Ajer, alleged serious organised crime for SFA to consider

426

There’s always some excitement when a player arrives at Lennoxtown with the intent of giving the club a look at his wares. 17-year-old Norwegian midfielder, Kristoffer Ajer, did exactly that yesterday, ahead of what we hope is a busy transfer window.

I’m pleased Ronny is scouting a market he knows well, and that we are looking to recruit below-radar players with potential. It’s also good to have prospects play training games with the squad ahead of any decision. It’s too easy to make multi-year mistakes but Kristoffer will be measured against the first team squad, and the Development Squad.

One of Celtic’s perennial failures is our inability to promote the country’s best youth talent into top professionals. Before Rangers liquidation we were involved in an all-or-nothing arms race. Every game was precious so the prospect of allowing youth players time to develop in the professional game was seen as a luxury too far.

With the greatest respect to our current rivals (including Newco, should our paths meet in the Scottish Cup), those competitive pressures have now eased. Ronny can afford to take a different view of team development. Until August, anyway.

I know what you’re thinking. You read the charges laid out at some of the characters involved with Rangers, old and new, and thought: haven’t Craig Whyte and Charles Green suffered enough? Surely calls for due process to be fulfilled are nothing short of bigoted rants? These men made their mistakes and have come through the mill, they should be allowed to get on with their lives!

Aye, I know, it’s a ridiculous suggestion.

The charge list includes “fraud, conspiracy and serious organised crime”, which is a Sword of Damocles hanging over Ibrox. No current Newco directors were involved in the criminality which is alleged to have facilitated the club’s setup, but that won’t change what happens in the event charges are upheld.

I’m sure the SFA are pondering the scope of punishment appropriate for this scenario.  Irrespective of team loyalties, such is the seriousness of the alleged offenses they will be praying for not guilty verdicts.

Please note that all men charged are innocent until and unless proven otherwise and are entitled to a fair trial unprejudiced by public comment and desist from inappropriate comment.

If you have two minutes, take a look at Steven Donnell’s page here. He’s currently cycling round the Premiership’s 12 grounds to raise money for Accord Hospice in Paisley. In minging weather. With his dad, who is blind.

We are absolutely fine, and healthy. Our wee tup is not so wee now, but what a pet. Visitors are amased at us asking him for a kiss, and he does the business. Bring them up like a dog, and they believe they are one. Lol. Hope you’re well ” B”. See you soon. HH

Sometimes when I’m in Glasgow visiting my best mate I sometimes visit the Gurdwara Sikh temple. I’m a tight b@@@rd and the opportunity of free Asian food is always welcome.

I’ve made a few, well 4, guys that I now recognise and we are able to chat when we meet, just like CQN corner in a way but with free food.

Anyway these guys are really concerned about how these “grooming trials” are having an effect on race relations in Glasgow and other Scottish cities.

Just think how we hate huns who try to portray all Celtic fans as paedophiles, don’t fall into the same trap friends.

  4. Every clubs fans have whipping boys to blame.

When that club is not playing well then the boos and cat calls get more pronounced wether the individual deserves or not.

It’s illogical at times as is the notion that some players will never be criticised no matter how poorly they play.

I strangely never felt the adoration of Paul McStay.

He had world class skills but lacked a soccer brain.

I have a few distinct memories of him one being the time he got injured in pre season and we started first 6 games with Fulton and Collins and got off to a great start.

When his injury cleared he returned at expense of Fulton and we stuttered through the season.

It was not solely McStays fault as i just felt him and Collins were not a good partnership as they often were to close together and ran in to each other’s space.

One other game i remember was a cup game against Motherwell when Walker scored twice to bring well back from 2-0 deficit.McStay was culpable for second. He never got pelters but his brother Willy at right back was the whipping boy.We did win 3-2 though. Those round about me gave his brother dogs abuse all night but threatened to lynch me when i pointed out it was Paul who gave away a bad ball for second.

The present team i think Ciftci receives unfair criticism as the service to strikers is non existent.

Bitton i think is over rated and a huge reason for our lack of forward movement.

    Guess it’s all about opinions.

Eddie at 10.32 , Sanjeev Kohli had a programme on the BBC last year about his life being brought up in Glasgow.

He was a lapsed Sikh but visited the newly built Gurdwara , just off Eglington Street, as part of the programme.. He enjoyed the warm welcome he received and others received also. It looked as lovely a building inside as it does outside.

Im glad my wife never saw the programme, she would have us down there every weekend if she knew about the free food.

Sanjeev attended St Aloysius’ College. That vanguard bear crew , in their twisted minds, would probably say Catholic schools will accept non-christians rather protestant unionist loyalists.

  6. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Fanatic, I used have videos with the highlights of our games in the late eighties and early nineties, i got rid of them years ago unfortunately. From around 1989 – 1991, the amount of goals set up by Steve Fulton , was more than I thought he had. Through balls, crosses ,corners or free kicks, the lot. He was a very good passer of the ball.

