Ajer, alleged serious organised crime for SFA to consider

426

There’s always some excitement when a player arrives at Lennoxtown with the intent of giving the club a look at his wares. 17-year-old Norwegian midfielder, Kristoffer Ajer, did exactly that yesterday, ahead of what we hope is a busy transfer window.

I’m pleased Ronny is scouting a market he knows well, and that we are looking to recruit below-radar players with potential. It’s also good to have prospects play training games with the squad ahead of any decision. It’s too easy to make multi-year mistakes but Kristoffer will be measured against the first team squad, and the Development Squad.

One of Celtic’s perennial failures is our inability to promote the country’s best youth talent into top professionals. Before Rangers liquidation we were involved in an all-or-nothing arms race. Every game was precious so the prospect of allowing youth players time to develop in the professional game was seen as a luxury too far.

With the greatest respect to our current rivals (including Newco, should our paths meet in the Scottish Cup), those competitive pressures have now eased. Ronny can afford to take a different view of team development. Until August, anyway.

I know what you’re thinking. You read the charges laid out at some of the characters involved with Rangers, old and new, and thought: haven’t Craig Whyte and Charles Green suffered enough? Surely calls for due process to be fulfilled are nothing short of bigoted rants? These men made their mistakes and have come through the mill, they should be allowed to get on with their lives!

Aye, I know, it’s a ridiculous suggestion.

The charge list includes “fraud, conspiracy and serious organised crime”, which is a Sword of Damocles hanging over Ibrox. No current Newco directors were involved in the criminality which is alleged to have facilitated the club’s setup, but that won’t change what happens in the event charges are upheld.

I’m sure the SFA are pondering the scope of punishment appropriate for this scenario.  Irrespective of team loyalties, such is the seriousness of the alleged offenses they will be praying for not guilty verdicts.

Please note that all men charged are innocent until and unless proven otherwise and are entitled to a fair trial unprejudiced by public comment and desist from inappropriate comment.

If you have two minutes, take a look at Steven Donnell’s page here. He’s currently cycling round the Premiership’s 12 grounds to raise money for Accord Hospice in Paisley. In minging weather. With his dad, who is blind.

  1. A nice jovial post for the morning ;)

Comparing a lone deranged lunatic in Brevik to a mass death cult that uses a religion for motivation is ludicrous. One man against conservatively tens of 000’s of radical Islamic murderers + many, many more sympathisers, how exactly does that equate in your mind? Take your heads out the sand FFS! Our collective way of life is under attack from an ideology so warped that it doesn’t discriminate against one group or one religion, no it’s goal is to murder all of us.

You think this ideology is restricted to a few maniacs wielding swords & lobbing off heads in Iraq & Syria? Well think again. This ideology has been present for thousands of years & only with advances in technology it’s become more sophisticated & widepread. This terror is now global it is living amongst us everyday & most likely in frightening numbers. Everyone must be vigilant but especially those within the Muslim community. I.S sympathisers don’t pray or preach in Synogogue or Church no they prey on the vulnerable within their own communities. Communities in many cases who have chosen to separate themselves from the wider population.

SFTB pointing out Muslim leaders forcefully condemning I.S. & its insane ideology. This is welcomed but as a whole they need to do more in identifying the threat within. I.S & similar thinking groups are thriving & may eventually win because of our ridiculous political correctness. The Nazi’s were allowed to rampage & murder millions because so many chose to ignore the threat within & were afraid to identify it. This is a very different threat but reacting in the same way in keeping schtum or as some like to do in engaging in whataboutery is utter madness.

Wake up & smell the coffee this Evil doesn’t care if you’re politically correct or not or if you have a guilty conscience. They will kill or convert you just the same.

Thanks. The Irish connection rings a bell. Old SNP ?

If you were serious about your French, ernie`s comment just meant the more things change, the more they remain the same.

It’s a paraphrase of something Prof. Andrew Dewar Gibb KC (who was a founder member of the SNP) had to say about Irish immigrants in Scotland.

‘Sevco have opened talks with Jason Holt, Andy Halliday and Barrie McKay in a bid to tie the star trio down on improved Ibrox deals’.

We moved to Hamilton in 1970 and the upstairs neighbours came out with their weans to see us from the top of the stairs, ma Da’ said hello and went inside and she said ” awe naw they’re Irish, that’s the close ruined”

I noticed recently…that when the top man of ISIS made an appeal to Muslims to join the Jihad against the infidels.

Some Muslims twittered him back…one lad said he couldnt join the jihad, because he wanted to see the new Star Wars movie:)

I’d avoid this conversation if I were you. EL can’t accept that the SNP has evolved and current leaders have different views to those that founded the party in the last century.

Does anyone know if the sainted £6.5m came with a condition that £5m of it was ringfenced to repay Sports Direct? If King raised it for that purpose and told the lenders that’s what it was to be used for, you’d think – given King’s past shameless glibness – that those lenders would have sought at least some sort of letter of comfort.

So, are we in some sort of fiscal limbo where the declined and conditional £5m floats in the ether, unwanted by Sports Direct and untouchable by the current incarnation of Sevco?

Or is the Sevco cashflow requirement from now till the end of the season secure?

I do hope it’s the former!

A letter of comfort from GASL?

Surely that’s the equivalent of your doctor saying “ehh, you’ve got 24hrs to live….. but I meant to tell you yesterday”.

I honestly wondered who would be the first to suggest that! I certainly did not think it would be you.

Valid though your point is, I believe that it (Celtic`s `response` ) comes after the Scottish Establishment`s refusal so is an added factor rather than the original cause.

Anyway, does one sentence constitute a ` Discuss.` response? 0:-)

CQN was setup to educate the faithful in all things financial regarding the PLC.

I personally don’t buy it. It was setup to inform the faithful about the financial demise of Rangers.

When the 5 way agreement raised it´s ugly head and then CQN became instantaneously a Labatomised Virtual Celtic View it has been all downhill ever since … with regards content.

  21. Just back fae the messages…..

The custodians of the club, sold our souls when the meekly went with their tails between their legs to a govt-summit after the shame game were, Celtic had 3 players booked.

At that point….the establishment knew that Celtic FC was a house of cards and, the only danger that the establishment would face from Celtic would be if, the fans saw through this meek surrendering of souls and, organised and then, rebelled against the board who sold them out.

But, it looks like the ship full of rebellious Celtic fans….didn’t set sail.

    Is it too late ?

I don’t know the answer to that but, what I do know is…that its time for me to watch HebCelts BBC Alba stuff.

    …..laters…..

  22. Aw Naw sorry cannot agree with your analysis of CQN far too simplistic – which must be a first for you!! H H Hebcelt

  23. There is a long list of potential factors that could be blamed for perceived decline:

    – Mistrust of the the board

    – An unclear direction and set of goals at club level – is anyone actually 100% clear on what we are trying to achieve?

    – A team that is in the doldrums at a European level

    – SFA corruption wrt the RFC scandal(s), and the lack of any public position from the board

    – Too much focus on Sevco

    – CQN moving away from it’s original form

I’m not suggesting that these are the factors, just that some might feel any one or more of these factors to be true. I think the blog is a force for good on many levels and I wouldn’t necessarily say it is in decline.

I agree with the points that the referendum and the GE2015 were damaging to the atmosphere.
