And the legend of Pierre can Hooidonk was born.

Didn’t van Hooijdonk score on his debut? Midweek game vs Hearts, at the dump known as Hampden during our year out of Celtic Park. I missed the goal because I was delayed in getting to the ground. Think he scored early on. :-/

    Big man was some player.

    Fook I’m getting old!

  2. Just had a look at available seats for the Astana game. Corkcelt will be up all night counting the dots. There are thousands available. Is this simply because , unlike the Imps game, we have to pay for this one?

    Goodnight anyway,

A 40 yarder top corner for PVH on his debut at Hampden against Hertz, is somewhere in ma memory too.

  4. Hot Smoked. Corkcelt is totally knackered, and is off to bed, I’ll wait a few days but I reckon after today a lot of dots will fly off the shelf.

Good Night & God Bless All.

One of the very few highlights fae that season. Canny believe I bought a season ticket for Hampden that year.

Queens Park were no bad! :))

  7. As Celine Dion once said : it’s all coming back, all coming back to me now.

As I said, correct me if my memory was cloudy, which it obviously was, might have been after his first goal I remember the hacks getting on his back.

Still won’t forget that goal though lol.

    JJ,

Because the imps game was on the season ticket every single holders seat would appear on the ticket site as taken.

First competitive game, flag day and of course being a freebie all helped shift tickets.

With 5pm being the shut off for sb holders I’d expect a good few to be shifted by public sale over the next few days.

A cheeky wee feelgood story between now and then and I’d say there’ll be similar crowds for both games.

If you check the match thread, apart from being a masochist, you should see that I was positive about us, as were others.

Then I’m the person who put the Happy in Happy Clapper.

I’m sure going forward when Brendan’s impact is felt fully we will see improvement and consistency from young players and intelligent use of our resources.

On that note we should ROMP the league despite the hysteria of the MSM with the mass signings down PRW.

  10. Dembele headed quite a few away at corners against, worked pretty hard, tracked back & looked to have won a pen. Overall he contributed to the team but his decision making & lack of a real threat is a bit concerning. Needs time & I don’t want to be unkind to the lad but looks to be carrying a bit of extra timber? Having said that there are glimpses of a player in there hopefully gets a goal quickly.

Hated every minute of that season at Hampden too.

Still hate the place to this day.

  12. CultsBhoy - sees right through Lawwell and the Board on

Teirney, Roberts and OConnell all played superbly well. Leigh delivered a great goal ( could be worth £millions yet?)…. But I was most impressed by Efe. I’m no fan of his and that we are reduced to using him is a bad joke… But given the pressure he was under I thought he showed enormous confidence and willingness to take the ball at every opportunity. That takes Cajones!

Well done Efe. I still think he’d make a decent right back or centre mid….!

Rangers reportedly lead race to sign Van Persie as bookies slash odds

Robin van Persie during happier times at Manchester UnitedRobin van Persie during happier times at Manchester United

Rangers are the front runners to sign former Arsenal and Man Utd striker Robin Van Persie according to bookies who have slashed the odds on him joining the Ibrox club.

The Dutch international is currently playing in Turkey for Fenerbahce, but SkyBet have this evening cut the odds on him joining Rangers to 6/4.

Van Persie announced he planned to leave Turkey after an indifferent season last year and a significant change in the political stability in the country.

SkyBet have now placed the move to Rangers at 11/8 with social media awash with rumours.

The likes of Paris Saint Germain dropped their interest in signing Van Persie two days ago, apparently clearing the way for Rangers to make the unlikely move.

English Premier League side Stoke City had also expressed interest in signing Van Persie.

    Me too.

But there was not much of that sunny optimism between the 19th and the 78th. The goal made a big difference to our mood- mine too. But it should not change the way we evaluate the performance.

Too often last year we would drop 2 or 3 points whilst dominating teams and being profligate. Too many posters describe those games in the same terms that I reserve for performances like the game in Gibralter and the Legia game at Murrayfield- those were embarrassing and a disgrace but those terms were bandied out for the likes of the Hamilton and Thistle games when they did not apply even though the result was not good.

If we are not going to go overboard about moderate performances which lead to dropped points then we should not go overboard about moderate performances that get us a valuable away draw.

I am delighted tonight but I hope to wait until Brendan produces change in this team before I give him plaudits for it.

He and the team deserve all their plaudits for the result. Let’s use it to make it to the next qualifying round where we will have an even harder task.

That place is an affront to football but beloved by der hun. Hence why it exists and flourishes still in Hanovarian Scotland.

  16. Robin van Persie (it’s taken me 5 minutes to get that past predictive text) to the Huns is pure pr fluff to make them seem relevant

I wish I knew more about the science of pr to be able to explain it better but at that level it’s monkey science so I’ll not bother

  18. Paul67 has not been on the board today has he.

I bet he has a large satisfied grin on his face.

He was lambasted for his positive article yesterday.

I hope those who were critical and accusatory hold their hands up and apologise.

I won’t hold my breath though.

I could name names and post links, but I won’t.