John Collins wanted to play centrally but was more effective in a wider position and he scored more goals coming in from the wing.

His and Paul’s best game together was when we beat the dead club at Ibrox. They ran the horribles’ midfield ragged.

Good night all and sleep well.

    HT,

I understand it won’t be easy, but, as TET said, there is the common ground that effects all clubs.

While the FAC initiative is also important, it is really a political issue and, right or wrong, is possibly perceived to be our problem. Political inasmuch as one Party, who happen to be in a majority Government, own it. That has to be dealt with at the ballot box or City Hall.

The other issue is a football one and there is one example of common ground.

I think before any statements or declarations of intent are issued, it would be vital to talk with the other affected parties and try and reach a consensus.

I would perhaps start with Aberdeen, the next biggest club in the country, who have already voiced their concerns and have in the past asked for support for their “Fans For Change”campaign.

I honestly feel that so much time as been lost already.

As far as our own club is concerned. Evidence that Club groups were actively pursuing an anti SFA/SPFL campaign would not be lost in them.

Personally, and I admit that it wouldn’t affect me as much, as I don’t attend many games now; But I don’t know how I would feel standing or sitting at Parkhead(CP), knowing that the football authorities were laughing at us and watching us eat up the gruel that they doled out.

Last chance saloon, lads and remember, the customer is always right. you have the power.

    ——–

Apologies, I had to go out and it took much longer than expected.

I need to disagree with your first point Tom. The OBaF Act is very much a football issue. I know I have a vested interest but this is a huge issue which has resulted in the criminalisation of only one section of society. After a great deal of ‘encouragement’ Celtic released a statement last year stating ‘reservations’ about the Act. It was weaker than we’d hoped for but the board should be commended for making it. That statement came about through dialogue.

Maybe they could be ‘encouraged’ to make a similar statement on this?

A lot of the problem I believe is that supporters in general are happy enough to thump away on keyboards but it’s an entirely different matter when it comes to following those views up with action.

My own opinion is that it’s the clubs themselves who should be leading the charge but as I’ve long said, alas, that will never happen.

I also think that the time for action was when Sevco were granted a license OR after the ongoing appeal has been heard. That’s why I have no issues with Celtic saying nothing just now.

    Would I support action/boycott?

Yes, but my opinion remains the same. I have huge reservations on whether it would be workable and what effect it would have.

I’m also, in my own head, unsure of what we’d actually be looking to achieve. If this was to be proposed it would be imperative that we have set targets and achievable goals. Anything else would be pissing in the wind.

    Thanks for your honest answers.

    HT,

Quick reply to your point of disagreement.

The OBaF Act was passed by the Scottish Assembly, not the SFA.

This, in my mind makes it a political issue and not a football one, even though it is exclusively football fans who are affected.

The reason for my opinion is that the Act can only be repealed by the Assembly, not the SFA.

  10. I think the OBAF act is sillier than a silly walk in a Monty Python Lumberjack song….

    Hoŵever…

More people in Scotland support it than oppose it……

    Democracy is a bitch,ey?

  11. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

    PS,

The aim of a combined support initiative would be to cleanse the SFA and hold them to account.

That is the ultimate power of the customers(fans).

  12. HT

    If I may interject

What are we trying to achieve ?

I would have thot the answer was obvious….A LEVEL PLYING FIELD, is that not what sport is all about after all ?

We always thot we were cheated, now we know for sure we have been, so we need to do something about it, NO.

I honestly would find it hard to attend a game today knowing what we now know, they are laughing at us, mug Tims, and we are, aye we can bash the keyboard to beat the band to what end ?

The club at this time, and in reality never have been, are not our enemy, the powers are, sort them, and the club can and will fall into place imo, they would have no other option.

    Fight the real enemy.

    HH

I knew Charlie quite well, what can you tell me about him that I don’t already know ?

He was an honest corrupt politico imo, more honest than what the brits were producing at the time, tell me something that will shock me, tell me something that will tell the world that Charlie or Dermot for that matter is worse that anything that britland has and will produce.

Take your time and think about it, wouldn’t want you to get it wrong now would we.

  15. I like Emeralds, no, I love Emeralds, they are special, they are green, they are the most beautiful stone that the planet produces imo.

They remind me of Celtic, why no idea but they do.

  19. RYE

So tell me again what have they done that is worse that britland has done, simple question, you are telling me that Charlie and Dermo are scallywags, and sure they are, are not all those in power te same ?

What have they done that is worse than the killing that the brits have done ?

What have they done, especially in regards to Charlie that haven’t helped his people, aye Charlie made a few bob out of ireland, but in the process he gave the Irish people a standing in the world, he gave them hope, false maybes, but he gave them something to dream about.

Ireland was on it’s knees, he built the financial centre, he told the world it was open for business, welcome the Celtic Tiger, there have been many worse than Charlie.

And he told Maggie to GTF, that was the best thing he ever did, he called her bluff, she caved in like the scum brit she was.

Go on Enlighten me please how they are worse than the brits you love so well.
