Backlash Sunday

833

It is difficult to overstate the importance of Sunday’s cup final to Motherwell. They have won as many major trophies in the last 65 years as Celtic have won European Cups in the same period. What an opportunity they have.

Sunday might be just another final to you and me, or more importantly, to the Celtic players, but it is a date with destiny for all at Motherwell.

Right now, Celtic players will still be de-escalating emotions from Wednesday night. It is difficult to switch from one emotional peak straight into an equally intense state, but if we do not find our sharpness or thought and body, the Invincible trail will end this weekend.

I don’t think that will happen; there should be a backlash from Celtic. The open wounds from Wednesday will be used as fuel. The players have been slapped about by the hurt of defeat and will want to avoid a repeat on a national cup final. If Motherwell want to win, score a goal, or if they even want to pass the ball, they will have to operate at a level they have only attained for seconds this season.

The stakes are as high for both teams. Let’s hope the matter is decided without controversy.

Have a great and memorable day at Hampden.

He might have Celtic at heart but he knows where his bread is buttered.

That’s the point I was trying to make about Bonner, that maybe souptaker is a bit OTT.

    KEEP THE FAITH

  2. hi bhoys was in asda this morning looking at the magazines. suddenly spotted match annual 2018 .on the cover lionel messi. a certain mr neymar gareth bale and in the corner our own scottie sinclair resplendent in the hoops .alas no sevco players shame.hh.

I truly understand the difficulty many people have when we hear a REAL CELTIC MAN being called a souptaker.

It demeans the people who were forced to do that so many years ago.

    Simply to survive.

I’d call the likes of Walker and Bonner a lot worse than that. They don’t need to slurp to survive.

    They do it by choice.

Totally agree never a term I would use but how about

    Arseholes ?

Celtic made a lot of these guys decent money, big Sutton annoys me at time but he speaks his mind and praises when due which is the way it should be

  6. Gerryfaethebrig on

All good here Big Packy doing a stack of ironing listening to radio Clyde and racing on the telly, out for a wee beverage or two tomorrow so collecting the brownie points today, hope you are good and get to see the final the morra, not counting any chickens but hopefully Broony & the Bhoys will take their pain in Paris onto the park the morra

  7. GERRYFAETHEBRIG yes motherwell will make it tough and we will have to watch mr moult. but hey we are the famous glasgow celtic predict 3-1 to the good ghuys. hh.

  8. Hibs are moving and Grooving.

Aiberdeen better win their next 2 games against the Newco/Cheater club or they will be left well behind.

I can see Kilmarnock moving on up as well.

    we are sailing Big Time.

    CELTIC

  9. Hi Bhoys

    Has PHILBHOY chucked it?

I saw earlier in the week he thought (knew) that the mods deleted a couple of his posts, then he posted “It’s been a blast”.

I met PHILBHOY at the last hoot and he is a charming man.

So if you have chucked it PHILBHOY get back on and don’t deprive us of your excellent company.

    KEEP THE FAITH

Thanks for posting, just watched it. TB was an inspiration and a example to us all. The comments below the film on the youtube page, many from Rangers fans, show how respected the man was, HH.

I know the history of the term souptaker but like most of these terms its been adapted.

In this instance to mean someone who took our hard earned cash, but wisnae smart enough to retire ( dont start me) on it, and now will do his heritage damage by selling his soul.

Perhaps a taker of the queens shilling might be better, but these days I doubt it.

So if souptaker upsets you tough, listening to X hoops stars run my /our/your/ team down constantly, dis my thruppnies in.

    SOUPTAKER THEY ARE

I got a row on here a few years ago by calling big Packie a “souptaker” but he 100% is a former player, like Walker, Burley etc who loves nothing more than running us down. I remember him saying that Scottish football needed a strong “Rangers”, aye right… Tom Boyd shows what it is to be a former proud player of our great club, the others could learn a lot from him.

  13. My Congratulations to Scotland’s Rugby team. They played well against Australia scoring 51 points inthe game.

    Well done.

  14. TonyRome,

Saw the exchange the other day and it did look like Philbhoy flounced.

He definitely is a decent ghuy and I hope he reconsiders.

The guy at fault was Mickbhoy, he is a genuine Tim OK but has a strange attitude,

He seemed to mock Philbhoy in a post, Philbhoy responded without any malice or sweary words.

The Moderator didn’t seem to fancy the exchange & deleted a few posts from both of them.

Philbhoy queried the Moderator, got no response and made the post ‘its been a blast’ and hasn’t posted since.

  15. Afternoon everyone, wee update for the guys who passed on their wishes, the grandson Nicholas was allowed home this afternoon from hospital. A great end to a very long week.

We are leaving them alone today to let them settle in , but we will be seeing him tomorrow

I can hopefully focus on our own wee game tomorrow and if I can scrounge a ticket around Hampden tomorrow, all the better.

Hopefully our club will see off a spirited Motherwell team, the lhad headed straight here from Paris to see this match. Let’s hope his trip was not in vain. HH

  16. JMCCORMICK

When Nicholas says grandad for the first time it’s a moment you’ll never forget – but enjoy the in-between

    Hail Hail

  17. Both the Hertz & Hibs games end level. Was hoping Hibs could put a bit of daylight between themselves & Huns. Lenny has them going OK but they are dropping too many points.

2 or 3 wins by Celtic and a killer gap will be opened between The Champions & the rest,

Brilliant news, belated congratulations only dipped in and out of the blog during the week (in work) but read your post about the Wishaw staff, I totally agree

    Hail Hail

Young Nicholas will eat well if nothing else :-)

  19. Hi ghuys -my youngest granddaughter was taken into hospital Wednesday night with a virus called SVP,it’s common in infants but none the less it had us worried but glad to say she got out late last night and although still not anywhere near her cheeky self she is getting there.point of my post is this, apologies to FAN-A-TIC and BADA for my attitude towards you both,I haven’t read back far enough to know if apologies are due to anyone else

  20. If BR’s objective is success in Europe then Europa league is where the tactical nous should be practiced for a few years. IMHO he should park the bus and blooter the ball out the park with PSG and barcelona instead of believing that Celtic can take them on. It would save 12-1 type humiliations.

  21. If the huns get liquidated again are they still the huns or sevcuns?

Looks like if GASL is still chairman on Dec 1st it could happen.

It might just be a nice valentines day anniversary.

    Celteralla (doll)

Are you looking forward to the final tomorrow ?

I used to not bother with the league/skol or whatever cup it was called even under Lenny when the Morton put us out with the Morton goalie had the night of his life and Neil played some young Aussie Bhoy Rogic in amongst 8 other changes BUT under Brendan winning trophies (in Scotland) is a lovely habit, hope all is good Mags and for any doubters Celtarella is a Tim :-)

  23. Gerryfaethebrig on

I meant to add Morton put us out on penalties when Celtic has the chance of last 16 of the CL the following midweek

  24. Gerryfaethebrig on 25th November 2017 5:30 pm

    of course! :)

    worried about the officiating nevertheless
