Backlash Sunday

833

It is difficult to overstate the importance of Sunday’s cup final to Motherwell. They have won as many major trophies in the last 65 years as Celtic have won European Cups in the same period. What an opportunity they have.

Sunday might be just another final to you and me, or more importantly, to the Celtic players, but it is a date with destiny for all at Motherwell.

Right now, Celtic players will still be de-escalating emotions from Wednesday night. It is difficult to switch from one emotional peak straight into an equally intense state, but if we do not find our sharpness or thought and body, the Invincible trail will end this weekend.

I don’t think that will happen; there should be a backlash from Celtic. The open wounds from Wednesday will be used as fuel. The players have been slapped about by the hurt of defeat and will want to avoid a repeat on a national cup final. If Motherwell want to win, score a goal, or if they even want to pass the ball, they will have to operate at a level they have only attained for seconds this season.

The stakes are as high for both teams. Let’s hope the matter is decided without controversy.

Have a great and memorable day at Hampden.

    I felt exactly the same!

I know we say one game at a time but win the next three and it’s gets interesting especially if they drop points.

The sheep double header could be the making of this team and bring us right in contention for the league.

    we march on

If memory serves me correctly, both you and I suffer from idiopathic angiodema. I’ve got one helluva attack of it today and it’s still not finished with me yet.

I’ve been very lucky recently , not had an attack for a while (a serious one anyway) .

Hav’nt had to use my Eppy-pens for some time .

Hopefully you get through Christmas without an episode ….i find that the hardest to time cope with it.

Jimmynotpaul and yourself always enter my thoughts when it happens to me …gets me through it when you know others that know how dibilitating it is and how quick it attacks .

    All the best pal ….

  4. The Huns crow about PSG yet cannot lay a glove on Dundee or Hamilton. Meanwhile, we keep racking up trophies. The only way they can avoid the 10 is to Liquidate. I wouldn’t put it past them. Lest we forget their song about the Lisbon Lions. Disgusting, horrible scum. I’m unashamed to say i take immense pleasure in their misery.

I went to see this in the GFT in Rose Street for the UK premier, this was the highlight, along with Tina’s weird moves

  6. Who wid keep big hunskelper O’Hara{a young big Roy Aitken} oot the Cellic midfield ?

Huns will get to a breathe away fae relegation, then the leagues will be reconstructed, then the Bankiers and Rory Bremner’s fae the Cellic PLC fraudsters will be exposed as the deceitful, 5 way agreement old firm fueling cheats that they are, then the happy clapping seals will look doon to the Scooby Doo! oan their pyjamas and say – “Yikes! The trolls were right awe alang, Shaggy!”

    Aye……

Where wur awe the footballing purists when….

On 2 beach ball Sunday’s at ibrokes, MO’N parked the bus and skelped the ebt cheats ?

Or when MO’N parked the bus at the Nou Camp and we put Ronaldhino’s Barca oot the Uefa cup ?

Or when NFL beat Messi led Barca at Cellic Park ?

Or when WGS parked the bus at Cellic Park when Nakamura skelped Man Utd ?

Or when NFL parked the bus at ibrokes when Sammi skelped the ebt cheats into their last new year ae thur lives ?

    Or, etc, blah, blah…..

Even the greatest of them all, Mr Stein didny play the fabled {Glasgow Celtic Way} awe the time!

Thing is, if you send out the message that, ye can only play one style, tactics, formation, well that suggests that, you don’t possess the managerial nous of improvisation.

If ye compete aginst a conveyor belt of Scoattish pub teams, you’ll get away wi being rigid, but, when you go in against CL galacticos and, try the Scottish pub team tactics, you’ll be a victim of role reversal.

    Anywye,…..

    ….oot.

  7. For me it’s really simple.

I love what we’ve achieved domestically and I love qualifying for the CL.

I struggle with what is becoming a ritual humping.

I’ve got no answers to that though so no criticism implied.

In years to come we could see a franchise system i.e. London v New York etc.

Not my thing and I hope there’s a tier below that that we can compete in. But for now let’s just beat Motherwell and keep on winning in a non financially doped world.

  8. glendalystonsils on

Don’t worry Sevconians……….a big name manager with a humungous warchest is riding in on King Billy’s big white horse to take you back to the top.

    ….honest………..

  9. Good man Kevjungle. I enjoyed your piece.

There was I, out with the wife and a couple of friends, having a few end of work week pints. The women were discussing black Friday , grandchildren and the weather. Us menfolk were discussing the disgracefull health service and the demise of trade unionism. The bar televisions were showing, West Ham v Lescister amd Celta v Legende. The epl game was dire, crap, terrible. The la liga game was not bad. The evening progressed. A Sky Sports piece on Ronaldinho. Brilliant. Xavi was a kid and fed him so much ball. I was there when Neil Lennon nutmegged him. Then a piece on the original Ronaldo. Great player. And then Celtic v the real rangers, when they were financially cheating…. as well as hun refs helping them. Brown was sent off for no apparent reason. Robbie Keane was kicked around the pitch by that animal, Beggorah, or something. 2010.

Ah, a text from my aul buddy, Billy. Dundee 2 Sevco 1.

Happy days. I watch Robbie pick himself, shake himself off and I think, they really are dead and part of football history.

  10. I understand from Ernie Lynch that Niel McCann is dealing with a personal situation

    while still managing Dundee.

    Please excuse my earlier flippancy.
