  1. Vogue – Micky Stewart’s alright for a jambo. He is what he is. He does what he does. All pundits have their flaws – like critics, they are guys who sit in unqualified judgement of others doing jobs they can’t do.

  2. The referee was woeful. Gave us nothing and no protection for Roberts constantly being fouled.

Good performance but please cut out the slack passing and free headers in the box.

Murdo MacLeod, seemed to think we had a problem as we had a ‘massive’ game on Saturday. Richard Gordon basically told him he was taking nonsense.

  3. Good result for the Ghood Ghuys…………………

    :)))))))))))

Delighted for Brendan ‘n’ The Bhoys……………………………

Still in it, an’ can still win it……

It’s good to be a Tim.

Totally professional performance from the Scottish champions to secure a crucial away draw in a tie which is vital in terms of European participation this coming season.

Having lost the early goal, to a set piece.. – be it zonal or man marking… The keeper at fault… A good delivery… A well taken finish… – whatever. This did not allay the fears already established going into this match.

Did we buckle like we have done so many times before? No.

Did many of our own support expect us to? Probably… Carlsberg… Yes.

Was efe being lined up as the scapegoat? With many too willing to jump on that bandwagon? Who knows.

    Anyway…

We regrouped, got the shape and the game plan back and… Professionally stuck to the task. We contained a dangerous opponent, playing in front of what looked like a full and passionate home crowd and kept ourselves in the game.

The refereeing was more than questionable at times. They knew the bounce of their pitch (which even caught a few of their own players out in the 2nd half) would favour them. They were a tough, well organised, physical opponent… Well into their season. Whilst we’re still in pre season, with a new manager, injuries to key players, a bloated squad and an excellent manager. Could he make the difference?

For me he did. He played and had faith in the youngsters, who never let him down. In fact, they excelled. He made the right subs at the right time that closed out, whilst pressuring the game.

Maybe, just maybe the naysayers need to take a step back. Maybe, just maybe the board have appointed a top level coach… They have.

Maybe, just maybe we have finally realised the error of our ways. We are not building for this year’s CL, to get there is a bonus. To get to the europa is the target… Or should be. We are building for long term; sustainable and competitive football in a challenging period of time where ££££ out weighs talent.

My thoughts are escaping me now… It’s always been a feature of CQN that I can’t type as fast as I think and often when I do my thoughts get mixed up and I forget the point… Ha ha. The board are not all bad. They deserve some slack… We get it from all quarters and we know that. Tims who add fuel to this fire often irk me.

Going to bed a happy happy Tim tonight…

I have hope in my heart and I’ll walk on. KTF as one of our more gentlemanly posters often says.

I’d have hooked Armstrong & McGregor at half time but you’re bang on. Great to see the manager making proactive & effective changes. Makes a change :)

BR on Eoghan O’Connell: “Thought he was outstanding as a young player coming into that environment. Proud of him and the young players.”

  7. Well done Brendan and the boys, all things considered that’s a great result.

Managed to catch a few quick looks at work: from what I could see we were decent in possession, especially first 20, but then did our usual kamikaze act of gifting the opposition the softest of goals.

Second half seemed better. Roberts delivered an outstanding performance – brave and effective. Didn’t see enough to pass judgement on anyone else, but I’m glad Efe seems to have had a decent game. You could sense the pencils being sharpened just for him…

Dembele needs a goal for his confidence. Think he looks a bit slow to react – maybe rustiness, hope so.

Caught first 20 odd minutes on MW radio with oor Murdo and some hun,

    ………………………………………………………………………………………………pure p*sh :O(

  9. Ziggy – surely a glamour home game against burnley would have been better for us. The risk of jet lag and really fit pampered guys with a dedicated team of fitness experts, physios, masseuses, too notch facilities being knackered next Wednesday after a game less than an hours flight away in a top stadium, really is too much. What were Celtic thinking when they organised a game against one of europes top teams when they could have sorted out a game at home against a team from England who have never ever played in Europe.

    Yeah, murdo is a visionary.

Good result, can’t wait for next week. Wee Paddy and the Griff, just brilliant!

  11. Brendan on Kolo’s fitness:

“He’s at a decent level of fitness and has worked in the off-season. So after a good week’s training this week and some game-time at the weekend I would expect him to play some part next week.”

    The Gibraltar game?

Nobody performed to an acceptable level & if you believe the reports he was nursing a hip injury.

No reason not to believe he had a knock. Unless you’ve heard something different?

    —————————–

Heard nothing different mo chara. I’m just delighted the subs worked.

We got out of jail with a mistake or two but fantastic come back.

Stewarts a manky hun but not the worse.

  14. 50 shades of green on

Twas good to see Brendan change things in the second half as Astana looked to be pushing us further and further back.

Always good to have a plan B up your sleave.

As for Moussa not jumping up and down, he wasnt long off the park and was probably still getting his breath back. Reminds me of the time I was running late for a home game so was going up the 5,000 stairs to my seat in the North stand upper in double quick time, got to my seat knackered and sat down to watch the match, only for the green brigade to start a chant of “Stand up for the Champions “.

    If looks could kill :-).

I am being patient, I know that moving players on takes time and may well cost us money, but sometimes we just have to suck it up.

I disagree with you when you say most will be gone, I reckon most will still be at the club, we need a couple of cool heads in there, the likes of Kolo will surely help the defence, but we need more like him for the middle, we are well short there.

  16. Ellboy

I felt McGregor should have been first off.

Armstrong came into the game in second.

The extra body in midfield helped us by making it less easy for them to bring ball upfield.

Our spacing is still an issue but will take time for coach to fix.

I am no fan of Bitton as I’m sure everyone on here knows.

Today he was better positionally..Still think he stalls the engine but he seemed to face forward in this game more as to often he faces his own goal and returns passes to defender who gave it to him.

I would sell and use the money to find an experienced central mid to be our conductor.

The spine of our team needs leaders.

Toure is a good addition but midfield should be our priority.

We need leaders and conductors to make use of our young talent.

If MS was a manky hun,I can assure you, there would not be a single word of praise

    from me in his favour.HH

  18. Good result today. I was annoyed after the Gibraltar result but since then it seems like BR has shown tactical flexibility with team formations and using subs. Still all to play for though.

Just one thing: how on earth do the teams we play against in these qualifiers find all these imported South Americans and African players? The two African players today looked very good today.

  19. FOXY

Would you bring in K.Miller at this point or wait till we’ve qualified??

    :))))
