If one of they mates was big Aiden….I’m finished wae him.HH :O)

  2. Hope we’re not getting carried away here . No doubt a great result tonight . But Astana were no mugs and will give us a game at celtic park . But had we been offered a 1-1 draw before a ball was kicked , we would have bitten your hand off . We are in a good position , but still some work for Brendan to be getting on with .

Big Aidan is like me… too young to get all cynical and depressed when it comes to Celtic

I’d say the English-based BBC almost certainly take their script from Scotland.

Five Live report said “prevented Brendan Rodgers from ANOTHER away defeat”. Exactly what they said on Reporting Scotland. I mean, “another”? Like he has lost ten in a row????

RS also felt the need to highlight that the goal was our only shot on target.

Oh well – whatever makes them feel good !

  6. It’s not just about the individual player. It’s about the blend. Today the blend in midfield didn’t work. Brown was asked to be the playmaker and ball winner, he always shows up but I don’t think he is the man for that role. Not technically gifted. Biton on the other hand is. We need two more in there with pace and technical ability. Mcgregor had and off day and Armstrong quite simply has not turned out to be the player I thought he could be. Awful control and distribution means he is obsolete in midfield. 3 more signings needed before in comfortable about the season ahead. Right back, midfielder, and striker. Btw. Dembele tried but is clearly lacking sharpness and needs a rest. Happy with the result and BR seeing enough to make the right subs. PL needs to get us the players needed.

Just bought tickets for the second leg on the print at home option. Ticketmaster still charge me £2.30 for the use of my own paper and ink, WTF?

Surely this is Peter Lawells fault and is a sackable offence.

I know we weren’t perfect but they kept going, never panicked and a good sub got them through

BR will have more of a feeling now on how to neutralise their breaks at CP

the crowd will be up for it

  10. Rodgers laughed when asked by a local Kazakh journalist if his team were fortunate and he felt lucky.

He said: “Very lucky! I’m Irish!

All the hype and Comparisons with magic hat arrogant types aside, no mention of ‘disrespect’, just amiable honesty. I like our gaffer. And whats more, I think he could take us to 10iar.

  12. Brown was better further forward when NB came on. NB distributed the ball better and Browns drive is better further upfield IMHO.

  14. Our biggest problem just now is the lack of time BR has the players on the training ground.

I imagine they will have the morra off, then it’s Dublin at the weekend, but fair play, his ideas are sinking in, the formation was changed a couple of times today so they obviously know whats what, more so than they did under Ronny. MMmmmmmmm

  15. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

Thought the ref was a real homer. Totally biased.

    Patrick Roberts showed his class.

Far too soon to judge Dembele. 6 months from now we’ll know whether we have a player or a dud. I think it’ll be the former.

Big ups to Brendan Rodgers. Earned his money today.

I fancy us to beat them next week and finish the job. Hopefully that will convince Pedro to get a couple of players in. Hopefully we can also get a few out and trim the squad to a more manageable size.

Heard most of the game on RS. You certainly wouldn’t have known the ref was bad.

  19. Almore, Thanks for the heads up, I’ll definitely give it a visit.

Is that then the Official venue for a pre match CQN meet up. Just wondering, it sounds like the place could be mobbed and I have difficulty meeting guys at CQN corner, so in a packed pub I’d have nae chance.

If I went round saying “Hi are ye CQN’ers, I’m corkcelt”, I expect the guys in white coats would be called and I’d end up in the funny farm.

  20. Just seen the highlights and a well deserved result on a lively fairly difficult pitch. However Astana will be still a tricky opponent at Celtic Park. Brendan Rodgers must be happy with the form of his team with favourable results. get the job done next week and we are sure of European football up to Christmas.

    Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 Dinamo Tbilisi

    Ludogorets Razgrad 2-2 Crvena Zvezda

    Astra Giurgiu 1-1 FC Copenhagen

  22. GerryfaetheBrig,

Great spot to watch the game, Santa Ponsa is always Green & White.

  23. !!Bada Bing!! on

Fingers crossed we get through,Legia Warsaw won 1-0 away, I think they are one of our possibles next round…

  24. Oh an another thing:). I try to be objective with regards referee performance. I thought he did ok apart from dealing with the guy constantly tackling Roberts! He should have been booked after 2nd foul. The penalty incident was to far for him to see and I thought dembele was shrugged of the ball too early for a big strong guy. Happened a few times. BR will turn him into a good’n. It was all about Rogers today! He made good substitutions and was coaching throughout the game rather than standing with his arms folded. Magic eh!

  25. Corkcelt: I don’t know if there is an ‘official’ venue as such but Spirit of 88 CSC is affiliated to the AICSC which I am affiliated to so happy to support a member club.
