Backlash Sunday

833

It is difficult to overstate the importance of Sunday’s cup final to Motherwell. They have won as many major trophies in the last 65 years as Celtic have won European Cups in the same period. What an opportunity they have.

Sunday might be just another final to you and me, or more importantly, to the Celtic players, but it is a date with destiny for all at Motherwell.

Right now, Celtic players will still be de-escalating emotions from Wednesday night. It is difficult to switch from one emotional peak straight into an equally intense state, but if we do not find our sharpness or thought and body, the Invincible trail will end this weekend.

I don’t think that will happen; there should be a backlash from Celtic. The open wounds from Wednesday will be used as fuel. The players have been slapped about by the hurt of defeat and will want to avoid a repeat on a national cup final. If Motherwell want to win, score a goal, or if they even want to pass the ball, they will have to operate at a level they have only attained for seconds this season.

The stakes are as high for both teams. Let’s hope the matter is decided without controversy.

Have a great and memorable day at Hampden.

Motherwell will be best trying to play Football against us.

  8. Gerry,

I hope it is a 4-3 game now.

If Phil was to decide to who, I’d hazard a guess it would be Motherwell, despite being a Massive Celtic Supporter.

Really hoping for a 5-4, or even a 6-5 game.

As long as the Referee doesn’t spoil it. hmmmmm.

Every single Celtic fan on here has their own opinion but my Celtic has never had to win :-) am gutted when we don’t but this new breed under Brendan wil feel entitled :-)

I wouldn’t change Brendan for the world, Brendan is my type of Celtic manager ……

  10. Tommy and Phil – LEGENDS.

Phil should have been a Legend @ Celtic but injuries stopped that happening.

  12. Gerryfaethebrig,

Kieran got skinned in the 2nd half by Mbappe (frightening pace) because he’d just done a lung bursting run, again to try and get Celtic a goal.

Kieran and Tony as Fullbacks – A start to where we Really want to be.

Am glad you noticed that, I think KT is quick but Mbappe lost him in a second, Mbappe is special but I would still have Kieran :-)

  15. Mbappe of Celtic

    KT of Celtic

Nah missed the chance by thousands of miles.

Brendan paid enormous praise to Kierans ability to watch the ball before tackling against Brazillian trickery. He gave up other situations for that potential. An incredible endorsement of how good he thinks Kieran is against the VERY best in the World at skills face to face.

  17. Gerry – you take it easy, dinnae be getting stressed.

If your work is stressful. Find something else to do.

I know that is easy to say…. I’d appreciate every youtube clip of Davie Hay.

  19. Gerry Bhoy,

Kieran was deployed out of position other side corners, deliberately.

The Celtic Home Grown will do more than OK…… in the Future when all is well.

Need Strong Mental players, I mean really Strong mental Players.

    The Celts are gonnae Rock.

  20. PETEC

so you reckon we need strong MENTAL players?

According to one blogger we are all psychos so maybe we could arrange regional trials for the support so see if we have any who are mental enough. Brendan would not need to get involved as we are overloaded loaded with managers on here who could sort it out. I know we have a few taxi drivers on here so maybe need their expertise when it comes to parking the bus.

Last week it was all about Parks busses now we’ve got to park them as well. Roll on the cup final :-)

    ……………………

Davie was one of the HARDEST players I have EVER seen…forget about Baresi, Norman Hunter ( Joke)..Tam Forsyth ( another Joke)…and some other Latin “hard men”…Davie Hay…was one guy that I would not have liked to play against…The Quiet Assassin…say no more….but he could also play fitba !

Sorry , I was gonny try and make it to the BV around 4pm…but I got caught up in heavy duty company with some Bhoys that I know well….and then because of them…some others that I met for the first time….the Beers were overflowing….as were the Captain Morgans cos I couldn’t keep up with these Bhoys who were drinking spirits…so I ended up on the Morgans Spicey Rum…which is something I don’t normally do..but I had to try and keep pace with these hard drinking Bhoys.

OLDTIM….I say thank you for your offer about taxi’s etc…I only saw your post late last night after 11 pm when I got home…I don’t know if BT tried to phone me…cos the pub and the company was very noisy….I could hardly get a word in !

    See you next weekend..
