Another year, another damaging SFA leaked email

361

The Scottish FA has an interesting history of leaked emails.  I hear.  Today’s presentation, by that persistent thorn in the side of those who would rather awkward questions were not asked, Alex Thomson of Channel 4 News, is surely a contender for Leaked Email of the Season.

The critical words, written by SFA chief exec Stewart Regan on 23 June to various people, read:

“In parallel to the above, could Rod Petrie please brief Charles Green confidentially..”

So on 23 June, Petrie and Regan were on the onside with a plan to “gain buy-in to the plan” from SFL clubs to parachute Sevco into the First Division, and the SFA chief exec had instructed that the chief exec of Sevco was “confidentially” instructed on this plan.

On 24 June Rod Petrie’s Hibernian took plaudits for their statement of intent to reject Sevco’s application to the SPL, adding that “This re-affirms the view of the Board that the sporting integrity of the SPL is of paramount importance”.

Petrie and Regan are on the main Scottish FA board, along with former Rangers director Campbell Ogilvie (president), Alan McRae (vice-president – although I don’t think that means he is in charge of vice), Ralph Topping, Tom Johnston and Barrie Jackson.

It is no wonder our earlier calls for resignations have been echoed by SFL chairmen today.  Sack the lot of them, I’d say.

  1. Now the beeb dahn saff has taken to referring to ‘them’ as ‘Newco Rangers’.

I would scream at them, but it’s a pointless exercise…..like howling at the wall.

With regards to Rod Petrie sneaking around

I was puzzled when, after the sevco application for SPL membership was roundly kicked out, that Charles Green claimed to have been tipped off that there was a chance of SPL membership. It now looks as if Rod Petrie was the tipster

Incidentally Charles green also claimed after the CVA rejection that he was given a tip off that the CVA would be accepted? I wonder who gave him that tip off. I wouldn’t like to think it was a politician or government employee..

I’m Neil Lennon (tamrabam) – I hope Charlie didn’t put big money on a horse after speaking to that tipster. (thumbsup)

  6. I wonder what sort of pies and what sort of sandwiches the buffet has on offer. I bet there is a gaggle of chairmen right at this moment wondering the same, only more than me.

Come on guys – aye or nay – it really is that easy. I’m getting tired.

I tried to phone, several times, to pass on my best wishes but could not get through. Have you left the phone off the hook?

    A couple of random thoughts…

    1. I hope that some of those SFL chairmen have their smartphones on and are getting wind of Regan’s scurrilous e-mail.

    2. Who the hell leaked the e-mail? …and why?

Auld Neil Lennon heid – Aye, can’t see that the Celtic board has done anything wrong.

They seem to be criticised by some for what they haven’t said or done (an easy criticism to make when one doesn’t share their burden of responsibility), or for what they might have hypothetically done in secret, even though there’s no evidence for them having in fact done so.

Maybe we should stop fretting over unknown unknowns and lend them a bit of faith?

Faith isn’t a naive or foolish thing, indeed our club was founded on faith, love, and charity. (thumbsup)

ArranmoreBhoyLXV11 – John Terry & the tax dodging bigots getting done on the same day …

John Terry is innocent till proven guilty.

The huns, on the other hand, are definitely guilty of not paying their taxes and other debts, which is why Sevco exists. (thumbsup)

    Miki67,

With a bit of luck, they’ll be refering to them as Neuked Rangers in a wee while…

Do you think they’l send Ally out to Greggs with the lunch money?

Do you think he’ll go back?

They might send Ally out to Greggs with the Greegs money- hold on, they’re not getting any.

“FF inmates resigned to accept any eventuality. Makes you wonder if there are any policemen in Scotland:”

They are full of wind. Remember all the talk about marching (which they do well, to be fair) to Hampden on the day of the Scottish Cup final?

Sounded like a good idea to many of them, but when the day came they were still sitting at their computers fuming (which they also do well, to be fair).

As someone posted earlier, there are about 25 of them outside Hampden today – says it all really.

I hope Glasgow’s finest are ready for, what was it (?) social unrest?

    How quaint.

  16. The Chief Executive said: “We are fully aware of our supporters´ concerns regarding the current situation across Scottish football and the breadth of opinion within our supporter base.

“The issues are complex and there is much uncertainty. Indeed, the situation repeatedly changes, even on a daily basis. I am sure our supporters understand that these developments are receiving our full focus and attention.

“Our guiding principle is that we will do what is in the best interests of Celtic Football Club and our supporters, consistent with upholding the interests and reputation of Scottish football.

“I can also give an assurance that we will communicate further and directly with our supporters at the appropriate time.

One man’s ‘appropriate’ is a Monday whilst another man’s ‘appropriate’ is not.

Whatever is in the heart of the Celtic board, it will shadow them to their graves. I hope their guiding principles are more moral than coin.

I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.
