  1. Sevconians at work were very cocky about us getting a real doing tonight. A view shared by most of the smsm, (shortbread, knock yerself out)

I would think all true Celtic supporters would feel pleased at drawing away to the current top team in the Dutch league.

The Huns will be fair gutted.

  2. macjay1 for Neil Lennon on

    Just awoke.

Followed the game on C.Q.N. live updates,

    Great result.

    Particularly under the circumstances.

  3. Observations, not having read back since full time….

    1. If we had lost 3-1 at home to Molde, there would be a f*cking riot right about now.

    2. If I’ an Ajax fan, my thoughts are “we would never have beaten them if they handy had the guy sent off”

    3. Our discipline really worries me just now. We have a streak of petulance in the team that will cost us. Johansson’s booking tonight was pathetic. Izzy had another foul after he was booked, then kicked the ball away. We need to wise up.

    4. We got a good point and some co-efficient points tonight. Happy with that.

  4. Good performance.

Izzy’s first booking wasn’t even a foul. But sadly he then did enough afterwards to enable the ref to send him off. Marred an excellent performance by the wee mhan.

I too saw the look on broonie’s face though young Scott is hardly blameless when it comes to red mist errors of judgement.

Efe. Well done big fella. Simple, safe, effective.

I’m perhaps unusual in having quite polarised views on Commons. Undoubted skill, vision and touch. No pace, limited endurance. I think he was on a touch too long but certainly showed the class he can bring.

I get WGS and posters commenting on how their 2nd goal came from an ‘undefendable’ cross. Me? I’m just sick of losing goals from scenarios that I’d never expect us to score from.

I’m disappointed we only drew against the top seeded team in their backyard. That must be a good sign.

    HH jamesgang

PS memo to self. Don’t try watchin’ fitba in the presence of four 10 y/o bhoys. Farting, cavorting, giggling, wrestling, pain in the erchie maniacs!!!

  5. So we’ve just got a credible away result in Europe and we’re 2 points better off after 7 games than last season.

Sounds like a decent start to me.

  6. More than pleased with the result .

The shape of the team when not in possession was more pragmatic than

    recently when in Europe.

Hopefully we are learning to kill space, and

with Bitton especially , keeping the ball

    for longer when in possession.

Not the time to be picking individual faults.

The team achieved a good result.

    It’s what we hoped for.

“Surely the Honourable John Reid was not being economical with the actualities when a few years ago he proclaimed that Celtic was not a selling club.”

I could not remember any such quote- do you have a source? All I could find that was close to what you are asserting was the quote below- which really does not support the assertion you made. John Reid said:-

“The people who decide whether we will sell players or buy players are the management and the board, who are accountable to the fans and shareholders. Not some anonymous director of a bank.”

I don’t agree at all, I’m afraid…… Any Celtic manager is going to get it tight from that lot and if you can’t see the destructive agenda, then fine ….I respect but don’t agree with your opinion

  9. West End of East End on 17th September 2015 9:09 pm

Ron67 – Yes, add 67 after your name and everyone will think you’re a Tim. You posted negative comments throughout the game, what’s it like being a hun watching the hoops

Because I tell it as it is and others do not , does not make me one of them.

  10. Well, that could have been worse! I felt the three points were safe until Izzy’s amateur lunge. If we all knew he couldn’t survive another stupid lunge WHY DIDN’T HE – an experienced international defender?

He cost us two points there. i would drop him now until after the next EL game – albeit we’re talking about a rookie replacement who has so far shown nothing.

Overall, really pleased with the effort but we still don’t do ourselves justice.

I worry too about RD. When taking off KC would it not have been better to put Cifti up front and move Griff back so that when Gordon lumped the ball upfield there would be a chance of keeping the ball up there for more than 30 seconds.

When Izzy went off the equalizer was almost inevitable. I’m just relieved we didn’t lose all three points.

The Molde result suggests that this really is going to be a group of death.

Are you telling me the Scottish meeja don’t have an anti-all things Celtic Agenda, and that my contention that (too) many Celtic Supporters feed the agenda, is inaccurate.?

