Another year, another damaging SFA leaked email

361

The Scottish FA has an interesting history of leaked emails.  I hear.  Today’s presentation, by that persistent thorn in the side of those who would rather awkward questions were not asked, Alex Thomson of Channel 4 News, is surely a contender for Leaked Email of the Season.

The critical words, written by SFA chief exec Stewart Regan on 23 June to various people, read:

“In parallel to the above, could Rod Petrie please brief Charles Green confidentially..”

So on 23 June, Petrie and Regan were on the onside with a plan to “gain buy-in to the plan” from SFL clubs to parachute Sevco into the First Division, and the SFA chief exec had instructed that the chief exec of Sevco was “confidentially” instructed on this plan.

On 24 June Rod Petrie’s Hibernian took plaudits for their statement of intent to reject Sevco’s application to the SPL, adding that “This re-affirms the view of the Board that the sporting integrity of the SPL is of paramount importance”.

Petrie and Regan are on the main Scottish FA board, along with former Rangers director Campbell Ogilvie (president), Alan McRae (vice-president – although I don’t think that means he is in charge of vice), Ralph Topping, Tom Johnston and Barrie Jackson.

It is no wonder our earlier calls for resignations have been echoed by SFL chairmen today.  Sack the lot of them, I’d say.

    TET,

as far as I’m concerned its a result for our old firm fans.

as long as the hundead have any place, the authorities will favour them.

It seems many are happy with IMO a slap on the wrist and just continue to accept corruption.

Div 3 was the best that was on offer.

This time last year, the prospect of talking about that would have had you certified.

You know that they would never die a death, div 3 is better than most would have dreamed of.

    Let their humilation begin.

‘RANGERS’ future remains uncertain after the Scottish Football League clubs voted against the Light Blues playing in the First Division next season.

At a meeting at Hampden today, the 30 member clubs agreed to accept Rangers into the SFL but voted against the SFL Board being allowed to broker a deal with the SPL and SFA over new structures and procedures which would also include Rangers playing in Division One.

It is now understood that on the back of a briefing SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster and SFA counterpart Stewart Regan gave to clubs last week that the SPL will introduce a plan for SPL 2 – which would include Rangers – and invite existing Division One members to join.’

Well done to everyone involved in this and this includes all fans.

  10. Ghuys,

I believe today’s vote is in fact a disgrace.

Stranraer were the only club who got it right, submit an application like the other clubs.

You can argue that of the options the MSM were pushing Div1 or Div3 , today is a good result , however new co , given its outrageous behaviour (even just last year) should never be let near organised professional sport.

I suspect the non-league clubs ‘know’ that if they take up a legal case then bang goes any hope of entry into a revised league next year or the year after ……. ….. next stage the AT MUST now sit and expel ‘Rangers’ because hey that is what they are calling themselves, ‘Rangers’

    get a move on Regan.

However, the SFA and Regan will now deflect and state that the New club cannot be punished for the acts of the old club, what is the point of wasting valuable money on expensive lawyers (is there any other kind) and therefore all investigations are now cancelled……….

…. collision course with Celtic will be inevitable if this is their next move….

today is an act of blind faith by the SFL that newco can actually start and finish the season, what have they been told about the extent of the SFA sanctions being passed onto the newco , or is that an act of blind faith as well.

Regan and Doncaster will not be there long enough to introduce SPL2 and, anyway, it would be even lower in the integrity stage ……… As I said afew nights ago, the SFL Clubs to stand firmly together on this ‘invitation’ .

This is a sport where promotion is determined on performance / results….

The silence from our board concerns me although I do trust the board.
