Ajax, every game,we cannot afford passengers,so from that standpoint I do not see what Ronnie see’s.

Compare the effort Johnny Hayes puts in for Aberdeen,90 mins non stop, reminds me of Johnny Doyle.

  7. the glorious balance sheet on

Good performance and fine result tonight which made a mockery of my prediction that we would get pumped 3-0.

If you watch the game back check the look that Broony gives izzy after he has been sent off. I would not want to be izzy having to face Broony in that dressing room at full time!

  8. What is indefensible in my opinion is the rush to rubbish Ronny as the worst celtic manager (since the last one) after a few bad results. You might think it and plenty have said it but do the rest of us need to hear it?

    HH

  9. I think some just have to whinge to be able to survive – I saw a Celtic team play as a team and fight all the way. I feckin hate negative keech.

Izzy? Playing the way everyone on here wanted yet he is panned for doing so?

    Such bollox.

Ronnie not only selected KC but stuck with him for 83 minutes – how many bullshit managers on here predicted that move from an imminently sackable manager?

Great result – of course disappointing when you are up and then reduced to 10 men – but short term memory folk remember we had no chance in this game.

But only if you read the crap that half-wit redtop slobs write.

Fener – good luck in 2 weeks – hope you find your own version of hell in Paradise . Another mega-expensive squad that isn’t a team? Lets hope so.

    Love Celtic.

Celtic have always been a selling club – Kenny dalglish, Lou macari, Davie hay and so on..so your point is?

Surely the Honourable John Reid was not being economical with the actualities when a few years ago he proclaimed that Celtic was not a selling club.

  11. 67HEAVEN .. CHALLENGING THE LIE ..I AM WEE OSCAR…… IPOX BELONGS TO THE CREDITORS on 17TH SEPTEMBER 2015 8:53 PM

I was at Pittodrie, we were critical before hearing or reading anything from the media. To suggest otherwise is lazy and implies that we’re too thick to come to our own conclusions.

Saturday was awful, tonight was very good.

  12. sixtaeseven - Gardez la Foi on

Craig Gordon is a very good keeper.

He could be a great one if he came out for crosses.

Aberdeen’s winner at the weekend, Ajax run of the mill free kick into the box tonight … ?

  13. Interesting shape to the group now, Ajax and Fenerbahçe going away from home really needing to take something, 3 home games coming up then Fenerbahçe,

Time to get this season started

Just to clarify that I keep asking you about Res 12 for one reason only…… You are one of the main ‘authors’ and I am anxious to find out what progress is being made …..you fought the doubters off (including me) in the early days, which is sincerely appreciated …. HH

  15. ELDIBHOY – Not for a footy blog , however i appreciate you keeping everyones grammar in check. I have high standards for a Celtic team and think we fall way short at the moment. I have high standards for how we conduct ourselves as Celtic bloggers and i now know you fall way short.

  16. Captain Beefheart on

    GBS,

Usually agree with most of what you write but…

May I ask why you predicted a hammering? ? Ajax have done hee haw this season.

Incidentally, that Ajax goalie was crap. 25 million? For him?

  17. Captain Beefheart on 17th September 2015 8:55 pm

We should be thanking the ref for not giving a handball pen.

    – ——————

The one where they showed the replay and Blcakett used his chest not arm?? Or are you thinking of another one?

  18. estorilbhoy…

I don’t think anyone is getting carried away with the result, more a case of we might be getting back on track.

I for one will be looking forward to rip the pish out of the huns tomorrow that wrote us off and punted on us getting beat.

Thems zombies are getting too big for their boots of late.

I realise we didn’t play them off the park but a result that will make me go to my kip happy.

I’m sure most that read the blog will feel the same way:))

  19. West End of East End on

Back to Basics – Glass Half Full – Stupid is as stupid does, how after watching that can you seriously come out with that pish, hun troll.

Ron67 – Yes, add 67 after your name and everyone will think you’re a Tim. You posted negative comments throughout the game, what’s it like being a hun watching the hoops ?

STEBHOY – I wouldn’t put you in the same class as the trolls above as I believe you are a good Celtic man, but winning on FIFA15 or Champ manager doesn’t qualify in the real world….

  20. Quonno

John Reid, Blair’s bootboy, a liar, how dare you question his integrity?

  21. Good result, great start to the competition. the team was disciplined and determined (I like that).

    Hail Hail.

    Hliriuaous :)

  23. BMCUW / Captain Beefheart,

    I was thinking the same.

    What handball, what penalty.

I can only think of one such occasion and the replay categorically showed that there was no handball.

    HH.

  24. 67

Rest assured my criticism of RD have absolutely nothing to do with anything that appears in the rags or radio but everything to do with having watched enough football at CP and elsewhere to know when I’m watching something good or something bad!

RD is just not a CFC class manager and should never have been given the job in the first place. My bigger criticism is of the people who placed him in the job!

    Well

Ajax – CL wins recently ?

They are not regarded as a BIG club now

History ? – yep just like my club

Anyway….i’m sure we have same aim

    Take care

Are you telling me the Scottish meeja don’t have an anti-all things Celtic Agenda, and that my contention that (too) many Celtic Supporters feed the agenda, is inaccurate.?

We all know that too many of the Celtic players’ minds at Pittodrie were on tonight’s game ….. not acceptable, but the meeja went way over the top with their crisis (and anti-Ronnie) shoite. Same old, same old, to try to destroy team / fan confidence…… And let’s be honest, it works these days, when it didn’t in my hey day….. OF COURSE YOU AND I CAN, AND WILL CRITICISE OUR TEAM, BUT THE MEEJA GO WAY OVER THE TOP, PURPOSELY …. HH