We all know that too many of the Celtic players’ minds at Pittodrie were on tonight’s game ….. not acceptable, but the meeja went way over the top with their crisis (and anti-Ronnie) shoite. Same old, same old, to try to destroy team / fan confidence…… And let’s be honest, it works these days, when it didn’t in my hey day….. OF COURSE YOU AND I CAN, AND WILL CRITICISE OUR TEAM, BUT THE MEEJA GO WAY OVER THE TOP, PURPOSELY …. HH

    —–

That wasn’t my point mate. Your initial post stated that any criticism of Celtic by Celtic supporters is media driven, that’s simply not true.

I do think you need to realise that measured criticism is understandable and meaningful, both of the team and the performance of our board.

So long as it’s genuine it is only a difference of opinion.

  12. 67heaven..,

We’ve got a lawyer ready to question their refusal to respond to our concerns, they’ve told us they don’t deal with anonymous dissidents then told us they only respond to member clubs, we reckon being shareholders we fit the bill, we’ll see :)

It’s unusual for you to ask that off the back of a positive post by me :), happy to blurt it out, no sure if I’ve over stepped the mark but there you have it.

  15. Loving the media attempts to find whatever negative they can from a very positive Scottidh performance in Europe.

As for the malcontents, if you look hard enough there is plenty for you to go at in Celtics game tonight so I am sure you can enjoy your evening too.

  16. Captain Beefheart on

I stand corrected if it wasn’t a penalty huddle and greenpinata.

Sipsini, they haven’t played anyone thus far. Celts should win in Glasgow but pray for a Mulgrew return. Blackett won’t do.

  17. See some having a go at RD for not seeing that Izzy was a risk after 1st yellow.

FFS ,Izzy should see that another dive in leaves him looking at possible red.A seasoned international pro,he should know.No wonder Broony gave him the stare.

I’d go further on Izzy, I’d drop him till his ban is up, probably about two games, then select him again :)

I hear what you’re saying on this Ajax side not being world beaters but I think they’re miles better than Malmo, guys like schone and Fischer would walk into that Malmo team any day.

So my worry was that with better players middle to front, Ajax could give us far more of a going over than Malmo. As it turned out I was wrong. Tonight was a huge improvement on Malmo and if we can sort out the odd rush of blood to the head moment (izzy/ Lustig diving into challenges) then we can hopefully turn draws into wins in this group

  22. Adi

They are a big club, not the biggest financially, and Dutch football except, errm presently, consistently punches above weight so any result against them away from home, is a GOOD result IMO.

Imagine if the current Scottish premiership leaders had achieved this result, how the entirety of Scottish football fraternity would have reacted?

Perspective is often lacking including by celts but your point had validity, I just don’t agree!

  24. Good result. Great result in fact as you could sense the headlines of doom were already written.

The Molde result blows the group wide open. I dread to think what Fenerbace Quick News is like right now…

PS – Happy Dodged-A-Bullet-Day for tomorrow!!!

  25. Celtic may not always hit the heights we would like but even when we don’t we are still capable of getting results. We have lost 3 significant games in the last 9 months (excluding the Milan game). Against ICT, Malmo and Aberdeen an inexplicable refereeing decision contributed significantly to the result.

Managers jobs and reputations turn on these decisions hopefully Ronnie will see a turn around in these things in the next 9 months. (No sniggering at the back now) :)

  26. West End of East End on

Tom English on Twitter during the game, his one and only comment throughout the 90 + 5 minutes….we know where we stand with the SMSM…

You’ve got to be joking me. Ridiculous goal to give away. Beyond ridiculous. Celtic hanging on to a point for grim life

  27. Judester

Of course Izzy should have screwed the bobbin and not got involved but the manager was only feet away from him -you could tell from the TV close up pictures that Izzy had “gone” – the manager should have subbed him and done the professional thing of being pro- active rather than yet again waiting for something to happen before he takes action!

    67

You would have to be deaf, dumb and blind not to see the press campaign against our club. However that does not mean we should go along with things if we think there are things going wrong. That’s what the dead Huns did and look how they ended up!

    HH

  28. Huge positives all of the park tonight though If only we could defend cross balls better we’d be in business.

Gordon is suspect & has been most of his career but he’s not being helped by the two Center Backs who consistently misjudge the flight of the ball. Simunovic is just in the door so hopefully he’s better in the air than he showed tonight. It’s saying something that our best header of a ball tonight was Efe when he came on.
