It was Back to the Future on Saturday afternoon, listening to Aberdeen rescue a point against Dundee was more like 1985 than 2015. TV highlights suggest Aberdeen pounded Dundee, but three excellent goals were enough for the visitors to set the stage for Celtic to return to the top of the league against Motherwell on Wednesday.
Aberdeen have been imperious in recent months. Incredibly, apart from Dundee and Celtic, they have failed to keep a clean sheet only once (at drubbing at Hamilton) since September. That’s title challenging form in any language.
This run is unlikely to endure as the vagaries of form and fortune catch them up, but it appears our long wait for a notional title rival looks to be over. Which is good.
Any business with operating expenses in the region of £33m a year, which is £2.75m a month or just over £600k a week, that had to borrow £500k in the first week of the month in order to pay an unexpected tax bill of the same magnitude, will by now be in urgent need of funds to pay rates, other tax liabilities, electricity and gas (no matter how little they used on Friday), while wages day is approaching. And remember, those gardens don’t ‘duty’ themselves.
Newco Rangers will need a loan, or to sell a player for cash, to avoid imminently slipping into insolvency. If Dave King is confident about carrying shareholders at a March EGM, and has the resources, he should loan the club money to get them through the next two months, no strings attached. A bit like John Keane did for Celtic in 1994. With insolvency looming, Keane, currently a Celtic director, but at the time an agitator for boardroom change, wrote a seven figure cheque, no strings attached, to pay-down Celtic’s overdraft, as the Bank of Scotland threatened to call in administrators.
Anything less than this is playing into the hands of Mike Ashley.
CQN11 St Patrick’s Day Dinner Dance is on Friday 13 March, at the Kerrydale Suite, Celtic Park. The focus of an excellent night’s entertainment will be funding the construction of a kitchen at Chibwata Primary School in Malawi, for Mary’s Meals.

Bgx,
Folk were asking for budge to make comment. You said she will speak out about Sevco unlike lawwell who is up to his neck with them.
Nobody ripped you up for your comments about budge.
HT,
ffs listen to burt Lancaster lol.
I heard at the game on Saturday that the huns had sold their pitch covers to Thistle can anyone confirm that?
That was just a wee joke BTW – no malice intended. :-)))
Masty,
A hun :))))
That’ll be you barred fae the Brazen :)
Scattered thoughts.
Dissapointed but not surprised that three of the last four Celtic managers are all on Old-Firm message. They lose a bit of my respect as does the Club. A good indication of how arse licky they are towards the Old Firm. I wonder if privately they think same side of the coin.
GMS signing does not inspire. So much for Ronnys scouting network. How long did it take to replace the last soup taker ? Is this the scouting revamp that was discussed at the last supporters meeting ? They seem to be working those get togethers. I bet Ronny was punching the air … GMS and the multi lingual Mc Glynn.
Nobody has ever been fined for under soil heating failures. Mothers technically yes but it was suspended due to promises of a 250k under soil heating installation promise while everyone knew they have been teetering on bankruptcy in a bankrupt league. In other words the usual pish. Say and do anything but just keep paying us our 5 and 6 figure wages.
Good Luck to Kris Commons. A true Celt especially off the field of play. A credit to his parents.
Kickinthekakas sorry to hear of your loss

Haw you, I get on the tele :-)
Whilst I sometimes admit that we can be a bit precious about the MSM media bias, I was genuinely perplexed by BBC Radio Scotland’s 5 o’clock news today.
The lead story was about whether Kris Commons will be leaving the Hoops.
The second story was The Rangers’ latest statement to the stock exchange including the possibility of the mortgage of Ibrox.
Methinks that if Celtic were possibly mortgaging Celtic Park, that would probably shift a transfer rumour at Ibrox off the list….
Or maybe I’m just paranoid… Or maybe not…or….

Former Hearts and Livingston manager John McGlynn is back in football after being appointed first-team scout at Celtic.
GOBSMACKED at this.

Wilson was mouthpiece for the Huns at the Herald.
He is now mouthpiece for the Huns at the state broadcaster.
He Is as bad as you will find.Traynor is now back on the scene.
He will be keeping Wilson busy from now on(briefing for the SA Liar).
Tom English knows what’s what, but he will only go as far as what keeps him
And his family safe.Sad but true IMO
Awe Naw
I could be mistaken but I don’t remember any ‘scouting revamp’ being discussed.
sipsini
shhhhhhh!
Masty
Ah maybe that’s where he got it from!

The scouting world seems to be no more than an auld pals act, I was gobsmacked when we appointed Peter Houston now McGlynn, Celtic proving to be without vision if we continue with this parochial attitude to finding players. Oh look ah found the new Wanyama in this lucky bag:(((
H.T
I read about it. I would normally try and dig it out….maybe it was the AGM
HH

Yip fine for Wednesday. How much are they?
I noticed that while BBC red button recognised that the Ashley statement today was directed at the glib and shameless liars record, they refused to include this within all of their radio sports bulletins or in the 6 pm news. National broadcaster my erchie
Bgx,
I don’t think so.
Owen asked ye wtf has it to do with Pl. Then you explained then it was finished….I think.
bgx –
On Saturday morning quite a few on here were attacking Budge for her “silence” re Friday night.
I posted that it was far too soon and that she would be spending time taking phone calls and emails from supporters describing events in and around Ibrox before making any statement.
I didn’t mention any names as I was making a general point.
John McGlynn Chief Scout is a joke.
it sounds like a John Parks returning a favour.
I would much prefer a Celtic man of the ilk of Sean Fallon to do this role. There are plenty who could do it….why do we take on a hearts reject
Might have been worthwhile pursuing the DU chief scout? Gauld, Armstrong, Souttar etc
John McGlynn made a fine Scottish Vet in All Creatures Great And Small.
Till later all

That guy is now at Valencia……..the one the Deady bears were supposed to be interested in.
Davey Hay enjoyed great success as a scout, he would be the ideal man to head up the scouting network imo.
Anna hingamyrygar finally twirps

us !!!
How’d that one turn out ?
Baden Powell – chief scout.
Geordie munro..you are talking about one convo…and on that convo i stated imo she stood up for her club more than PL does for us..that was the end of that convo..there where others…..if you dont believe me fine …
