Backlash Sunday

833

It is difficult to overstate the importance of Sunday’s cup final to Motherwell. They have won as many major trophies in the last 65 years as Celtic have won European Cups in the same period. What an opportunity they have.

Sunday might be just another final to you and me, or more importantly, to the Celtic players, but it is a date with destiny for all at Motherwell.

Right now, Celtic players will still be de-escalating emotions from Wednesday night. It is difficult to switch from one emotional peak straight into an equally intense state, but if we do not find our sharpness or thought and body, the Invincible trail will end this weekend.

I don’t think that will happen; there should be a backlash from Celtic. The open wounds from Wednesday will be used as fuel. The players have been slapped about by the hurt of defeat and will want to avoid a repeat on a national cup final. If Motherwell want to win, score a goal, or if they even want to pass the ball, they will have to operate at a level they have only attained for seconds this season.

The stakes are as high for both teams. Let’s hope the matter is decided without controversy.

Have a great and memorable day at Hampden.

He said two footed tackle and was screaming for a red card.

Having watched the replay of a perfectly good tackle he wanted a yellow because of the, err, speed of the challenge.

He is, for me, the lowest of the low for ex Celts in the media .

    hunforgiveable.

    Andy Walker doesn’t like Celtic

Not sure why, maybe wee still annoyed about Fergus deducting £29.99 for his Cellic Tap

    Anyway Walker is irrelevant

Ffs,”a hun going through the motions”

I’ve read some criticisms of Celtic players in the near-ten years I’ve been on here, but that beggars belief.

I’ve never requested a post to be deleted-bar one in reply to the same poster when I told him to eff off-and I’m not gonna start now.

It should stand for all eternity as a mark,an indicator, that sometimes the guid Scots Catholic education still turns out an arsehole or two.

  8. “a hun going through the motions”

Oh dear, how disgraceful a comment is that? I can only think it’s the usual attention seeking rubbish.

    Agree 100% with your post.

    Game experience helps.

Although I was dismayed with defensive performance the fact that we cannot seem to get a settled back line for consecutive games over a long period also does not help. A slight mitigating factor or partial excuse.

Our defenders should and I hope are being drilled facing Moussa, Leigh, JF, Paddy, Johnny every day for a period of training. Not on a level of Europe’s best but drilling into them a setup and level of expectation against the best on offer in Scotland is a must.

Celtic have some record at Hampden under Brendan, Brendan seems to like Hampden “if” Motherwell manage to come out on top tomorrow nothing much changes, have listened to a few “Celtic” fans on SSB this week decrying Brendan ….. for me, I want Brendan here for many, many seasons, fellow Celtic fans good night n god bless

  11. Looking forward to the game tomorrow!

Prayers and best wishes to all our friends in need this night!

    God bless!

Really…you portray yourself as jungle rebel…naw your no…your just a so called jungle rebel, someone going through the motions. You would be last person standing in the jungle with that comment. To call any Player that dawns the Hoops what you posted, totally out of ordered. Whether you think he is good enough to be our Goalkeeper or not your comment has no place on any CELTIC blog. Yes, he may make some howlers but equally he has saved us on many occasion. Oh and how many trophies, not bad for someone going through the motions. You are someone who calls them self a jungle rebel, you are not! In my opinion of course!

    Keep the Faith!
